Chapter 61: Chapter 60: Don’t Come Back

"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" Zoey’s question made the room instantly fill with tension, her aura and powerful presence sent a powerful chill through the air that insantly made both men lose their breaths.

Her crimson eyes glowed in the dark as she stared the two men down with a gaze that was more terrifying than death itself, she appeared like a demon in mortal flesh, her beautiful short crimson hair, paired with her soft features, but fearsome deadly eyes, made her look terrifying in that moment, as if the two men were just ants facing off against a ferocious lion.

"A....wha...." The blonde haired man tried to form a sentence, but he was too afraid to process anything. His eyes were wide, pupils shrunk due to fear, and body trembling immensely out of fear.

He glanced at his partner, to find him in a similar state to him, immensely trembling out of fear.

’What is that!? Is that a monster!? But they look so human!’ The black haired man thought, his hand which was holding the machete, feeling unbearably heavy due to his grip loosening.

"Y...you bitch!... W-who do you think you are!" The black haired man yelled, his voice shaky out of fear, and his face showing a great deal of despair, but he refused to be put in his place by a woman, monster or not.

’Heh.’ Zoey couldn’t help but grin at the sight unfolding before her eyes, the sight of the two men trembling uncontrollably out of fear was incredibly amusing to her, as she even found the black haired man’s attempt to defy her more amusing.

’So this is the amount of pressure a B-Rank Hunter can exude on a non-awakened human? Now I understand how good it feels to be in power.’

Zoey thought, with power, as long as a Hunter had alot of it, they could either be a beacon of hope, or a disaster for mankind, as man Hunters gain a large ego boost after awakening a powerful Talent, making them more prone to being cocky and confident, as if they could rule the world or something.

’But enough fun, time to get serious now. I need answers.’ Zoey’s expression hardened once more as she put on a serious, and intimidating expression, the tension in the air increasing by a ton as Zoey purposefully let the mana in her body spread outwards, intimidating the men as the pressure on their bodies increased, making it hard for them to move.

"I’m not going to ask again, who are you people? And what are you doing here?" She asked, her tone commanding as it spread throughout the halls and into the ears of the men, intimidating them more as she started to walk towards them, her blade hung low to the ground, almost touching the floor as if she were to be dragging it.

"G...grgh! Who....who do you think you are!" The black haired man yelled, as he grabbed his machete and dashed towards Zoey, managing to break free from her intimidation a bit.

"What are you doing!? Get away from her!" The blonde man finally spoke, his worry evident as he warned his friend, but his friend was too far deep into his pride to listen to him.

Zoey narrowed her eyes as she subtly used her [Hardened Will] Skill, her power increasing slightly as she stared the black haired man deep into his eyes, the aura around her intensifying as he felt a huge sense of danger slam into his body, his hand unconsciously dropping the machete as he awkwardly stumbled out of fear, falling onto his face, his expression full of dread as he laid there sweating and trembling uncontrollably.

"So, you’re gonna talk, are you?" Zoey asked, kneeling down before the man as she brought her face down before his, her crimson eyes leaking immense bloodlust and killing intent that made the man yelp out of fear, but Zoey wasn’t going to let him go so easily as she grabbed the man by the collar and effortlessly lifted him in the air.

"Ah!" The black haired man screamed as he saw Zoey lifting hum up with one arm as if he wasn’t heavy, his body trembling as his face was full of sweat. He brought his hands infront of his chest and held them up as a sign of peace.

"I surrender! Please don’t kill me!" The black haired man said.

"Answer my question, and I might decide on whether you’ll live or not." Zoey asked, once again, her tone more irritated and pissed off as her eyes narrowed even more as she was starting to get annoyed by this guy.

’Of course, I won’t actually kill him. I’ll just intimidate him to get my answers, as these two bastards have lead some trouble to us.’ Zoey thought, closing her eyes as she could hear the sounds of the zombies some floors below them with her [Heightened Senses] Talent.

"I-I’m Liam! And t-that guy in the back is Frank!" Liam hastily introduced himself, stuttering out of fear and intimidation, as he felt that if he continued to delay answering her questions, he will get killed by her before the monsters on the lower floors could.

"W-we came here looking for shelter! T-the outside world is terrifying, and we d-don’t have anywhere else to go." Frank said.

