Chapter 75: Chapter 74: Berserker’s Waltz

CRASH!! BAM!!!

Zoey avoided the attacks of the three boss zombies, their speed and destructive might overwhelming her, but she couldn’t give up, she had to reach her [Volt Requiem] Sword, and start a counter attack.

’Damn it!’ Zoey thought as she started to run, her feet pounding on the ground as she moved with swift movements, appearing like a blur of speed as she ran towards the sword, but before she could reach it, another zombie came in her way.

Zoey leaped to the side as she dodged a crushing slam of the zombies hand, the sword coming into view as time slowed down around her.

A powerful gust of wind appeared beneath the soles of her feet, blasting her towards the sword as she quickly grabbed it mid-air, twisting in the air before landing on her feet, her aura flaring up.

"I’m going to make you pay for that." Zoey declared , pointing the tip of the [Volt Requiem] sword at them, her eyes full of rage.

With a swift dash she charged towards the bosses, her movements quick as she poised her sword ready to attack.

The battle resumed, with the bosses proving to being extremely difficult to deal with. Their powerful attacks, and incredible speed, make them a threat far beyond anything Zoey had faced before, but she wasn’t going to go down without a fight.

’HAAAAH!!’ Zoey slammed her sword down on the head of a zombie boss, shortly after she had managed to gain an opening. However, just as the sword was going to reach it’s head, it quickly blocked the attack with it’s arm, taking on the damage before pushing her away.

Zoey grunted as she flung back, flying through the air, before landing on the ground.

’These guys...they’re as strong as that B-Rank Hunter...’ Zoey thought, referring to Kyle Zenith inwardly, the strongest B-Rank Hunter in Sunrow City. She recalled how she had almost lost to him during their sparring match, only being able to win with the Beserk State from her [King’s Fury] Skill by catching him by suprise.

But battling three opponents of the same caliber was something she was extremely concerned about, utilizing her skills was draining her Mana quickly, she had to make use of [Concentration Breathing] to slow down the amount of Mana that was rapidly being lost.

’Damn...this...is so difficult.’ Zoey thought, ducking underneath a punch from a zombie, before retaliating with a stab to it’s chest, managing to damage it somewhat as the beast grunted in pain.

Zoey didn’t stop there however, as she continued to deliver a flurry of slashes at the zombie, her movements a blur as she was twice as fast now, managing to deal many cuts all over it’s body.

"GRAAAAAGH!!!" The zombie roared in pain as it saw the damage done by Zoey’s attacks, it immediately grew frustrated as it slapped Zoey away with it’s massive hand, flinging her back as she landed on the ground brutally.

Zoey crashed onto the ground, coughing and gasping for air as her body throbed with immense pain all over, her strength feeling as if it were fading as her stamina was close to running out, her Mana on also being close to exhausted as well.

"I need to...fight harder!" Zoey pushed herself off the ground immediately, twisting in the air as she gripped her sword tighter, her eyes burning with determination. Even with her injuries, her aching muscles, her blurry vision, her determination was still fierce. She wouldn’t lose, she can’t die yet, she will conquer.

"HAAAAAAAH!" Zoey roared as she leaped with fury, the ground breaking beneath her as her figure drenched in the crimson flame of an aura, burned fiercely than ever before, her rage reaching it’s peak.

Zoey flipped her sword in her hand, grabbing it by the hilt hard as she positioned it above her head, appearing in the face of a giant zombie. With immense strength and fury coursing through her, her sword crackled wildly, sparks flying everywhere as she stabbed the blade into the giant’s skull.

The giant roared in pain, thrashing wildly, but Zoey wasn’t done yet. She continued to stab it, multiple times, even as blood splurged out all over her, she kept going, determined to bring the beast down.

’!!!’ Zoey quickly turned her head to an incoming attack, and leaping above the giant she was standing on, she watched as a massive fist crashed into the face of the giant she was stabbing, knocking him over.

"You’re next!" Zoey yelled as she descended and delivered a stab through the arm of the giant, before withdrawing her sword and running up it’s arm with quick speed, reaching it’s face as she delivered a slash at it’s throat, an attack she hadn’t done in a bit.

The giant choked as Zoey’s blade slithered it’s throat, drawing blood to spill everywhere as it tried to stop the bleeding with it’s rough hands, but Zoey wasn’t going to let it, as she jumped all around the beast and began to mutilate it all over, delivering strong slashes imbued with the rage of thunder all over it’s body.

