Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 47: Married before
Chapter 47: Married before
Ara held his gaze unblinkingly.
Hamon moved back to lean against the chair as he sighed in defeat, "I agreed to marry you because...we were once married before." He murmured reluctantly, but when he saw the look of bemusement on her face. He added, "In my dreams. I agreed to marry you because I saw you in my dreams."
"In your dreams?" Ara cast him a glare, she knew there was another reasons to it he was not telling her.
Hamon hummed, "Hmm." As he picked up his fork to eat. He glanced at her expression. How he wished she could remember everything just like he did, but he wouldn’t go back on his words on letting her remember by herself. If she never got the memories back...then he’d make new memories with her all over again. Just like they did in Greenwood kingdom.
"Is that so?" Ara asked unsure if he was telling the truth.
"Yes."
Ara was lost for words. It didn’t make any sense that he would be so generous to her because he saw her in his dreams, that was if it was even true. She wondered if she really had met him in her past life in some dim forgotten memories.
No matter how she thought about everything, these weren’t simple favors for a contract marriage partner. The prince had purchased an expensive box at the theater, and now the entire restaurant, then he even assigned Merek to her. Everything he said made no sense, she needed to find out by herself,
"Then why are you treating me so nicely if we haven’t met before?" Ara asked.
"Because we’re destined for each other...and no more questions, that’s all for today."
"But__"
"I can’t say more than that...The rest is up to you to figure out. I don’t want to ruin this relationship we have now by talking about the past that never existed to you." He remarked with seriousness in his tone.
The past that never existed to her? Ara’s eyes brimmed with questions, then she heard him continue in a reverent tone,
"The first time I met you...was the most memorable moments of my life...I only wish those moments still exist in your memories." Hamon stated with a bitter smile on his face.
Ara didn’t know how to feel at his intimate words, she had more to ask, but she bit her lips to hold back her questions, because she knew Hamon wouldn’t tell her more if she asked him anyway. There was no other way, she really had to find out for herself,
"Alright, I’ll remember it myself then." She stated firmly.
"I’ll wait for the day you remember." Hamon flashed her a gentle smile, his deep red eyes glowing fondly in the light.
Their dinner finally came to an end, as the staff of the restaurant rushed out to clear the table, while some brought in different types of desserts to the table.
Ara couldn’t even touch any of the desserts displayed on the table anymore as she repeatedly thought back on Hamon’s words.
When did they meet? Was it before her family ruin or was it after? How would she find out since he wasn’t telling her?
Ara was so lost in her thoughts when Hamon said something she didn’t hear, she glanced up at him, "Huh?"
Hamon repeated his question, "I said, the ball gowns. Do you have another one to wear to the grand ball?"
Ara had wanted to ask about the gowns, but forgot, as they were talking about something else, "Oh, No I don’t. But do you know where I can get a dress made before then?"
The corner of Hamon’s lips lifted up in a crooked smile as he said causally, " You won’t find any where in the south to get a gown made before the grand ball, even if I force them to make it."
"Oh..." She trailed off. With her mind in a mess. Does that mean she won’t be able to attend? She had promised Anne to get them a dress before the grand ball. Not even the crown Prince could help them get a gown made.
Anger welded up in her throat when she remembered Anne’s disappointed face, in the worst case, they wouldn’t attend the grand ball and she wouldn’t be able to make her official meeting with Hamon.
Just then Ara heard Hamon say, "But I can get you the gowns if you want."
Ara was quick to look up at him, "How?"
"You don’t have to worry about how, I’ll get them for you."
"Really?" Ara’s eyes widened. Hamon had said he obtained jewelry and women clothing too, she had assumed they were different from something one would wear to a ball.
Hamon noticed her uncertainty and said again, "I wouldn’t want anyone looking at your beauty at the ball...but I also wouldn’t like to disappoint my woman, I’ll get you the gowns no matter what."
Ara paused as blood rushed up to her face, not knowing what to respond when Hamon addressed her as his "Woman"but apart from that, his words sounded convincing. So far, Hamon had never broken his words, and he hadn’t failed her in any way. She had no other choice but to accept his help anyway.
