Chapter 74: Chapter 73: Lightning and Blood

Zoey appeared infront of the horde of monsters, raising her sword high as she swung it in a powerful wide arc, lightning crackling as it flowed out of her blade with enourmous power.

The zombies and monsters were struck by this lightning, roaring out in pain. Most avoided the attack, leaping back as they roared and let out green globs of poisonous acid towards her, causing her to block them with her [Stone Carved Shield], the stone surface of the shield being melted, and eventually breaking.

’Sigh, you leave me no choice.’ Zoey thought, activating her most powerful skills she had been saving.

[Runes Of Power], crimson runes appeared all over Zoey’s body, her face marked by ancient writing that pulsed with a powerful crimson glow, a powerful aura bursting from her body, pushing the zombies back as her power increased by a ton.

[Equivalent Exchange] was activated next, and immediately, Zoey felt a huge loss of vitality as she felt way more vulnerable to attacks, but in return, her power and speed increased to incredible heights, her aura flaring over her rapidly like a raging flame.

Zoey looked at the notifications of her system fo a brief moment, her eyes wide in suprise and awe at the insane power boot she had received, but before she could stare in awe further, the enemies have surrounded her, pouncing on her with their claws, and mouths ready to kill.

"I feel...so fast." Zoey muttered as she dissapeared from her position and a flurry of sword slashes rang out, thunder shocking the zombies before they could react, their bodies bein torn apart by her insane strength and speed.

"Take this!" Zoey roared as she kicked a zombie square on the chest, sending it crashing into the others and disorienting them greately as many zombies fell, but Zoey wasn’t done with them yet, she was just getting started.

The battle raged on, with Zoey killing multiple monsters at crazy speeds, her strength obliterating them in one swift attack, cutting through them with her [Volt Requiem] sword as she moved in between the army of zombies and monsters like a blur, killing them like crazy.

’I can see everything, it’s all slow to me, and I can destroy you all!’ Zoey thought, increasing her pace as she obliterated her enemies in hordes, blood splattering everywhere, and Zoey vanishing from one spot to another, her speed reaching insane heights.

[Hardened Will], [King’s Fury], [Runes Of Power], and [Equivalent Exchange], the power of the max-levelled Skills used in unison were insane, her strength could easily trample over the zombies as she could kill them efficiently.

’Max-levelled Skills....’ Zoey thought, as she spun in a crazy 360° rotation like a tornado, cutting down multiple zombies and monsters, before avoiding an atttack and leaping high into the air, looking at the hordes of zombies that looked up at her and some even jumping high into the air to grab her.

’The power from these skills are insane when they have reached their peak, and using them all like this...is so rewarding.’ Zoey contemplated, as she crashed into the hordes of monsters with [Grace Of The Wind], her sword stabbed deep into the earth and splitting the ground, creating a massive shockwaves that blew back her enemies.

[Mana: 60%]

’However....my Mana...is suffering, so many skills activated at once is extremely reckless, but I don’t have a choice, I need to every drop of Mana I have to defeat these bastards!’ Zoey thought, firing a bolt of thunder at the zombies, shocking them greately as multiple zombies were blown away by a thunderous explosion, multiple meeting their ends.

’I..I’m so tired.’ Zoeu thought, clutching her head as her head pounded. She hadn’t slept properly for a while, and staying focused was a difficult task, the only thing saving her was her [Heightened Senses] Talent which enhanced her focus to superhuman levels, allowing to fight more efficiently, even with her headache and drowsiness.

[Stamina: 40%]

’Haargh!!!’ Zoey crashed her sword on her enemies with unrivaled might, cutting them down fiercely as the battle continued to rage on.

The enemies were alot in number, but Zoey’s strength was capable of handling them all as she fought with all she had on the battlefield.

"Haah...ha...." Zoey panted, catching her breath. She leaped back from her enemies, catching her breath as she looked back with her [Heightened Senses], looking at the mansion and searching if anyone was still there, and thankfully they weren’t.

