Chapter 97: Chapter 96: Crimson Reign

"What...do I do..." Reina muttered, her voice full of panic. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to escape even if she wanted to, the other two members of the assasination unit would find her and kill her if she dared try to escape.

However, she couldn’t just sit still either.

Kieran, that was the name of the hooded figure that attacked them both. The very name sent shivers down her spine, he was a monster in every aspect, speed, strength, tactical thinking. An ideal assassin, and a powerful one at that.

Her current abilites were highly dwarfed by his, and she couldn’t hope to even beat a monster like that man.

’All those people...dead...’ Reina thought, tears pouring from her eyes as she couldn’t believe the cruel reality.

She wanted to be a change in this disgusting and dark world ruled by pirates, she wanted to be a hope to many, to hunt down these retched criminals. And yet today, she had witnessed the act their very organization, the one dedicated to saving people and hunting down these monsters known as pirates....

Take the lives of many, and without remorse too.

Reina questioned herself, was this just a one time thing? Or where there multiple instances where the lives of people had to be thrown away to achieve their ultimate goal?

Reina couldn’t wrap her head around the situation, it was all too dark for her to grasp and understand.

CRASH!!!

"Ack!" Zoey grunted as she crashed into the building, dust and debris covering her vision as she fell hard onto the floor.

The debris crashed around her, the house shaking as the ground rumbled, but Zoey had to get up quickly.

Despite the pain coarsing through her, she pushed herself up from the ground quickly, her eyes scanning through the mass field of dust that obscurred her vision.

She gripped her sword tightly as she saw a silhouette in the dust, falling from the sky, a burning blue light blowing the dust away as they neared.

Zoey quickly reacted, managing to block a powerful slash from the hooded figure as she used the flat edge of the sword as a shield.

The impact was tremendous, the shockwaves blew the dust away, the floors cracked, and the air was charged with immediate tension once more as the hooded figure grinned underneath their hood.

"Nice block, but are you sure you can keep it up?" They asked, pushing themselves off of Zoey’s sword as they landed on the ground.

Zoey chuckled, a small smile appearing on her face as she wiped a bit of blood from her forehead, the sound confusing the hooded figure as they were suprised by this sudden change in her behaviour.

"Oh, I’m not the one in danger here." She said, a powerful crimson aura enveloping her shortly after as [Hardened Will] and [King’s Fury] were activated simultaneously, a gust of wind spreading out as the hooded figure was pushed back by the sudden burst of power.

"I haven’t even gone all out yet, so don’t try too quickly, okay?" She asked, her physcotic smile blooming onto her face as she dashed forward with insane speeds.

The hooded figure was suprised as they quickly moved to block her attack, but as soon as their swords clashed, the difference in power was clear. Her heavily strength outmatched his.

The hooded figure was blown away as they crashed through the walls of the house, and landed out on the cold streets of Livia.

They watched as Zoey calmly walked out of the broken and destroyed house, her frightening aura still surrounding her as she moved, her blade by her side as she held it menacingly.

"Guess you’re not as weak as I thought you’d be," The hooded figure replied, standing up as they brandished their swords once more, the blue flames around them intensifying once more as they lunged.

Zoey took a deep breath, analyzing their movements as she leaned back and dodged their sword strikes, leaning agains their momentum.

With quick movements, she delivered a strong punch to the hooded figure’s stomach, not holding back a single ounce of her strength as she hit him.

The punch was brutal, the pain unbearable. The hooded figure coughed a mouthful of blood as they received the blow, the heat lingering on their stomach as they were sent flying across the street and crashing into a nearby building.

"Cough! Cough!" The hooded figure coughed, blood spewing from their mouth. It felt like a hot had been made in their chest, the pain lingered like a fierce flame, their strength was near empty as they felt the air in their lungs leave them.

’What the....’ The hooded figure thought, he was certain that he would’ve been able to take her on, but that one blow received from her changed his mind. He couldn’t win, and fighting against her like this was just suicide.

"I need...cough...to report back...urgently." He muttered, rising from the rubble as he used his last bits of strength to peel himself off the ground.

He looked at Zoey, who was still approaching him with calm and collected steps, her bright and crimson aura sent chills down his spine, paired with her crimson eyes that gleamed like rubies of impeccable value.

The hooded man needed to react quickly, he needed to react quickly, so that he could have enough time to escape from her.

He quickly reached into his robes and pulled out another highly explosive dagger, desperate for escape he quickly threw the explosive dagger towards Zoey.

The blade flew towards her at insane speeds, cutting through the air dangerously as it whistled. The bombs around the blade crackled menacingly, the ropes buzzing with sparks as it neared the limit.

’Not on my watch,’ Zoey thought, she quickly closed her eyes as she took a deep breath, activating her [Heightened Senses] Talent as her crimson eyes turned a deep and crystal shade of blue, her focus enhanced greately.

She moved, catching the dagger in her hand. With a swift spin, she threw the dagger back towards the hooded figure with impressive strength.

"Ah!" The hooded figure jumped in suprise, not expecting her to do that incredibly risky move as the blade was now flying towards him. He knew he wouldn’t be able to stop the attack, and if he didn’t move quickly, he would be doomed to die in a fiery explosion.

But just as the blade neared him, a sudden movement quickly intercepted the blade as the powerful explosion rang out.

’Looks like someone else made themselves known.’ Zoey narrowed her eyes in annoyance, it was still bothering her that she couldn’t pick up the presence of these people, and that made finding them a much more daunting task.

But Reina had mentioned them being three, with her included, and so the whole team, except Reina, was infront of her. She didn’t need to go searching from them anymore.

After the dust had cleared, a bright green glow came into view. Another hooded figure stood infront of the one that was about to die, their hands stretched out, a magic circle infront of their finger tips, as a powerful magical barrier was cast to block the attack.

"Are you okay?" The hooded figure looked over their shoulder, asking Kieran the question as they observed their beat-up state, worry creeping into their spine.

The magical barrier was heavily cracked, barely managing to block the explosion from earlier. Despite being it being their best barrier skill, the barrier still suffered insane damage, one more hit would be enough to completely shatter it.

"We need to get out of here quickly! Felicia is too dangerous of a pirate for us!" Kieran shouted, his voice cracking a bit as he told the person infront of him.

"What!? Didn’t you say that you’d be able to kill her? What was the point on spyi-"

"Damn it! There’s not enough time! Move damn it!" Kieran shouted, but before he could make a break for it, a sharp object impaled him from the waist, pinning him hard to the ground as he suffered a devastating injury.

"!!!" The hooded figure gasped in shock as they looked at the body of Kieran, a sharp pained cry escaped his throat as a large spear impaled him, pinning him hard into the ground as he profusely began to bleed to death.

The barrier had shattered completely, it’s weakened state not enough to protect them from the sudden attack.

The hooded figure looked back at Zoey, who had just thrown her [Venom Punisher] spear like a javelin, sucessfully impaling Kieran. She let out a small sigh, before starting to walk towards the hooded figure that managed to protect Kieran earlier.

Her aura was even more frightening, it sent chills down his spine as he continued to look at her approaching them in deep fear. He wanted to move, to run, to escape.

But the fear in his legs kept him grounded to the earth firmly.