"Cough!! Cough! No, not yet, damn it!" Zoey stepped back, watching as the giant fell to the ground, dead.

She coughed horribly, the poison in her veins growing worse as she more and more blood left her mouth and onto her hand, her throat feeling dry and irony, her saliva dry in her mouth, blood leaking from it.

The second giant also fell shortly after, it’s giant body crashing onto the ground, it’s massive skull splitting open as blood and brain matter splattered onto the ground, dust settling all around it’s form.

[Health: 34%]

[Mana: 26%]

[Stamina: 31%]

’Two down, just one more...’ Zoey thought, looking at the last zombie in the distance, it’s eyes observing the situation more calmly, unlike the others who were just brute forcing their way into the fight, this one, was definitely more intelligent.

"I need...to heal...otherwise...I might..." Zoey’s eyes widened immediately as she thought of the word "Heal", a realization immediately dawning upon her as she remembered something she had been given the moment she was about to enter her first D-Rank Dungeon, the Lizardmen Cavern.

"Potions...I have potions!" Zoey muttered as she opened her [Inventory] and immediately took out a [Health Recovery Potion], it was a D-Rank potion, nothing too special, it’s effects were meager to say the least, but in this situation, she was extremely grateful for such a thing.

Zoey immediately plopped the potion and drank it down whole, swallowing the contents of the potion. Immediately as she did, she threw away the empty glass, and looked at her health in the Status Window.

[Health: 40%]

It had risen to 40%, not a huge increase, as C to B-Rank Potions would need to be used to have a better effect on her, as these were too weak to support her Vitality, but she still had a few others in her [Inventory], even if the recovery was small, she would still take it.

"What is it....doing...why is it just standing there...." Zoey thought, her eyes narrowing slightly as she saw the zombie standing above the corpses of his brothers, it’s expression darkening, the air around it shifting.

Zoey quickly finished all the other [Health Recovery Potions], and continued to watch the zombie, instinctively readying herself as she gripped her [Volt Requiem] Sword tighter in her hands.

Seconds passed, feeling like an eternity under the tension that weighed down onto her heavily.

[Time Remaining: 00 Hours, 11 Minutes, 27 Seconds]

’It’s wasting time....this is just benefiting me, honestly.’ Zoey thought, narrowing her eyes.

’But I can’t hold back, I need to finish this fight, now!!’ Zoey thought, leaning back a bit, before shooting forward like a bullet, honing in on the zombie, sword raised high to attack.

The zombie remained still, until Zoey was right in it’s face. Just as she was about to stab into it, the zombie looked at her with a devilish glare that made her heart stop in that instant, as she saw the crimson eyes of the zombie, full of hatred and malice, it’s rage evident as the aura of bloodlust boiled in the air.

Zoey parried an attack from the zombie with a [Stone Carved Shield], and as expected, she was blown away by it’s newfound immense strength, the shield breaking immediately upon coming in contact with it’s attack.

Zoey fell to the ground with a swift flip, landing on her feet. The beast was screaming in rage, crying over the loss of it’s brothers as it went crazy, it’s body bulding with newfound power, it’s eyes glowing crazily as power coarsed through it’s veins.

"It’s going berserk, I didn’t think it was a monster capable of doing that." Zoey said to herself, shuddering slightly under the massive power radiating from the zombie as it laid it’s bloodlustful eyes onto her, it’s body trembling uncontrollably.

"ROAAAAAR!!!" The zombie roared into the skies, causing the ground around it to break. It instantly charged at her, it’s speed quick, almost non-visible as it moved like a blur of movement, appearing infront of Zoey instantly.

Time slowed down as the massive fist of the beast was approaching Zoey, her face fully locked onto the threat, her head hung low, the wind blowing through her hair.

"You’re not the only one who can go Beserk." Zoey said with a silent whisper, immediately parrying the blow of the zombie and pushing it back a bit, another [Stone Carved Shield] breaking from the impact.

The zombie looked at Zoey confused for a moment, seeing an insanely powerful crimson aura surrounding her now. Her muscles bulged, thrumming with power.

Veins, and runes were all over her body, supplying her with even more power as they shined crimson all over, a psychotic grin on her face as she let out a crazy laugh. She had entered a state of both beserk rage, and physcotic madness, as both her pride and love for battle have reached their peak.

The zombie let out a crazed roar, before dashing at her again, this time, Zoey dashed too, raising her sword as they both neared each other at insane speeds, their aura’s flaring up rapidly.

"Yes! Yes! Come at me~!" Zoey laughed, the battle raging on.
