Chapter 63: Chapter 62: Knight of the Apocalypse

"What the hell!? They’re already this strong?" Zoey asked, blocking an attack from a zombie as she used her [Stone Carved Shield] to block a strong claw attack from the zombie, parrying the block with her unrivaled strength as she sent the zombie flying straight into a ruined house.

’It’s only been one night, and they’re already close to D-Rank!’ Zoey thought, dodging an attack from a zombie before she finished it with a clean slice to the head, decapitating the zombie as she moved with swift grace and agility.

She had been fighting the zombies outside of their building for a short while, now, the zombies have already gained some powerful sensing abilities as they could already locate their building, which mean’t that hiding wasn’t going to be a reliable option anymore.

[Time Remaining: 14 Hours, 23 Minutes, 02 Seconds]

’It’s only been eight hours, this is good for now. They’re still very weak, and I can easily take them on for the time being.’ She thought as she glanced at the time remaining for the Apocalypse to be over, her expression hardening.

’I haven’t used any abilities yet, as my strength alone is far too much for these guys to handle.’

Zoey dodged another blow from a zombie as she duck below it’s strike, before countering with a bash of her [Stone Carved Shield], knocking the zombie back as it was sent flying, and into the crowd of zombies that was starting to approach her from all sides.

"Daddy...is she going to be okay?" Lana asked her father as she looked at Zoey fighting the zombies to protect them, her figure a swift blur as she dealt with the zombies quickly, her sword flashing with each strike.

They were watching the battle unfold with brilliance, watching as how Zoey moved and dealt with the zombies with prowess that was just superhuman to them, a suprised and half look of worry flashing their eyes.

"Don’t worry, Lana," David said, his voice calm and reassured, placing a comforting hand on the head of his youngest daughter, "Zoey is a very strong girl, she can protect herself." David’s face was a bit stressed though as he watched the battle unfold.

The zombies were many and were going to continue increasing as more time passed, it was truly only a matter of time, as they silent placed their hopes in how long Zoey would last.

"Think of this as training." Zoey muttered to herself as her expression and concentration hardened, thinking of the battle as combat training rather than the deadly apocalypse it was proving to be.

Zoey quickly delivered a strong stab to the body of a zombie, piercing it, as well as a few other zombies with her [Knight’s Oath] Sword, before finishing them off with a graceful spin that finished off many zombies around herself as she twirled and whirled like a tornado, a powerful storm of wind that took down all in it’s path.

"Skreee!" A terrifying screech sounded in the air, immediately gaining Zoey’s attention as her eyes immediately landed on the threat.

The sound was coming from a large, black bat that emitted a soft dark glow around it’s body. It was headed towards the building which Zoey was protecting, more specifically, the top floors where David, Lana, and Celina were at, her eyes widening immediately in that moment as she realized that they were in danger.

"No you don’t!" Zoey said as she raised her hand at the bat, flames blasting to life as she fired a furious storm of fireballs with her [Fireball] Skill, immediately raking out the bat in a fiery explosion that boomed in the air.

"Ahhhh!" Celina screamed as she fell to the floor from the explosion, covering her head in fear as she trembled at the sight of the bat that was about to devour them, before it’s burned corpse fell from the sky and plummeted hard towards the ground, landing with a hard thud, it’s body emitting smoke.

"Come, we must not watch any longer, it’s too dangerous for us." David said, his voice a bit panicked as he grabbed Lana’s hand and helped pick up Celina, quickly running towards their room as they started to tremble a bit in fear.

"I hope they didn’t get hurt from that." Zoey gritted her teeth, breaking a small sweat as she continued to hack and slash at the zombies and monsters.

She fought like a valiant knight, using her [Stone Carved Shield] to block attacks and parry ferocious blows, while also attacking with grace, and brutal destruction with her [Knight’s Oath] Sword.

In the distance, a military jeep was driving in the ruined cities of the apocalypse, armed with dangerous men who wielded guns and machetes as they navigated through the destruction.

