Chapter 192: 006: Reunion
An arrogant cold laugh sounded from not far away.
Several apprentices walked over, wearing black cloaks with dark red patterns that were quite eye-catching.
In terms of dress, both the White Witch Council and the Black Tower Alliance usually dressed casually, but when attending formal occasions, there were very strict requirements. For example, now, the White Witch Council members were all wearing white cloaks, while the Black Tower Alliance was uniformly dressed in black cloaks.
"It’s the Black Tower."
"These guys are so arrogant!"
There was a murmur of whispers among the apprentices, and everyone’s eyes focused on the group swaggering over.
Lynch raised his eyes to look at the apprentice who had spoken first at the front of the group.
This was a male apprentice, wearing a high-level apprentice badge. He looked about thirty, with a sullen expression, a thin face, and an overall gloomy demeanor. Just one glance and it was clear that he was no pleasant character.
Lynch’s gaze stayed on the man’s face for a moment, somewhat curious.
For some reason, he felt that this man’s appearance looked somewhat familiar, yet he was sure he hadn’t met him before...
While Lynch was pondering this, Griss beside him frowned and said, "Caesar Heim..."
Heim?
Upon hearing Griss’s words, Lynch suddenly realized that this guy in front of him looked exactly like that William Heim, whom he had taken care of!
As they approached, Caesar turned to Griss in front of him and said, "Griss, what’s up? Is your Murphy Family still insisting on choosing the Order Camp? Following rules, doing everything by the book, you’ve been living like this for a thousand years—aren’t you tired of it?"
Griss replied, "It’s better than chaos and disorder, destroying the whole world—is that what you want?"
Caesar said, "When the fruit is ripe, it’s time to harvest. Don’t you understand? A thousand years have passed, and the Ancient Ruins have developed well. These resources, if left unused, will eventually be reclaimed by time, just like crops in the field—if not harvested when ripe, they’ll end up rotting."
Griss retorted, "And then what? Ruin this land, let rivers of blood flow, let corpses lie all over the place—will you be satisfied only when you’ve devastated the world completely?"
Caesar nonchalantly said, "Then vote for order again in the next millennium, just like the last one."
"A thousand years is enough time for these ’crops’ to grow back."
Griss said coldly, "Don’t sound so righteous; the victory a thousand years ago was snatched from bastards like you. If you want chaos, show your skills and stop the nonsense!"
"Heh."
Caesar sneered, "So let’s see who people trust more this time, you or us?"
With that, he gestured for Griss to look behind him.
A group of apprentices stood behind him, most of them wearing mid to high-level badges on their chests, and family crests visibly adorned them—clearly, they were purebloods from wizard families.
Griss glanced over, his brow furrowing deeply: "Stone family, Creek family... Shaman, even you’re on that side!"
His gaze stopped on a young man in his twenties.
The young man stepped forward, exposing an elegant smile: "The Schwick Family thinks the Heim Family is right. Rather than let crops rot in the field, the correct action should be to harvest when the fruits are ripe. Those confused are genuinely you guys."
"So many Black Wizards..."
"Quite a few wizard families are on their side..."
A murmur of whispers arose around them; the apprentices gathered here were evidently a bit anxious and apprehensive.
Caesar said, "If kind advice doesn’t work, then let us meet on the battlefield."
Pausing, his gaze fell on Lynch.
He sneered, "And you, the lucky little muggle, good luck won’t always be with you. You’d better stay in the safe zone and not show yourself. Don’t let me catch you, or I’ll make you realize what true cruelty means!"
"But this is only a temporary reprieve; once order collapses, I’ll settle all accounts with you for daring to touch someone from the Heim Family!"
Such hostility...
Lynch planned to give him a beating before deciding whether to kill him, but before he could act, a cold voice rang out behind him:
"Try touching him and see what happens!"
Orderly footsteps sounded, and a young girl led a group of apprentices in white cloaks over.
She was as beautiful as a mythical angel, her white skin radiating a holy glow, exuding a noble aura. The gloomy sky seemed to brighten with her arrival.
Caesar’s face darkened: "Avery Tavendish! So, the Tavendish Family still hasn’t learned its lesson, has it?"
Avery’s voice was cold, full of presence as she said, "Wherever you came from, go back there! Speaking an extra word to garbage like you is revolting. You want chaos, do you?"
"Then come on!"
Caesar’s face twisted for a moment but ultimately said nothing more and left with his people.
"Miss Avery!"
"It’s so great to see you!"
The crowd instantly surrounded Avery, giving her a hero’s welcome, and her actions truly deserved the apprentices’ admiration.
Avery greeted those around her with her usual approachable and friendly smile.
Soon, her gaze swept through the crowd and quickly landed on Lynch not far away.
A flash of joy was evident in her eyes as she walked over this way, her steps noticeably quickening.
Lynch hurriedly went to greet her, "Long time no see, Miss Avery."
Compared to ten years ago, Avery’s every expression, gesture, and word were unchanged, as if the separation had just happened yesterday.
However, at this moment, upon hearing Lynch’s greeting, her expression froze.
Her eyebrows shot up: "What did you call me?"
Lynch was taken aback, confused, "Miss Avery, what’s wrong?"
It was as if a raging flame had suddenly been doused with a pot of ice-cold water, instantly igniting.
Lynch visibly sensed Avery’s face suddenly turn cold.
"Heh!"
She squinted her eyes, ’politely’ and sarcastically said, "Long time no see, Mr. Lynch."
Alright then...
Lynch seemed to realize that he’d offended her somehow, but he couldn’t help it—there were so many apprentices, so many eyes watching. It wasn’t feasible to rush over for a hug or a passionate kiss, was it?
This... Lynch truly couldn’t do.
