Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 85: Crown prince’s chamber
Chapter 85: Crown prince’s chamber
Hamon seemed to have made many arrangements for their tour. The sisters were free to roam around the grounds without being stopped by any of the guards.
As Ara and Anne walked around, they saw many species of rare plants and flowers with ripping manmade lakes. When they entered a room, they saw portraits of long-ago kings.
In the palace grounds there were many buildings. As they stepped into one of the many buildings, it was a kind of museum that held all kinds of portraits of the long gone royal family. There were also peace offerings from other kingdoms and collections of unusual items not found in Findara.
After they stepped out of the museum like place, they were having a pleasant conversation when they arrived in front of another splendid building.
The guard, who had been silently guiding their path suddenly stood in front of them to block them from going further, "Am sorry, my ladies. But you cannot go in here..." He informed.
Anne gave him a questioning look, "And why is that?" She inquired.
"This is Her majesty’s residence, and you cannot enter without her permission. Am sorry."
"Oh, I see..." Ara said as she looked up at the humongous building with curiosity. Just then a carriage drove out of the gate. It was going at a fast speed, but Anne who had been looking towards the gate, caught a glimpse of a familiar person inside.
Her brows furrowed, "Why is Claire’s carriage coming out from the queen’s residence?" Anne murmured, and Ara who had been looking up at the building, glanced over at her sister’s comment.
"What do you mean?" Ara asked as she didn’t see who was in the carriage. "I think I saw Claire in that carriage that just drove out of the queen’s residence."
"Are you sure she’s the one?" She questioned as she was sure the rumors had said that Claire had confined herself to the Tudor’s mansion. It wasn’t that Claire could not go to the queen, but something wasn’t right if those two people who seemed to have no contact with each other suddenly met.
Ara stared at the back of the retreating carriage. Anne then spoke, "Maybe I saw wrong, it may not be her..."
"Mm, let’s go back then." Ara said.
The both of them turned away from the queen’s residence and spent their time viewing many other precious things. Seeing the outside of queen’s residence was enough for them. And after a long walk around, Ara felt fatigued and hungry, she then turned to Anne,
"I think that’s enough for now, it’s getting dark already let’s go and have dinner and watch the play Hamon had told us." She mumbled.
"Alright, let’s go."
Ara was extremely pleased to have spent this much time with Anne, as she was sure it would be the last chance she would have to be with her before her wedding.
As soon as they returned to the crown Prince’s residence. The dinner prepared for them seemed like it would break the table’s legs.
"Oh my, sister. It’s just the two of us...but that’s enough for about twenty people!" Even a foodie like Anne agreed the food was too much.
"...I know, right?"
Even Ara could not help but let her jaw drop at the sight of the amount of food. From the appetizers to the desserts, they was nothing that wasn’t the best Findara could offer.
As Ara sat down at the comfortable dinning chair and watched the play as well, she felt like she was in heaven. But...one thing was missing.
_Why is Hamon not here for dinner? What’s taking him this long?_
It seemed he might be too busy to join them for dinner. She didn’t even get the chance to secretly ask him what had happened. Even though being with Anne made her happy, the worry over Hamon was like a splinter in her throat. But she wasn’t in the position where he would inform her about everything going on around him.
When the mini play finally ended, Anne burst into applause, but Ara hadn’t been paying attention to whatever just took place on the platform.
As they finished and wrapped up the day’s activities, they made to the rooms prepared for them. Before Anne stepped into her own room, she turned and said,
"Sister, I know you miss your fiance. Just go and wish him goodnight in his room now. Goodnight!" Anne giggled as she closed the door to the room.
After watching Anne close the door, Ara turned around and headed towards the other direction. She hoped to find someone to show her to Hamon’s chamber. Fortunately, she came across a guard who was passing by the the hallway.
The guard halted his steps even before Ara stopped him, he then asked, "Why are you out here, my lady? You are not supposed_"
"Show me where His Highness’ chamber is." She ordered instead of answering.
The man was taken aback before he said, "His Highness, cannot meet you right now, he’s attending_"
"I said take me there right away." Ara ordered firmly her face stern. The guard flinched and answered with a nod of his head, "Alright, milady. Come this way, please."
Hamon’s chamber was far away from Ara’s. The room Ara and Anne were given were in the most secluded and scenic area of the palace, whereas the place the guard took her to, was more closer to the training site of the soldiers.
The guard knocked, then came Hamon’s voice from inside, "Enter." As the guard pushed the door opened, Hamon didn’t take note of Ara behind the man as he asked,
"What is it?"
"Your Highness_"
"I told him to bring me to your chamber." She said.
Ara’s sudden appearance caused a crease to appear between Hamon’s fine brows, "What brings you here?" He asked.
"I want to know what really happened earlier when you left."
Instead of replying to Ara, Hamon turned towards the guard, "You may leave."
"Yes, Your Highness." With a bow, the guard left.
After making sure the guard had left, Hamon walked towards Ara and said, "There are a lot of spies in my residence, so you should be careful what you say or where you go around here, future wife." He informed.
"Which is why I came at this time, it’s a perfect hour." She assured.
Hamon raised his brows, "You really lack self-awareness, don’t you? Coming to a man’s room at this hour, huh?" He laughed.
"Isn’t the night a perfect time for us?" She asked unsure.
He chuckled, "You say dangerous things, if someone hears you, they’d think you came to my chamber for another reason, which I don’t mind if you came here for that too." He teased.
Ara’s brows knitted together in confusion, "And what reason is that you’re talking about?" She asked cluelessly as she knew the prince’s mind was completely different from hers.
He sighed, "To spend the night with me of course. I wouldn’t mind that at all." He reassured.
"...!"
There was a moment of silence as Ara didn’t say anything and just stared at him with an expression that says, ’Are you serious?!’ She’d been worried about him for nothing all this while. But he seemed fine to her.
She cleared her throat and spoke, "Now that we are alone, can you tell me what happened earlier? Did something bad happen to Merek?" She asked.
Hamon responded naturally, as if he had no intention of hiding it from the beginning,
"Few days ago, I heard the news that some of my men were going around the small villages in Findara assassinating innocent people...but when I had some of my men look into it, they caught some of the men disguised as my soldiers. After being tortured they confessed that queen Merona sent them to do it."
"...?"
Hamon continued, "Since she is the suspect...The men’s testimonies aren’t enough to prove it to the people. She’s so good at hiding her trails that it made it difficult to find any solid proof. So I ordered Merek to infiltrate the queen’s residence and manipulate some evidence to prove our claim before I approach the king about it." He elaborated.