’My chest is burning, and my arms are throbbing.’ Zoey thought, as she looked at the zombies dashing towards her, just a few more, then she wouldn’t need to worry about them anymore, the bosses being her last opponents, as they were still approaching from afar, huge zombies that were insanely powerful, she could feel their strength, and could see the aura’s they emitted.

’I can take them on....’ Zoey thought, their auras were crimson, but not so much, she too was a threat, and she would take them down and clear the Trial.

[Time Remaining: 00 Hours, 30 Minutes, 24 Seconds]

’30 minutes, If I can just survive for 30 minutes, then it will all be over’ Zoey thought, taking out a new [Stone Carved Shield], the ground beneath her bathed in blood and corpses, and remains of the many [Stone Carved Shield]s she had broken.

The zombies charged once more, and the battle resumed once more, with Zoey battling to finish off the remaining zombies, before the real battle starts.

Zoey stood tall, her face and clothes full of the zombie’s blood, and her crimson hair, taking a mixture green, purple, and crimson blood. The zombies and monsters were all obliterated, her [Volt Requiem] Sword still gripped tightly in her hand, a few cracks running on the blades surface.

’It’s chipped badly...the sword might not last long. Sigh.’ Zoey sighed, this Trial was extremely demanding. First her sleep, then her [Knight’s Oath] Sword, and now it looks like her [Volt Requiem] sword won’t be here to stay as well.

’What will I tell Sarina if it does break....maybe, the blacksmith could repair it, and restore it to full condition.’ Zoey contemplated, but she couldn’t contemplate any further as the bosses were here.

[Time Remaining: 00 Hours, 20 Minutes, 04 Seconds]

Three massive zombies walked towards her, their forms bulging with muscle, a poisonous green steam emitting from their bodies. Their eyes glowed with a bright golden colour, a powerful Core in the middle of their chest, pulsing with Mana and unspoken power.

Zoey instinctively readied herself, standing in a knight’s stance as her aura flared up, her [Stone Carved Shield] poised infront of her to block attacks, and her [Volt Requiem] sword humming with lightning as it crackled menacingly.

’Here we g-’ Before Zoey could process a thought, one of the giant hulks of zombies vanished into thin air, causing her heart to skip a beat as in the next instant, the zombie’s massive fist was in her face.

BAM!!

Zoey coughed a mouthful of blood as she was sent flying by the powerful blow of the zombie, which knocked her miles away, her [Stone Carved Shield] breaking insantly from a single attack, her [Volt Requiem] sword being flung out of her hand.

The sword spun in the air crazily, before being stabbed firmly into the ground, far from Zoey’s position as she winced and groaned from the pain of being punched so hard.

’What the hell! How could they mo-’ As soon as the thought entered her mind, Zoey looked up to see a massive zombie crashing down upon her, but she was ready this time.

Zoey barely avoided the attack as she managed to leap out of the way in time, rolling on the ground as a massive crack appeared at where she was standing, dust clouds spreading everywhere as it swallowed Zoey’s figure whole.

’My sword...’ Zoey looked at her hand, noticing that [Volt Requiem] was gone as she quickly bolted out of the dust cloud, running to put some distance between them. She spotted her sword, deeply stabbed into the ground, and she needed to go grab it as she tried to move away from the zombie bosses.

CRASH!!!

The ground split again as Zoey managed to avoid another attack, dodging it barely with her [Heightened Senses] and movement speed, sweat breaking down her face as she panted greately.

"They won’t let me get close. They know I want to grab my sword, but they keep blocking my path towards it." Zoey muttered , glancing around her as she saw the zombies surround her from all sides, emitting poisonous fumes.

"Cough! Cough!" Zoey choked as some of the gas entered her system, causing her to choke out blood as she was poisoned, her eyes turning crimson, small traces of blood leaking from her eyes.

[Health: 66%]

Her health flashed before her, it was slowly going down from the effects of the poison, and the massive blow dealt to her by that one attack. Pain coarsed through her body as the attack left her disoriented, and affected her Stamina greately.

[Equivalent Exchange] was both a blessing, and a curse, and she couldn’t afford being hit anymore.

’This is going to be hard to deal with.’ Zoey thought, wiping the blood leaking from her mouth, the taste irony taste lingering on her tongue.
