Chapter 62: Chapter 61: Eyes of a Devil, Face of an Angel
Inside an office of the fortified mansion, a man with a stern look sat at his desk. Before him, stood a very beautiful woman that wore long, thin robes that left little imagination to the eye, her cleavage and charming smile brought a smile to his face as the heat in body increased, a devilish grin forming on his lips.
"Don’t smile at me like that~" The woman teased, her voice as smooth as honey.
"How can I not? You’re utterly beautiful, and the fact that you belong to me now, after saving your life and taking you in, makes you irresistible." The man said, grabbing her wrist as he pulled her close, his eyes full of lust as he met hers.
Just then, before any of them could ignite the fierce storms of passion between them both, a knock sounded on the door. The man’s face twisted, gritting his teeth as he wondered who could possibly disturb him this late at night.
"What is it?" The man’s angry voice sounded, full of irritation.
"Sir! Liam and Frank have returned." Another voice sounded from behind the door, belonging to a servant of the mansion.
The man’s eyes immediately widened upon hearing that, a smile blooming on his face as he couldn’t believe it.
"Sent them in." The man ordered.
The door swung open as the servant pushed open the door of the office, standing at the door as Liam and Frank entered, with nothing in their hands, their expressions stern and a with a bit of worry.
The man frowned upon seeing this, he had expected them to bring back supplies, but he was left brought nothing. He had given them a place to stay, fed them, and gave them protection, and this is how they repay him?
"Where’s the food!? The supplies!?" The man asked as he shot up from his chair, his eyes full of hatred as he stared at his two men in fury.
"Boss! We actually did secure supplies and food! However, before we could bring them back, we were attacked and our supplies were taken from us!" Liam lied, trying his best to sound as believable as possible.
"Is this true? Frank?" The mafia boss asked, looking at Frank with suspicion laced in his eyes.
"Y..yes sir!" Frank hesitated to lie for a moment, but the thought of being killed by the boss itself was more terrifying than facing the red haired woman themselves, so he had no choice but to lie in order to preserve their lives.
"But I gave you a gun and a machete! You should’ve been able to defend yourselves just fine!" The boss said.
"Boss, although you may not believe us, the person who robbed us wasn’t normal. She was very strong, fast, and could easily cut through monsters as if they were nothing!" Frank said, "Even if we wanted to defend ourselves, the bullets of the pistol were finished prior encountering her, facing her directly would’ve gotten us killed."
"That’s bullshit!" The boss said, refusing to believe the situation, "How can someone like that actually exist? Do you take me for a fool? Do you want me to come and kill you myself? Huh!?" The boss’s tone grew more and more serious, his anger palpable.
"Boss, we wouldn’t come back empty handed if we knew that you were gonna kill us, seriously." Liam chimed in.
"You have to believe us, Boss, this person is extremely dangerous, and could possibly be a threat to our base as well." Frank said, but deep inside, he knew he would regret this decision. Even if it mean’t that he would live for now, it doesn’t stop the girl from coming to kill them if she was looking for revenge.
Just imagining the wrath of the girl was enough to make him tremble slightly.
The mafia boss found this information intriguing, although it was very suspicious for someone to have strength like that, it wasn’t an impossibility anymore, since monsters and zombies bloomed into their world, causing destruction.
It only made sense to him, if the girl they faced was some sort of mutant.
"This girl, did she have anything weird about her? Like strange features? Extra arms or anything like that?" The mafia boss asked.
’Yes!! He bought it! He bought the lie! Hahahaha!’ Liam celebrated inwardly, rejoicing out of happiness.
"No boss, she didn’t have anything weird about her, she looked human. However, beside her normal appearance, her feats are nothing short of superhuman, so when dealing with her, we should approach with great caution."
Interesting....
The boss grew interested in the superhuman his two henchmen were talking about, sure she was undeniably a threat, and stole his supplies too, he was very interested on bringing the girl over to his side.
With a superhuman on their side, possessing the strength and powerful combat ability, they wouldn’t have anything to worry about in the Apocalypse. This person could become a very valuable asset to their cause.
Only one question bothered him tho....
"Is she pretty?" The man asked, a smug grin forming on his lips, teetering on the edge of perverted.
The woman he was flirting with previously got shocked upon hearing this question, it was as if her whole worth had been stolen by a girl that could be their next big threat beside the apocalypse.
Upon hearing the question, a sinister grin formed on Liam’s lips as he instinctively knew that he had won.
The boss had taken the bait, and would even be stupid enough to try and possibly recruit a superhuman that almost killed the two of them, but the question of her being pretty made him know that the boss definetly had other uses for her beside power and protection.
"Yes boss, she is incredibly beautiful." Liam said, speaking the truth.
’But beneath all of that beauty lies a ferocious demon....’ He couldn’t hell but grin.
"Hehehe, excellent." The boss’s eyes gleamed with malice upon hearing the confirmation.
----------------
The next morning of the Apocalypse had arrived, the crimson, terrifying red orb known as the sun hung itself high in the sky. Monsters and zombies roamed around, searching for humans to feast on.
The sounds of fighting and gunshots echoed past the gates of the mansion as the henchmen and the zombies of the Apocalypse fought each other fiercely, the henchmen were starting to become overwhelmed as the monsters wouldn’t go down so easily.
"What the hell!? Why are they so durable!" A panicked scream rang from a henchmen as he took his extremely sharp machete and hacked it into the neck of a zombie, but the sword only cut halfway through, getting stuck in the neck of the beast.
The zombie moved and quickly caught the arms of the henchmen as it bit down hard on the henchmen’s arm, a sharp snapping sound ringing out as the henchmen’s arm was bitten off in half, a pained scream howling in the air as the henchmen screamed.
"Damn it." Another henchmen grit his teeth, "I can’t have you screaming like that, more noise is just going to keep attracting more zombies." The henchmen said, a man wearing shades and smoking a cigarette.
The man pointed his pistol at the henchmen’s head and, without mercy, shot a bullet through the head of the henchmen that was getting devoured by the zombie.
"Keep firing! Their numbers are dwindling!" The man with the shades shouted, firing his pistols at the zombies infront of him, "Be careful! The zombies won’t be easily killed by close up attacks!"
The war against the zombies raged on as the henchmen of the base fought hard against the hordes of zombies that were attempting to break in through to the mansion, the men were getting overwhelmed by the zombies, but were barely able to hold on against the fight of the zombies.
"Damn it! Since when have the zombies gotten so strong!? It takes so many bullets to just kill one! Even with fucking headshots!" The man with shades grunted to himself in frustration, as he took two magazines and quickly reloaded the ammo for his pistols, getting back into firing.
"Weapons are incredibly hard to stumble upon in this hellscape, we’re sacrificing alot just to defend our base right now, damn it."
The war raged on for a while, before finally coming to a stop. Dead bodies of both humans and zombies littered the grounds as the outcome of the war was very taxing, as many of the henchmen belonging to the mansion have died, heavily weakening their military power.
"Shit." The man cursed under his breath, running a hand through his hair as he looked at the sight of ruin before him.
’I can’t believe we’ve lost so many people after just one attack!’
Their base was located in a very well hidden area, a bit far from the city. Zombies and monsters shouldn’t have been able to find them so easily, nor be able to grow so strong after just one night, things were starting to look terrible for them, as he feared that they might not be able to survive long in the Apocalypse without a super powerful military force, and a rich supply of resources.
"I need to inform the Boss on this...." The man muttered to himself, turning around to walk towards the mansion grounds.
’If the rumors of that superhuman are true, then we will need to move quickly to recruit that person.’