So Ara nodded,"Okay, I’d so much appreciate it if you can get me the gowns before the grand ball." Ara said, then saw him smirk before he remarked,
"But...I’d only give you the gowns on one condition."
"What’s the condition?"
"You’d accept anything I send to you...and you won’t even think about returning them to me. If you agree to it, then I’ll get you the gowns" he stated in a nonchalant tone.
Ara somehow felt he was up to something, but the condition he gave was not that bad, she didn’t care if the gowns were meant for balls or not, as long as she had something suitable to wear to carry their plans and Anne wouldn’t be let down.
Ara nodded, "I agree, but if the gowns doesn’t fit for the grand ball, I won’t wear it."
Hamon chuckled, "Alright, I’ll send someone to your mansion tomorrow to deliver the gowns as soon as possible."
"Thank you."
Ara didn’t know what he was going to send her, but she was still relieved to know that they had something to wear to the grand ball.
Hamon watched as Ara took the chocolate served to them with a relaxed expression on her face, he noticed as she peeped out her pink tongue to lick the chocolate on her lips, but there was still some sticking to the side of her mouth, Hamon felt the urge to lick it off her mouth. She looked so cute and different with how she was having the chocolate.
How could someone look this damn cute without even trying?
Heck, she needed to stop licking her lips that way.
Without even realizing it, Hamon raised his hand to wipe out the chocolate sticking to the corner of her mouth.
Ara quickly glanced up at him, but what she saw made her flush visibly. Hamon took the same finger to his own mouth to lick the chocolate he cleaned from her mouth,
"Hmm. It’s taste delicious." He uttered with his eyes closed.
"You__ " Ara was about to talk, but one of Hamon’s men came in and interrupted her words.
"Your Highness."
Hamon’s brows furrowed slightly in annoyance, "Didn’t I tell you not to show up until I call?"
The guard quickly bowed deeply, "My apologies your highness, something came up." He said with urgency.
The guard moved closer to Hamon then uttered in a low voice, "Merek killed one of the Tudor’s men, but another unknown man came into the scene...He was a very skilled fighter."
After hearing the guard’s words, a furious and frightening expression flashed across Hamon’s face, in an instant the atmosphere around the table darkened.
Even Ara who was seated across him, could not help but recoil. If this was what she felt at a distance, then the man reporting directly to Hamon must be experiencing the full force of his deadly aura, she felt a cold sweat threatening to drip off her tensed face. Even though she didn’t know what the guard had reported.
Hamon remembered Ara was still present at the table, then quickly erased his anger and the bloodcurdling atmosphere, because he could suddenly change form if angered, then asked the guard with a blank expression,
"What about the skilled man?"
The guard seemed to hesitated before he replied, "He got away...we lost some of our soldiers who pursued him."
Hamon’s expression turned tensed, but responded calmly, "Find out who sent him."
The guard bowed, "Yes your highness." Then left the restaurant.
After the guard left, the atmosphere turned silent as Hamon looked like he was in deep thought. Ara glanced up at him then asked,
"Did something happen?"
At her question, Hamon’s expression turned soft, "Nothing for you to worry about...it’s nothing, you can continue to have your meal." He assured as he added more chocolate to her plate.
Ara narrowed her eyes at him, "I’m not a kid, so tell me what happened...I know something happened."
"I think someone is after you, and if something should happen to you...I’ll go crazy."
Despite his playful tone, there was an unexpected graveness to his words.
Ara flushed in embarrassment, but then quickly smiled at his ridiculous worrying, "Aren’t you forgetting something?" She asked.
"..."
Ara sighed then remarked, "I’m an expert with sword, I can deal with anybody who’s after me."
Ara picked up the butter knife on the table, she turned it in the air a few times then flung it to her left, it flew through the air.
The knife struck dead at the center of a dart board. Ara didn’t even take time to properly aim or throw.
Hamon smirked at her sudden display of skills. He was the one to teach her in their previous life, he wasn’t aware that she still had that skills with her, if the skills were still there. Then the memories should be there somewhere too,
"Wow! Impressive...I almost forgot my future wife is a sword warrior."
