Chapter 86: The thief!
Hamon continued, "Since she is the suspect...The men’s testimonies aren’t enough to prove it to the people. She’s so good at hiding her trails that it made it difficult to find any solid proof. So I ordered Merek to infiltrate the queen’s residence and manipulate some evidence to prove our claim before I approach the king about it." He elaborated.
Ara’s already frowned brows deepened at Hamon’s words. She understood so well what Merona was trying to do. She wanted to make Hamon the bad guy in front of the people, so they’d hate him more! But Merek infiltrating her residence was dangerous. But she was sure Hamon had ordered Merek for a reason, and he had accepted the mission.
"So what happened to Merek now?" She questioned curiously.
"Well...He has been gone for two days, and since he isn’t back yet. It means he has been caught, and his bloody clothes were sent this afternoon."
Her face darkened. There was only one possibility, "Does that mean he’s dead?"
"No, I believe he’s still alive...even though I couldn’t find him anywhere in her residence. I am going to bring him back tonight...but I am not exactly sure where He’s being kept at the moment."
Ara realized that while she was enjoying her time with Anne, Hamon had been busy searching for Merek. Although she wasn’t extremely fond of the bodyguard, they had a smooth working relationship. And the thought of his death did not sit well with her. Furthermore, if Hamon gave such a grave mission to Merek, it meant he trusted him so much. She wouldn’t want them to lose someone as capable as Merek.
"I will go with you. Give me an armor to wear as a disguise." She assured confidently.
Hamon was taken aback at her words.

Back at the room Anne was given. Anne had decided to soak herself in the bathtub before changing into her nightdress. She asked the maid to get some warm water for her, then she prepared the bathtub herself the way she wanted it.
She added spices of fragrance and red rose petals. After she was done, she admired her hard work with a pleased smile. Her legs were a little sore from walking around all day, this would help her relax a bit.
"You can leave, I’ll bath alone."
"Yes, milady." The maids who had brought the warm water left at her order. It felt awkward to Anne to undress in front of people she wasn’t used to. She’d rather bathe alone than let the maids at the palace do it for her.
"Can’t wait to step inside this breathtaking bathtub. Lalala~" she began humming pleasantly to herself as she undressed, the gown she wore slipped down her legs. Just as she was about to take off her undergarment.
THUD!
There was a loud noise that came from the direction of the bathroom window. Anne turned towards the place, she wondered what was that noise and moved slowly towards the window to peep, but before she could peep, the window suddenly opened and a person fell inside the bathroom.
The smell of blood overwhelmed her before she could process what she’d saw with her eyes, "Ahhhh!" Anne screamed in a loud voice which brought the maids standing outside running towards the door. They turned the door handle roughly, but Anne had already locked it from the inside.
"My lady, is everything alright?"
The maids voice brought Anne back to her senses, she looked closely at the man who had suddenly jumped in from the window. He was badly injured and wasn’t wearing a shirt...but he looked quite familiar.
"It’s you, you thief!"
Anne knew at once who the man was. He was the same person who had come to their mansion and she’d also seen him at the grand ball! Could it be that he had come to the palace to steal and was caught redhanded? She had looked for him everywhere at the grand ball but she couldn’t find him back then. And suddenly here he was in front of her.
"Were you finally caught by the prince’s men, huh?" She asked.
"My lady, what’s going on_"
"It’s nothing, I saw a big cockroach in the bathroom, it came in from the window, it took me by surprise. But am ok now." She replied to the maids outside.
"Oh, thank goodness. If you need anything, we are out here."
"Alright, thank you."
Anne approached Merek, who looked as if he would pass out anytime soon. There was a big wound on his side and was bleeding really badly. She wondered who did that to him. Suddenly she started to feel pity for him. He might bleed to death if she left him like that.
Before Anne knew it, she was on her knees beside him, "Hey, don’t close your eyes...you’re bleeding so much. Can you manage to walk?"
Merek blinked his eyes hazily at the question. How could he walk when he couldn’t even muster the energy to even speak?
When he didn’t say anything, Anne bent over and put his hand around her neck to help him stand so she could attend to his wound, but before she could even help him up. She heard a loud voice from outside the room.
"We are from the queen’s residence. And the man we are searching for went through the window of this room. Let us in for a moment to catch if he’s in there." The muscular soldier said to the maids standing outside.
"Y-you are not supposed to be in the crown Prince’s residence without his permission. You can’t enter." Said one of the maids. But the soldier pushed her with force out of his way.
"Ahhh!" The maids screamed.
Anne started to panick as she heard the commotion outside her door.
_could it be they are looking for this thief?_
Anne’s trembling eyes turned towards Merek who looked as if he had passed out. How could she hand him over to them? He doesn’t look ok. No she wouldn’t hand him over to them, he was her prey not theirs!
THUD! THUD!
There was a loud booming knock on the bathroom’s door. Anne glanced towards the door.
_What should I do now?!_
"Who’s in there?! Open the goddamn door in the name of the queen before we break it down!" The soldier warned from outside.
