Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 83: Problem
Chapter 83: Problem
Ara followed behind the man who was leading her back to the place she had left her sister. Come to think of it now, was Hamon treating her so generously because they were friends in their previous life? Until now, she’d thought the reason why he was being that way with her was because he was a Casanova, she had thought he was that way with every woman.
On the contrary, their relationship in the past was trivial, they were just friends.
_But...is this reason enough for him to be so good to me?_
It was true she’d desperately searched for Hamon at that time. However, she did not ask around for months or years, and had given up looking once she learned he left Greenwood. Furthermore, the time they spent together back then, remained found in her memories before she died. But was that friendship they had back then enough for Hamon to treat her this way?
_could there be something else I don’t know?_
She would ask him about that when she had the chance to talk to him again. As Ara was lost in thoughts as she walked.
"Sister Ara!" Ara was in her own thoughts as she followed behind the servants, at her sister’s voice she realized she was already at the place she had left Anne. She turned her head towards Anne, and saw her smiling brightly and waving into the air. Ara returned the smile as soon as she saw her.
"Where did you suddenly rush to earlier? Did you miss your fiance that much you couldn’t wait to see him, huh?" Anne teased.
"Ah, well...I Just remembered something I wanted to ask him..." Although Ara was scarce on the details. Anne nodded in understanding, "I know right? There are things that are only meant to be between lovers, so I understand why you left." Anne winked.
"Hey, that’s not what I meant!" Ara yelled at her hotly, but Anne just smirked. Ever since she’d found out about Ara’s relationship with the crown Prince, Anne enjoyed making fun of her like this.
Ara spoke quickly, her face flushed, "The crown Prince...I mean let’s go and greet him, since you haven’t met him yet."
Anne raised her brows, "Hmm, so you are already missing him so soon, right?"
"No way!" Ara’s cheeks turned crimson even more, and at the sight of it, Anne pressed down a smile. Ara had no idea that her sister was making fun of her because she liked to see her so embarrassed.
Ara quickly took Anne’s hand as they strolled in the glorious garden, as the sun was hidden behind the clouds, the weather was a bit gloomy.
__
As Ara and Anne stepped inside the room where Hamon was standing statuesque by the window as if lost in thoughts. Ara was still struggling with the fact that they had known each other before.
As they entered, Hamon slowly turned his head away from the window as he sensed their presence. His red eyes landed on the two.
Anne’s face turned bright, "Good day, brother-in-law. How have you been?"
Ara let out a small gasp as her eyes widened at how causally her sister was talking to Hamon. She glanced at him, but Hamon’s expression looked pleased as he said, "I’m fine. How about you?" He asked Anne, who replied with a smile, "Am fine, brother-in-law."
Anne said as she causally walked towards the comfortable looking sofa in the room and sat down, and Hamon didn’t seem to mind the way she familiarly treated him. Only Ara was still frozen at her sister’s behavior.
_Anne, why are you so insensitive sometimes!_ She scolded internally. It was beyond what she’d expected. She knew Anne was doing it because she thought Hamon was really in love with her.
Ara couldn’t hide her embarrassment nonetheless at how her sister was behaving.
Hamon sat opposite Anne on the sofa, "Anne, your sister once told me your favorite snacks, so I’ve asked the cook to prepare them in advance, do you want it now?" He questioned with a gentle smile as if he was talking with his own sister.
"Yes, brother-in-law. Thank you!" Anne exclaimed.
Ara was surprised to see them talk in a friendly way with each other, but she eventually relaxed. Watching them like this, made them really look like a family with Hamon.
"Sister, come and sit with us unless you plan to stand guard." Anne beckoned to her sister to come and sit. Ara approached. She wanted to sit next to Anne, but her sister was quick to block the space beside her with her legs. Then gestured towards Hamon with her chin,
"Go sit over there, the space here is too little for the both of us, sister."
Ara’s brows furrowed, "Anne, there’s a lot of space if you could keep your legs down_" before Ara could complete her words, Hamon had already shifted slightly to make space for her beside him, "Come here, let her be."
Her face burned. She repimanded herself several times in her mind.
_It’s all just an act, Ara. Play along._ she felt the more embarrassed to do this in front of Anne, who was smiling mischievously. She’d have to act in love with Hamon, both in public and in private. She schooled her feelings and slowly sat down next to Hamon with a calm expression. It was still awkward to her, but this was her place from now on.
KNOCK KNOCK
There was a sound of knocking on the door, and when she turned her head, she saw a young maid holding a tray with Oliver following behind her.
The maid carefully placed the tray of snacks and hot milk on the table, then left. Hamon then said to Anne,
"I have prepared a mini play for you two to watch in the evening. Anytime you come to the palace, you can watch."
"Oh my! Really?" Anne looked at him in admiration. And Ara was surprised at his unexpected arrangement. Mini plays were an expensive pastime of the high class. People from the theater would come to make a drama play in your house. The elites enjoyed such entertainment.
Ara was about to express her gratitude to Hamon, when_
Bang!
The door opened and Oliver rushed into the room with a pale expression on his face.
Ara could sense something was wrong. _ That look on his face doesn’t look good! Something is wrong._
Hamon’s brows furrowed in concern as he also noticed the look on the young man’s face. Oliver quickly strode towards Hamon in no time and said in a low voice.
"Your Highness, Merek didn’t return from the mission you sent him on to the queen’s palace...But his bloody clothes were sent to us just now."
At that moment Hamon’s expression turned grave. That wasn’t good!
