Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 82: Connected destiny
Chapter 82: Connected destiny
The door flung open, and Ara strode in completely flushed in anger. At her unexpected entrance, Oliver called out to her in a stuttering voice, "M-milady_"
Behind Ara were servants rushing after her as she strode towards him, "Your Highness...I mean Hamon! Why did you lie to me? Why didn’t you tell me you were the crown Prince of Findara_" she stopped as if realizing something.
Hamon’s red eyes widened in astonishment, but soon a pleased expression took over his face. She finally remembered!
He barked an order towards Oliver and the servants standing by the door, "Everyone scram."
"Yes, Your Highness." At his command everyone quickly hurried away and closed the door. Now they were the only ones left in the spacious room.
Ara cleared her throat, "Did we...really Come back in time? Why didn’t you tell me back then?"
Hamon gazed at her face for a long time, as if he was savoring her presence. It felt like the end to a long journey before they had finally met each other. "So you also...remember me now?" He asked still unsure.
"Of course! I wondered why you lied that we were once married! And not just that you lied to me back then...how is all this even possible?"
Hamon felt joy despite Ara’s annoyed expression. In fact, even if she had not come to him that day on the battlefield, he would have come to propose to her. Perhaps he was that desperate to have her at all costs.
_My destiny is connected to you. Only after I achieve you will I feel complete in this world. If I tell her I want her...Will she run to me or push me away again?_
Ara on the other hand, had no idea how all this was possible, she’d thought she was the only one who had the memories from the previous life...But Hamon also. And why didn’t she remember him at first? Ara didn’t like the way he had deceived her before, nor was she amused at the pleased expression on his face at the moment.
In their past life, A year after she’d left the Greenwood army in rage when she found out that Hamon was actually the Crown Prince of Findara, she discovered why he’d left the kingdom in the first place, recalling how badly she treated him due to her anger she felt slightly regretful and went to search for him in Greenwood, but he wasn’t there anymore. So she put her revenge for Cornell at front and put Hamon’s search aside.
She went to kill Cornell, but...He ended up killing her instead. She died without avenging her family’s death.
Before she died, the red stone had always reminded her of the friendship she once had with Hamon.
_This red stone...He also had the same back then._
She looked down at the necklace on her neck, the color always reminded her of his eyes. And he’d once told her it was a gift for his mother. "Do you still have that ring with you...your mother’s?"
Hamon nodded his head, "Yes...I still have it." He showed her the ring, which rested on his finger.
Ara was still lost. What kind of thing brought them back in time? It was even more confusing knowing Hamon had the past memories. "Do you know the reason for all this? I mean coming back in time?" She asked.
Hamon smiled faintly, of course he knew. When he came back to the past, he had found out that the stone they both had was a magical stone that grants one wish to the person who possessed it. And after making a wish on it, it turned dark red, which meant you can’t use it again. He was sure Ara had made some kind of a wish on hers, as it had already turned dark red. He wondered if she was the one who wished for the time to turn back.
"No. It’s hard to believe the time turned back..." He paused then continued to say, "The necklace on your neck, I think you should keep it safe, don’t let it fall in the wrong hands."
She gave him a questioning look at the vagueness of his words, but Hamon smiled as if he did not intend to explain further. He then asked,
"I have a burning question that I want to ask you...After you left back then, Did you come back to find me?"
Of course she did, she searched for him for days and weeks, and was told he left Greenwood few months after she had left. But Ara did not intend to tell him that, her expression remained indifferent when she said,
"No. I had no reasons to look for you, because you lied to me even though we were friends." She felt hurt at all the times Hamon lied and hid the truth from her, she’d considered him her savior, like a ray of light in her despairing darkness, he’d appeared at a moment she most needed him, and he’d brought her towards a brighter path, even though the pain and hurt from losing her family never vanished, there was no denying that his appearance in her life had brought a special warmth to her heart, through his guidance she had become the strong warrior she was today.
Hamon’s expression turned bitter, "Is that so..."
There was a subtle change in the atmosphere, but Ara looked over it. It was strange to think that the man who taught her how to wield a sword was Hamon. He seemed a little less dignified before than he currently was, but even then he was still handsome, his long silver hair had been cut short but that didn’t take away his allure in the slightest. However, his personality before felt quite different from the arrogance of Hamon now. What happened to him all those years? How did he manage himself?
She was flooded with curiosity all of a sudden, but she had no idea if he would answer her questions if she were to ask him directly.
As Ara was staring at Hamon, she was startled at her sudden realization.
"Oh." She had left Anne outside when she came running to Hamon. She had wanted to see him immediately after remembering the lost memories from her previous life. She had told her sister to wait in the garden. How could she had forgotten her there?
"I just remembered that I left Anne outside waiting, I’ll be right back." She mumbled.
"Hmm." He hummed.
Ara rushed towards the door, then paused and turn back towards Hamon, he remained the same as usual, but at that moment she thought again of how he was protective of her in her memories of him.
"Hamon..."
"Mm." At her voice, he turned his red eyes towards her. As their eyes met in midair. Ara spoke softly. "Thank you for everything. And for inviting us to the castle...It’s nice to think we were once friends."
Hamon smiled back. "Haven’t I told you before? If you’re thankful, then pay me back later."
Ara gave him a nod, "I’ll be sure to pay back the debt for everything you did for me in the past and in the present." She smiled and hurried out of the room. Hamon stared at her receding figure. Soon after she stepped out of the room, Oliver who had been standing outside returned.
"Your Highness, should I still ask the servants to prepare the room for the ladies as you said earlier?"
"Why not? Tell them to prepare the room as soon as possible."
"Yes. Your Highness."
Hamon had suggested to Ara before that since she would be getting married to him soon, her and Anne should spend the night in the castle to be able to tour the entire place and get familiar with the grounds.
Because Anne was present at the time he’d suggested that, Ara had said, "That’s a good idea. You are so sweet." Hamon smiled without even realizing as he remembered what she had called him.
There were many words in the world to describe him with, but the word, "Sweet" was not one of them.
"You have no idea how dark I am, Arabella." Hamon muttered to himself, he was clever not sweet. He wasn’t so ungrateful enough to hate Ara’s family.
_If you knew how much I’ve longed to have you. You would be surprised at how much I wanted you, my love._
Hamon would be both an angel and a devil to have Ara. He would make sure nothing would break them apart this time. She would be his! A devilish smile drew on his face at the thought.
