Chapter 175: 014: Alchemy Encountered Again
Why is he here?
As Lynch was puzzling over this, Frey stepped forward. For some reason, she seemed very afraid of Grant. Lynch noticed that her steps unconsciously slowed down a bit, and she even took a deep breath.
Her expression was tense as she said, "I’ve found another apprentice skilled in biological transformation to see if he can help you."
Grant said irritably, "How many times has it been already? Do you have no sincerity at all?"
"Or are you..."
"Still treating me like a test subject?" His voice became severe.
Frey’s face changed and she quickly replied, "That’s absolutely not true. I’ve been doing my utmost to solve your problem, truly doing everything I can. But biological transformation isn’t my specialty. That’s Barton’s expertise. I’m truly not trying to deceive you."
It seemed certain now; this woman was indeed Frey.
Grant said, "You’d better be telling the truth."
The woman then turned and ordered Lynch, "Go examine his body and tell me what you can figure out, including how he was transformed and what modifications were made."
"Understood."
Lynch nodded and stepped forward.
Facing this terrifying alchemy monster once again, Lynch no longer felt the fear he once did. Instead, he was filled with curiosity.
He had thought before that if he ever had the chance, it would be fascinating to research this man. Unexpectedly, now he had the chance without any conflict arising.
He immediately began examining thoroughly.
"Tsk, tsk..."
"A masterpiece... truly a masterpiece..."
The more Lynch studied the alchemically modified man, the more astonished he became at the transformations.
His limbs, muscles, skin, and even each individual cell had undergone modifications, merging hundreds or thousands of different demons and magic plants. Yet despite such a diverse combination of living beings, there was no conflict, rejection, or even the slightest magical reaction—a truly incredible feat.
Frey asked, "What do you think?"
Lynch praised, "It’s practically a perfect work of art. To remodel an ordinary human to this nearly transcendent level is simply astonishing."
Frey’s eyes lit up.
She had brought many apprentices skilled in biological transformation to Grant in the past, but none of them could make sense of it, and all of them had been fed to the banshees. This apprentice before her was the first one to hit the key points directly.
Lynch continued, "This transformation is already halfway to transcendence. However, I don’t understand why the process stopped halfway. Why not go fully transcendent?"
The alchemically modified man’s transformation was something Lynch had read about in the Morris’s Bloodline Refining Manual. It was, in fact, a type of transcendent transformation with the goal of making an ordinary human become transcendent and wizard-like.
Yet on the alchemy man’s body, this transcendent transformation had been halted halfway and not fully completed.
Frey’s eyes sparkled with brilliance.
Even Grant’s voice took on a hint of excitement: "You know?"
Lynch nodded, "Transcendent transformation, yes, I know."
Frey immediately became excited. She hastily asked, "So do you know how to complete the remaining transformation?"
Lynch nodded again, "Yes, I do."
"Fantastic!"
Frey immediately commanded, "Quick, complete the transformation for him at once!"
Lynch didn’t move.
Frey froze for a moment, thinking her spiritual magic effect had worn off. She then cast another Seductive Whisper.
She lowered her neckline, exposing a snowy white cleavage, while placing a finger into her mouth and suggestively sucking on it. Her voice dripping with allure, she teased, "Ah... my dear... hurry... finish his transformation... once you’re done... we can do... what needs to be done..."
Yet Lynch still stood motionless.
Frey was perplexed, utterly unable to understand why her command wasn’t being obeyed.
As she was still puzzling over it, Lynch spoke.
He looked at her with a mocking smirk and said, "You didn’t seriously think a mere Intoxication combined with a Seductive Whisper would be enough to enslave me, did you?"
Frey’s face changed drastically: "You weren’t affected!"
Lynch replied, "What do you think?"
Frey’s expression became grim in an instant, "You cunning brat!"
She quickly backed away, distancing herself from Lynch at top speed. At the same time, the banshees from within the carriage all burst forth, baring their fangs and charging furiously at Lynch.
Facing these dozen monsters, each capable of easily killing a knight, Lynch displayed not the slightest trace of fear.
"The new sword isn’t yet bloodied. Perfect, I’ll use you lot to christen it!"
As he spoke, Lynch stretched out his right hand. The space before him distorted, and the Fearless Great Sword silently appeared.
Lynch grabbed the sword’s hilt and wasted no time charging straight at the dozen banshees.
"Squelch!"
The flash of the blade was brief but dazzling, instantly cleaving one banshee in half.
The other banshees’ faces shifted, and they quickly transformed into the appearances of delicate human girls, pitifully pleading,
"No... please..."
"Don’t kill us, okay?"
Perfect faces paired with weak, imploring tones—anyone else might fall under their illusion and struggle to strike them down. But Lynch, fortified with spiritual power, saw only foul-smelling sacks of flesh.
"Squelch-squelch-squelch!" A series of crisp slicing sounds echoed, as several banshees were torn apart on the spot.
Without pausing, Lynch wielded the great sword in broad, sweeping strokes to continue his slaughter. In a matter of moments, all ten-some banshees were hacked to pieces on the ground.
The events unfolded too quickly. From the banshees’ charge to their total annihilation, less than half a minute had passed—too fast for anyone to fully react.
Seeing her carefully nurtured magic pets all lying dead on the ground, Frey’s face grew terrifyingly grim.
"You..."
"You dare..."
Her head of violet hair bristled like a lion’s mane, while her slender and pale neck vibrated at an odd frequency. Her beautiful face darkened as a shadow spread outward from her center. She opened her mouth, and an ear-piercing shriek abruptly expanded.
High-level Apprentice Magic: Banshee’s Howl.
Seeing this spiritual attack capable of shattering minds and crushing souls was about to be unleashed, suddenly the space before Frey distorted, and in the next moment, Lynch, once far away, appeared right in front of her.
A hand shot forth and clamped firmly around that exquisitely raised swan-like neck.
The banshee’s howl abruptly halted.