"Now then." Zoey started as she dropped Liam from her grasp, causing him to fall to the ground. She stuck her [Knight’s Oath] sword in the ground as she crossed her arms, starting down Liam as she confronted them.

"What about the monsters and zombies you two have managed to lead here?" She asked, addressing the situation.

"H-how do you know?" Liam asked, confused as he looked behind him and behind Frank as he looked for the zombies that weren’t here yet, but she could somehow tell that they were making their way here.

"Ahh!" Frank screamed in fright as the zombies and monsters made their way up into the floor they were in, emerging from the stairs as they made their way towards them.

’Sigh. Damn it. This is exactly what I was worried about.’ Zoey sighed as she grabbed her [Knight’s Oath] blade from the ground and started to approach the monster horde with confident steps.

’They got stronger, but only slightly.’ Zoey thought, as she used her [Heightened Senses] Talent and saw the auras around the monsters and zombies, finding them to still be blue, but slightly stronger now.

"What are you doing!? You can’t seriously be thinking of taking on that whole horde are you? That’s just insane!" Frank said as he ran away from the monsters, and past Zoey who didn’t even bother to reply.

"Forget it, she’s crazy, atleast she’ll serve to be a distraction for the zombies while we find a place to hide." Liam said, grinning madly as he laughed wickedly under his breath, thinking that Zoey was going to get herself mutilated by the monsters, as he still hated being put into his place by a woman.

Just as they thought that Zoey going to get killed, as a ferocious animal beast lunged at her, leaping high into the air with it’s bared fangs, ready to bite at her face.

The beast was instantly sliced in two by Zoey who moved at incomprehensible speeds, the monsters blood and guts spilling as if fell to ground dead, a deep look of shock flashing on Liam and Frank’s faces as they watched Zoey effortlessly massacre the beasts.

"What....the hell..." Liam muttered in deep shock as he continued to watch the scene play out before him, the bodies of the beasts were starting to fill the floors as Zoey cut them down with her [Knight’s Oath] sword.

"This...can’t be real....what is she..." Frank asked himself, his body trembling.

After the relatively short battle, Zoey stood among the remains of the monsters she quickly dealt with, her sword drenched in blood, small drips falling to the floor, a deep chill surrounding her form.

’There’s still more down below. I need to get rid of them quickly.’ Zoey thought, glancing back at Frank and Liam with a death stare that made them freeze.

"Leave. And don’t come back, otherwise, I won’t be so kind the next time I see you both. Do you understand?" She asked, not even waiting for a reply as she made her way downstairs to continue eliminating the monsters that invaded their building.

’I’ll need to clean up after the bodies when I get back.’ Zoey thought, dissapearing into the lower floors with slow steps.

At the edges of the destroyed city, a large mansion stood tall. Fortified walls with barb wires and electric wires stood tall, surrounding the place. At the top of the mansion walls stood two guards who were keeping watch, guns in their hands as they kept a lookout for any monsters that may try to break into their safe haven.

This place belonged to a very dangerous mafia boss, who used his powerful influence to secure such a safe place and armed it with his men to survive in the apocalypse, his gang being one of the deadliest gangs, and the one that Liam and Frank belonged to.

"Ha...ha...we made it back." Liam’s breaths left his chest in huge huffs, as they ran through the streets of the apocalypse and barely managed to make it back to the Boss’s place.

"We’re safe, but what do we tell the Boss? We haven’t managed to find any food or supplies the past few days, he’s gonna be pissed." Frank said, worry evident in his tone.

Their boss wasn’t friendly, and wouldn’t want dead weight among his men at all, as they are just leeches that feed off him, and would need to be dealt with. In other words...killed to preserve more resources.

"Don’t worry, I have an idea. We’ll blame it on that girl back at that building." Liam suggested with a devilish grin.

"Wait seriously? You saw what she could do! You’re putting us in danger here!" Frank warned his friend.

"So what!? We’re already fucked! The boss could kill us because we didn’t manage to bring a single morsel of food back with us!" Liam said, pissed off.

"But, if we blame it on the girl, then the boss would divert his anger on the girl instead, ensuring us our lives, and getting rid of that bitch! We’ll just say that we did manage to find supplies and food, but the girl stole them from us! That way, the boss would spare us instead." Liam said.

"Plus. The girl is very pretty, the boss might want a new toy to play with."
