Chapter 44: Buying the Club (1)

The man soon drew back and before he left, he muttered, "Maybe I actually am a dad now. And it would be worth a hand to help in taking away those who trouble you."

The door creaked closed behind him.

Kieran held his jaw tightly as he turned back to the mirror, clasping his hands around the sink. He stared at his own reflection — he could tell just how much angry he was for his face to suck so much at hiding it, yet...

When the man was still here and he had a lot to say, a lot of warnings to give, he couldn’t speak.

The Chairman and Richard were already leaving the time Kieran would return from the restroom... But as Richard seemed to have been holding on for him, he turned the moment he appeared.

He quickly jogged closer to him and pulled out a blue card. Kieran collected it, forcing a smile onto his face.

They both shared knowing glances... Then Kieran nodded.

He then patted his arm as a way of saying see you later.

When the duo left, Amanda stepped closer to Kieran, and before she could even speak, he cut in,

"Tell the guys we’re leaving. To the Skybridge Club."

Amanda wanted to say something, but she closed her mouth mid-statement. She had expected him to end up in this mood if his father did act as though he were totally irrelevant whatsoever.

But now, it was different. The Chairman clearly did his best to act nice towards him... So, she did think Mr Holland should be able to loosen up a bit.

Yes, he did so when at the table. But things changed when both the father and son stayed long in the restroom.

’The Chairman must have said something,’ Amanda thought, seated in the limo together with her boss while on their way to the club.

Kieran, without looking away from the front, tapped a screen beside him, and a mechanical response followed...

"Would you like some sparkling water or...?"

"Yeah," Kieran mumbled.

Soon, a part of the car’s body was cut open to bring out a glass of water, from beneath which bubbles danced to the surface, placed on a white tray.

Kieran took it and gulped down — it sure had a sharp taste, and that’s what makes sparkling water.

One of his bodyguards was already waiting with a purple Ferrari the moment they reached the Skybridge Club. So, Kieran simply collected the key from him and the rest left with the limo.

It was a mixed reaction he got from the crowd — snickers from the guys and seductive smiles from the women. Were the guys just jealous of him?

Kieran couldn’t tell.

Just as he was about reaching the club’s entrance, a lady in a glistering bikini walked to him in a slow manner, moving her tongue across her lower lip and then licking both lips at the same time... Then she pressed her body against him, grabbing his tie.

But truth be told, Kieran didn’t feel a thing.

She whispered, her smile coming on and off, the pauses saved for sharp breaths, "I know where you can get yourself some bad boy clothes."

Kieran tilted his head. "Why do you think I need your help?" he smiled wryly.

The lady looked at him from head to toe, and then raised her brows. Kieran checked himself out too, and what he had just realised made him curse.

"Ah, for fuck’s sake." Perhaps because of the rush, he forgot he was still in his office suit.

"Oh, words," the lady mumbled. She leaned closer to him and whispered, "I can surely curse more than that when you get me wet."

A gentle smile danced around Kieran’s lips, then, without looking, he brought out a card from his pocket and handed it over to the lady.

He said to her, "Be grateful you’re gonna spend a night with me," then he walked towards the entrance.

There were two bodyguards there, but one familiar face.

When the other guy was about to stop him for being in an office suit, his colleague quickly covered his mouth. Then he bowed to Kieran and greeted him in a loud voice,

"It’s nice to meet you again, sir!"

It was one of the bodyguards he gave the hundred thousand dollars cheque to last time... which was when he first met the rapist too.

"Please go on, sir. Enjoy your stay!" said the bodyguard.

"You’re still in good shape," Kieran commended, though not in a tone as someone who actually mean that.

He proceeded inside, and soon he was met with the sight of men and sexily dressed women on the dance floor, all bathed in the disco light casting from the ceilings.

He sighed out loud as he pulled off his coat, tie and wristwatch and dropped them on the floor. Then he moved onto the dancing floor.

He was not here to be the rich business man or a perfectionist... but his old self. The free-living Kieran.

A particular random lady stepped on the wristwatch seconds later, bent to pick it up, and the brand she saw on it made her gasp out loud.

It was Graff Diamonds! A Graff Diamonds Hallucination watch!

The lady whispered, "A fucking fifty five million?!"

But does the thought of having dropped millions of dollars’ worth of stuff on the floor trouble Kieran? Maybe — but he hadn’t thought much about it yet.

And he reached the person he saw from ahead. The baddie he took to the hotel last time and left after getting her to the sky, thanks to Zyn that called.

Sophia.

She was dancing with a guy before Kieran grabbed her other hand and pulled her closer. The guy was about to pull back when he saw Kieran’s face... Then he retreated with a respectful smile.

Sophia wrapped her arms around Kieran’s neck without even checking who he was, then they both paced left. It was a form of dancing.

Yes, that kind.

Soon, Kieran held on to an arm by the fingertips, and Sophia braced herself to turn. Just like how Cinderella dances. But before she could, Kieran said out loud,

"Thought as much that you would be here."

The screaming jazz muffled his voice.

Sophia’s tiny voice came through, "Huh?"

Kieran finally stepped closer and said, "I said I knew you would be here," and Sophia did see his face.

She quickly got off his grasp and glared at him. She said nothing as she turned to leave, but Kieran held her back and pulled her closer to him, their clothes brushing against each other.

He said nothing, but placed a hand around her waist, the other lifting her jaw up... such that their eyes were facing each other, lips almost touching too.

Sophia swallowed.

Kieran then asked, "Do you want the whole club?"

Sophia kept silent for a while before smirking. "Go on... If you’ve got that much guts."

"Does that worth a night then?"

Sophia giggled, then shrugged, "Maybe."

Kieran lifted her chin more, smiling, and Sophia stiffened slightly. "I suppose we shall have to pick it up from where we stopped then."

Sophia gave the same reaction. "Still... Maybe."

Kieran leaned closer. "The whole club is yours, baby."