"Is this the area where you found the superhuman? Are you certain that they’re still located here?" The mafia boss asked, wearing a full bullet proof outfit that he got from raiding a police station, as well as a shotgun that was rested on his back.

"Yes sir, it’s very close. She’s located in a building just a few miles from here, she’s the one that stole our supplies!" Liam said, his tone feigning fake rage about him lying about the supplies being stolen by the superhuman.

"What does boss intend to do with her? Are you going to capture her and make her one of your new toys? With all of us combined, there’s no way we can lose to her now, especially with all the backup and weapons we have with us."

Liam continued, his tone beyond confident as he clocked his Ak-47 assault rifle, a mad grin on his face.

The mafia boss narrowed his eyes as he continued to drive the military jeep, "No, we’re not going to capture her, we’re going to join us instead. If her powers are indeed real, then she’ll be a very valuable asset to our cause." He said, his tone serious as he narrowed his eyes.

"Even if she’s superhuman, she’s going to need food, water, and shelter, and we have plenty of that. It’s not like she can live forever in the apocalypse, especially with the monsters growing stronger suddenly."

His expression turned more serious as he took a sharp turn, entering another cursed district as zombies and monsters started to run at them, "Shit! Start firing! Don’t let these bastards come close!"

The mafia boss ordered, his voice roaring as the men of the jeep immediately sprang to action, firing their guns at the zombies that tried to get on their jeep and attack them, gunshots and the sound of machetes cutting through the air, becoming a melody in the urgent battle as they continued to drive towards the superhuman’s location.

"You bastard!" The mafia boss yelled as a zombie that was hit by the car’s fast speeds, somehow managed to hold onto the car as it dug it’s bloody hands into the hood of the jeep, it’s fingers easily bypassing steel as it held onto the car.

"I got this boss!" Liam yelled as he aimed his Ak-47 at the zombie’s head and fired like a madman, multiple bullets flying and piercing the skull of the zombie.

"Arrghhhh!!" Liam roared as he continued to shoot at the zombie, even after multiple bullets had struck it’s skull, it barely showed any signs of penetration as the zombie’s head was just pushed back by the bullets for a short bit, before finally it’s skull cracked and made an opening for the bullets to pierce it’s brain, successfully killing it as it fell off the jeep and got crushed by the wheels of the car.

"Damn it, it takes so many bullets to just kill one damn zombie. We might need to look for another police station to try and get more weapons, or we might even need to trade with another base for more ammunition.....sigh."

Weapons and ammunition in the apocalypse were very scarce and valuable as one need to protect themselves at the hands of zombies and other terrifying creatures, often costing a good portion of food or water, or maybe even women as men would need to use women to reduce their stress in the Apocalypse.

"Wait....is that?" The mafia boss’s eyes widened as he saw something beyond spectacular unfolding before his eyes, as he saw a woman battling fiercely in against a horde of zombies and monsters with unbelievable power.

Her figure blurred as she dissapeared from her location, only for the heads of zombies and monsters to fly in the air, her sword flashing with a glistening light as she fought like a valiant knight, her movements graceful and focused as her expression maintained sheer determination and strong will.

"There she is boss...." Liam whispered, his tone lowering a bit out of fear as the thought of the crimson demonic eyes of the women scared him deeply, as he experienced what death felt like under her terrifing gaze.

"Holy shit....I can’t believe this." The mafia boss exclaimed, his jaw dropping in suprise as he suddenly stopped his jeep, observing tne battle coming to a close as the woman had brought down the last of the monsters, standing tall and imposing in the midst of dead bodies and monster corpses.

"..." Zoey slowly turned her head to look over her shoulder, her eyes narrowing as she looked behind her to see a jeep filled with people that didn’t appear to be very friendly, her grip tightening on her [Knight’s Oath] Sword.

"Looks like someone didn’t pay heed to the warning I gave them earlier."
