Chapter 173: Market 012
A few days later, at the Wizard Market.
This time, the Wizard Market was held... underground.
Located north of the Ramos Duchy near the ruins, an intact Acadia city had been split open by a Three-Ring Magic spell and buried beneath the ground. The market was convened under this underground ancient city.
Descending from the fissure in the earth.
The first thing that greeted the eye was the dim and eerie surroundings. Faint light seeped through the cracks in the stones above or emanated from some unknown luminous plants and minerals, casting mottled illumination on the ancient land.
Collapsed ancient buildings, broken stone columns, fractured archways, and cracked bluestone pavement covered with moss, with earthworms squirming across it.
"Tongue of Bodos, freshly procured from the Cross Forest in the Four-Ring Witch Domain, anyone interested?"
"Earth Dragon Bloodline! High-purity Earth Dragon Bloodline!"
"Oh, you bumpkins from the Ancient Ruins, hurry up and take a look here. I’ve got treasures you can only find in other Witch Domains across the continent."
"The Blood Moon War is coming soon. Haven’t you started arming yourselves yet?"
When Lynch arrived, the market was already lively, mysterious figures of various garbs had set up stalls along the broken streets, displaying bizarre goods on them, with constant shouts to attract buyers.
Lynch ventured deeper into the underground city, his brows furrowed, reflecting his current mood—
Frustration!
Just earlier, he had received a reply from the Tower. The letter fully affirmed his investigative report for this mission but outright rejected his request to send two wizards to destroy Diego.
The reason was straightforward.
The Ramos Duchy lay beyond the border, and both the Black Tower Alliance and the White Witch Council sought to avoid clashes between their wizards in this territory, as such incidents could easily escalate into a war between the two factions.
The Tower had sent him merely to understand what was happening in the region; as for the evil deeds of the Black Wizards here, that was their own business, and the Tower had no intention of interfering.
"What a pity..."
Lynch had been somewhat hopeful earlier, wishing he could use the Tower as a weapon to wipe out Diego. To that end, he had extensively written in his letter about the Black Wizards’ wickedness, the locals’ misery, and their impending despair.
Unfortunately, it was all for naught. The Tower had no interest in playing savior. Although the lives of the people here might hold some value, it was not enough to justify breaking their rules.
"Missing this chance will make securing the inheritance even harder..."
As just a High-level Apprentice, his odds were slim, and if Diego advanced to Wizard Level, there would be no chance at all.
With chaotic thoughts swirling, Lynch wandered around the market.
It was just as he anticipated; the goods available at the market were far more varied than what the Tower could provide. Starshine Dust, Shadow Spider Silk, Dragon Heart Crystal Stone... Many materials either unavailable or rare at the Tower were abundant here.
Lynch immediately began a spree of shopping. The frustration of missing out on the inheritance was diluted by the joy of spending.
Amid this spree, Lynch made an exciting discovery—
Earth Dragon Bloodline!
The Earth Dragon was a medium-sized Magic Creature, its appearance somewhat resembling Earth’s dinosaurs. It walked on two legs, with small and stubby forelimbs.
This creature was authentically a Wizard-level Magic Creature of the First Ring, and its bloodline components were highly compatible with the Fire Dragon Lizard’s bloodline components. Both originated from the Ancient Giant Dragon, meaning this could definitely elevate Parker’s bloodline tier.
Moreover,
The Earth Dragon belonged to the category of colossal species, and using its bloodline might even hold the possibility of solving Parker’s inability to grow physically.
"How much for this Earth Dragon bloodline?" Standing before the stall, Lynch immediately asked the price.
The seller was a middle-aged wizard with a full beard. He wasn’t wearing a cloak but rather a hunting outfit, complete with a leather hat—a look befitting a hunter. Judging by his muscular build, bones, and weaponry, he seemed specialized in Body Refinement.
Hearing Lynch’s inquiry, the vendor enthusiastically started his sales pitch: "Honorable guest, this Earth Dragon bloodline was procured at great effort from the Dragon Sleep Valley. Many of my companions perished for it. Unless you pay me 13 High-grade Magic Stones, I won’t let you take it."
Lynch frowned slightly: "That expensive?"
One High-grade Magic Stone was equivalent to 10,000 regular Magic Stones—13 High-grade Magic Stones meant a whopping 130,000 stones!
Lynch replied, "I don’t have that many Magic Stones on me. Can I pay with goods instead?"
Over the past ten years, his million Magic Stones had gradually been spent. Merely transforming Barton and Frankenstein had consumed tens of thousands of Magic Stones.
Currently, the Magic Stones he carried amounted to around seventy or eighty thousand, and that was from consistent earnings over the years.
"Goods?"
The man frowned slightly, clearly reluctant, but still politely asked, "What goods?"
Lynch retrieved some bizarre Magic Plants and biological anomalies from his Space Ring—these were products of his frequent experiments and modifications.
"This is a modified Magic Devouring Flower, which I’ve endowed with the stomach acid membrane of a Gluttonous Flower. In addition, it has been equipped with six stomach pouches. This single Magic Devouring Flower yields as much as twenty ordinary ones."
"This one I call the Pea Gatling Shooter. Let me demonstrate... Just like this, each pea has an attack power above eight degrees. Regular Middle and Low-level apprentices wouldn’t last more than a few seconds before being riddled with holes."
Magic Devouring Flowers, Pea Shooters, element-congregating Sunshine Grass—various upgraded Magic Plants and Transformed Magic Creatures dazzled the eye.
The man’s eyes lit up, clearly intrigued: "You made all these?"
Lynch nodded.
The man curiously regarded him but unfortunately couldn’t see Lynch’s face as it was hidden behind a mask. "I didn’t expect you to be a specialist in biological transformation."
Lynch asked, "So, can we trade?"
The man pondered for a moment before asking, "Hmm... How many Magic Stones do you have right now?"
Lynch answered honestly: "About seventy or eighty thousand."
The man selected one item from each type of Magic Plant and Transformed Magic Creature that Lynch displayed: "Alright, how about this—your Magic Stones plus these goods?"
Lynch wore a peculiar expression; the man picked just one item from each type, as if he were gathering samples.
Noticing Lynch’s hesitation, the man explained, "I have a friend who might be very interested in these transformations. I plan to show them to her, and if possible, I think we might have further chances to collaborate."
Ah...
Lynch nodded, "Alright."
Individually, the items were not very valuable—together, they amounted to at most twenty thousand Magic Stones.
The deal was swiftly finalized. The man then inquired about Lynch’s plans and, after learning Lynch intended to browse the market further, handed him a Short-legged Flower capable of coordinate tracking.
"We’ll be in touch later."
With that, the man departed quickly.
After bidding farewell to the man, Lynch continued wandering the market. Though he didn’t encounter treasures as critical as the Earth Dragon Bloodline, he did find items that piqued his interest.
Unfortunately, his funds were running dry. The earlier spree had emptied his wallet, so Lynch decided to set up his own stall at a vacant spot nearby.
The business was excellent.
The modified creatures and Magic Plants he sold were highly practical—enhancing cultivation, increasing elemental density, refining Magic Stones, and so forth. Once he displayed them, his stall quickly filled with eager customers, and within a short while, he had earned thousands of Magic Stones.
Lynch was counting his earnings happily when a familiar voice sounded:
"Make way, please! Excuse me, make way!"
The earlier vendor squeezed through the crowd and approached Lynch’s stall, accompanied by a woman.
He respectfully addressed the woman: "Ma’am, it’s him."
