Chapter 1055: Four eighty-one: descendants of the devil!
The first to undergo the Heavenly Eye Judgment was a ferocious werewolf.
Clearly, it felt there was an advantage in being first.
On the werewolf’s face was a ghastly scar; it was the one who had tortured a member of the Near-Human Tribe to death yesterday and then devoured them alive for dinner.
Not only that, but it was over three meters tall, even more powerful than the werewolf Lanling had drained into a mummy.
Among the several hundred Barbarian Prisoners, its martial prowess was likely the highest.
How savage and arrogant it was yesterday?
But now...
This once mighty werewolf was now obedient like a pup.
Because it was so tall, and the long-haired Shaman was only one meter tall. If it stood up straight, the venerable Shaman of the Chimera Tribe would only reach its knees.
Therefore, the powerful werewolf knelt down on the ground, with only the height of its head barely level with the Shaman in front.
The hairy little monstrosity Shaman extended a hand, or perhaps it shouldn’t be called a hand, but rather a claw, with four fingers.
He placed his hand atop the werewolf’s head, then closed his eyes.
Instantly, a bizarre aura of light and shadows enveloped the werewolf’s body, flickering with countless images within.
At the same time, a third eye inexplicably opened on the forehead of the one-meter-tall Shaman.
No wonder it’s called the Heavenly Eye Judgment; there really is a Heavenly Eye.
Half a minute later, the Shaman retracted his hand, closed the Heavenly Eye, and shook his head.
The werewolf immediately showed an expression of immense pain and despair, emitting a series of roars.
"Awoo..." Its final howl was heartrendingly poignant.
Then, the werewolf leaped into the volcano’s crater.
Moments later, a puff of smoke rose, and without so much as a scream, the werewolf was dead.
It was so powerful, with martial prowess many times that of Lanling!
Yet, without any resistance, it simply jumped into the volcano.
The werewolf’s tragic death caused no commotion.
The second Barbarian Prisoner walked across the platform at the crater’s edge, approaching the Shaman, and knelt down respectfully just the same.
The little monster Shaman placed his hand on his head, closed his eyes, and opened the Heavenly Eye on his forehead.
After just half a minute, he shook his head again.
The second Barbarian Prisoner didn’t let out any howl, but with a face full of gray defeat and despair, he stood up, staggered, and then leaped directly into the volcano.
The third, fourth, fifth...
These Barbarian Prisoners lined up one after the other, waiting for the Shaman’s Heavenly Eye Judgment.
Each judgment lasted only half a minute.
Afterward, these Barbarian Prisoners leaped into the volcano’s crater one by one.
Lanling noticed that among the twenty or so in front, not a single one had passed the Heavenly Eye Judgment; all had leapt into the lava and burned to death.
Instantly, he couldn’t help questioning.
What exactly are the standards of the Heavenly Eye Judgment?
The Chimera Tribe gathers hundreds of Barbarian refugees each time but only accepts ten into the tribe; what’s the point of this?
Even Lanling was starting to suspect that the Chimera Tribe was merely using the lives of more Barbarians to sacrifice to the volcano.
The Heavenly Eye Judgment continued!
Lanling watched as one Barbarian after another, like docile sheep, lined up to jump into the volcano, turning to ashes.
Time ticked away by the second.
Four hours later...
Today’s Heavenly Eye Judgment was half done, with three to four hundred people having completed it, leaving only a few dozen remaining.
But so far, only a mere four individuals had passed the Heavenly Eye Judgment!
It was a one percent chance of success, with the remaining ninety-nine percent all burning alive.
And at that moment...
Another werewolf emitted a desperate howl; it too had failed the Heavenly Eye Judgment and leapt into the volcano in utter despair.
Now Lanling truly wondered how many lives this volcano devoured each year?
The personal martial strength of the Barbarians exceeds that of the Human Kingdom by much, but they’ve been suppressed by the Human Kingdom over the years; Lanling used to be puzzled by this.
Now, he completely understood that not only did the Barbarians fight amongst themselves, fragmented like sand, but they also continuously wasted lives in such a manner. No wonder they can’t overcome the Human Kingdom.
At this moment, it was finally Mulong’s turn to undergo the Heavenly Eye Judgment.
He and Lanling were the only Near-Human Tribe members left.
"May the heavens bless me, may the heavens bless me..." Mulong prayed repeatedly, then walked onto the platform, bowing incessantly to the Shaman as if such actions would earn him mercy.
The diminutive Shaman extended a hand, placing it on his head, closed his eyes, opened the Heavenly Eye, and conducted the judgment.
A sphere of light and shadow engulfed Mulong’s entire body.
After half a minute, the Shaman opened his eyes and said, "You’ve passed."
Upon hearing this, Mulong could hardly believe his own ears, then he let out a shriek of wild ecstasy.
Then, he turned abruptly and ran over to hug Lanling, crying and shouting, "I’ve passed, I’ve passed, I no longer have to wander, I’m safe at last, I finally have the tribe’s protection."
Lanling smiled and said, "Congratulations."
"Next," the incredibly voluptuous black woman called out.
Lanling took a deep breath, holding the little girl as he walked over, facing the diminutive Shaman.
He didn’t kneel, but instead crouched down.
Immediately, the little monstrosity of a Shaman lifted his eyelids and gave Lanling a glance.
