Chapter 155: Chapter 154: Raising a Bat as a Pet
"Okay, don’t worry, but how will I inform you if I find something out?" Lin Tian couldn’t use the legendary Long-distance Transmission, and she didn’t have a mobile phone, so how could they keep in touch?
"Give me your mobile phone number, and I’ll buy a mobile phone in a few days; they seem pretty fun. If necessary, I’ll contact you," the girl said with a smile, apparently not long after learning to use a mobile phone.
Lin Tian couldn’t help but marvel at her capacity to acquire knowledge, which was incredibly strong. His own ability to remember everything he saw was nothing compared to hers.
Speaking of mobile phone numbers, Lin Tian just remembered that his own phone was destroyed when he caught fire. He would have to buy a new one tomorrow. He recited a string of digits and gave her his mobile phone number. Since ancient times do not have Arabic numerals, and she had learned to use a mobile phone, she must have learned these numbers as well. Otherwise, she wouldn’t dare say that even college entrance exams would be no problem for her.
"Alright, this drop of zombie blood is yours now," said the girl as she took down the number and pointed her finger towards the suspended droplet of blood.
The droplet of blood silently flew toward Lin Tian, who opened his mouth and swallowed it. Upon entering his mouth, there was a sweet flavor—it seemed after becoming a zombie, his tastes had changed; others found it fishy, but he found it sweet.
Lin Tian didn’t feel anything right after swallowing the blood, but a few breaths later, a wave of heat suddenly emanated from his stomach, as if a pot of soup had boiled inside him.
"How can this be? Zombies are extremely yin creatures, aren’t they? Why does this blood seem like an extremely yang substance?" Lin Tian was very puzzled.
"This is a unique power of ours, the power of fire," the girl answered.
Before her words faded, a mark of flame appeared on Lin Tian’s forehead. The mark resembled a bunch of purple flames that were burning. He subconsciously touched his forehead but felt nothing there.
"This is..." Lin Tian used his x-ray vision to look at his forehead and noticed that the mark seemed innate, integrated with his skin.
"This is the mark that appears when the power of fire is initially stimulated," the girl explained to Lin Tian, seeing his confusion, and educated him about fire power.
"Why did it have to appear on the forehead, it could have been on the butt, for all I care. If someone discovers this, I might be taken to the Abnormal Human Research Center for dissection," Lin Tian complained.
"Abnormal Human Research Center?" The girl obviously did not understand what it meant.
"You know, like mental illnesses," Lin Tian said.
"Don’t worry, this mark will fade away after a while. It’s usually invisible and only appears when you stimulate the power of fire," the girl assured him as she reached out her tender hand and touched Lin Tian’s forehead, causing the mark to gradually disappear.
"That’s better," Lin Tian breathed a sigh of relief. If he went out with that mark on his forehead, people who didn’t know might think he was a cross-dresser, a creature neither male nor female.
"I have to go now, and I will take the sword with me. This sword’s purple flame cloud pattern naturally formed two ancient characters, ’Purple Flame.’ I will find a way to compensate for this Purple Flame Sword," The girl announced her intention to take the sword, which Lin Tian had expected since he figured she must have been drawn by the commotion he caused.
As for the golden sword being called Purple Flame or anything else, Lin Tian didn’t care; he had no use for it anyway. At most, he would use it to chop pork or peel fruit, and he would have to wrap something around the hilt to avoid getting burned again.
"Qingyao, be careful. This world isn’t as simple as it seems on the surface. Some Ancient Martial Artists or Demon Exterminating Masters can be very powerful. Don’t get misled by others," Lin Tian expressed his concerns, knowing that their time together was brief and she couldn’t stay.
He walked up to her and embraced her tightly, not minding that he was only covered in two leaves. The girl’s body was soft with a light, faint scent. This fragrance seemed to have settled over thousands of years; it was as if it came from afar, yet it lingered at the tip of his nose, intoxicating.
Without struggling, she let him hold her and softly said, "Before I go, I want to give you something."
Lin Tian suddenly felt an emptiness in his arms, and the girl had already appeared in front of him—it was a mystery how she had gotten out. She reached into her sleeve and pulled out a black object.
"A bat?" Lin Tian was astonished. Wasn’t this the same bat that the vampire had transformed into? How come there was another one?
"This bat is a bit special, it actually escaped the attack of the flames, but it’s seriously injured. Just feed it a little bit of zombie blood, and it should be revived. Remember, if you want to turn someone into a zombie, just inject the zombie blood into their bloodstream, and the transformation will be complete. Alright, I’m leaving."
After saying that, the girl disappeared, and she left the black bat on the ground.
To leave as soon as saying goodbye, flying is indeed convenient, but I wonder if it could be detected by radar and then shot down by a missile? Lin Tian suddenly had this bizarre thought.
He shook his head, dispelling the stray thoughts, and then squeezed a droplet of zombie blood from deep within his heart and dropped it into the mouth of the black bat.
A puff of black smoke arose from the bat, and after the smoke had dispersed, there stood a person in front of Lin Tian—an foreigner.
He was dressed in a tuxedo, about the same height as Lin Tian, with blond hair and youthful, handsome features. Lin Tian recognized him; he was the youngest looking of the six vampires.
Of course, one couldn’t determine a vampire’s real age from their appearance. For all Lin Tian knew, his age might already be in the hundreds. However, this one indeed didn’t seem that old.
After returning to human form, he looked confused at first upon seeing Lin Tian, and then his eyes gradually cleared. Lin Tian braced himself to fight him again, ready to show who was boss.
Unexpectedly, the vampire suddenly knelt on one knee, bowed his head, and said, "Master, thank you for saving my life."
Master, the vampire actually called me "master", what the hell is going on? Lin Tian pinched his chin, puzzled by this sudden turn of events.
"You’re calling me ’master’? Why?" Lin Tian asked in bewilderment.
"Master saved my life with the Holy Blood; my life now belongs to you. I cannot defy your orders, for if you retract the Holy Blood, my death will become permanent." The blond vampire answered very sincerely.
Again, this strange concept of "Holy Blood" emerges; tonight’s events are too mysterious, am I still on Earth? Lin Tian seriously wanted to let out a long sigh to the heavens.
"Stand up, what century is this that you’re still going on with this formality. What is your name?" Lin Tian felt awkward seeing someone kneel before him.
The vampire stood up and said, "My name is Rossi."
"Rossi? I thought foreign names were supposed to be very long?" Lin Tian felt the name sounded a bit like a Huaxia name when he heard it.
"I’ve heard before that Huaxia people find foreign surnames too long to remember, so I just use my first name," the vampire named Rossi explained seriously.
To think the vampire was quite attuned to human customs, Lin Tian also found the translated names of foreigners awkward.
"Well then, we’ll just call you Rossi. You don’t have to call me ’master’, just call me Lin Tian, Brother Lin, or Brother Tian, anything is fine. If you call me ’master’, others will think we’re fools," Lin Tian waved his hand and decided.
