Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 40: Looking for ways
Chapter 40: Looking for ways
"Tudor household seal?" Claire’s face suddenly emerged to her mind. She knew it has something to do with that spoiled brat somehow!
"Are you sure it was from the Tudor household?" Ara asked again to confirm.
Maya quickly nodded, "Yes, my lady...But I don’t think it was that important letter, maybe she had already applied for a job at the Tudor’s before coming to the Boxton mansion...who knows maybe they sent her a confirmation letter to come and start there too."
"Is that so?" Claire was too naive to have sent a letter with a seal on it, Ara thought.
Then heard Maya said again, "Yes, my lady." Ara replied with a slight nod of her head, "Alright, I’ll figure out if it’s anyhow related with the lost dresses."
"Ok, my lady."
Ara looked away from the maid Maya. For now she needed to think of another way to find new dresses. She glanced at the people gathered around the carriage, then raised her voice to announce,
"It’s late already, everybody go back and rest for the night!"
For the elites, luxury and display of wealth were highly valued. At this kind of situation, the noble daughters would normally scream and cry, and release their anger on the poor servants, but Ara had remained calm. The coachman and the butler couldn’t hide their surprised expression,
"My lady..." Exclaimed the coachman, he had been expecting the lady to ask him to pay, but she had even told them to go and rest?
Ara glanced at the coachman, "You all should get some sleep." She said with a smile, then turned to walk back inside, they all bowed deeply, showing more respect than before.
As she strode to the mansion entrance, the butler followed suit, she didn’t turn to glance behind her, and made to her room straight. If Claire thought doing this would stop her from attending the royal grand ball, then she was wrong! She would make sure to slap it to Claire’s face, and attend the ball in an elegant manner!
Ara needed the dress because she wanted to attend only to make her plans possible with the crown Prince, and nothing else, but now that Claire ruined everything. She was even more angry when she remembered Anne’s excitement the whole time, because of the dresses, ’ I better not come face to face with you before the ball Claire, else, I’ll make sure to ruin your precious face!’

While far away in the northern part, inside the Tudor mansion. Claire sat in front of her mirror admiring her beauty beaming, as her maid fixed her hair for the night. But suddenly, she sneezed loudly and hit her forehead so hard on the table in front of her,
The maid looked suddenly terrified, even though she wasn’t the one to push Claire to hit her head. "Am...sorry My lady." The maid apologized with her head bowed deeply, she was slightly trembling, because Claire would definitely scold or even hit her.
"You fool! Couldn’t you hold back my head before I hit it on the table?! Claire snapped in anger.
"Am...sorry-"
"Get out you dirty rag!"
The poor maid hurried out of the room, thanking her stars as she didn’t get hit by the lady this time.
"Ouch! Who could be talking about me right now!" She cried out as she touched her forehead, but the painful expression on her face, suddenly turned happy again, "Maybe someone was talking about how beautiful I am, Yes. That must be it, Nobody can talk bad against such beauty afterall." Claire mumbled to herself as she continued to fix her hair by herself since she had sent the annoying maid away, not knowing she had angered someone in the south who was planning to ruin her pretty face.

After Ara stepped into her room, she took her dagger from her luggage and placed it under her pillow. She had a habit of sleeping with her sword beside her in the past in case of surprise attacks, which was why Ara placed the dagger under her pillow, since it would be weird for a woman to sleep with a sword.
Ara paced around her room thinking of what to do now that they didn’t have a dress to wear to the royal grand ball. Maybe she should asked for Merek’s help? Ara strode to the window, it would be the first time she would summon Merek ever since they got to the south, there was no guarantee he was out there, but Ara had a feeling he was around in the dark. She whistled three times, but he didn’t show up.
"What should I do now?" She mumbled to herself, there were alot of things she wanted to do in the south. However, things were turning out bad already. Ara glanced up at the sky, it was a full moon night with lots of stars,
"Why does bad luck follow me around? How I wish I could just find a solution for this." Ara murmured in a sad like voice, though knowing fully well that wishes were a mere fantasy, the red stone on the necklace around her neck shimmered a little, but Ara was unaware of it.
The next day. After the soldiers had already informed her that, "My lady, we’ve searched everywhere around, but the maid was nowhere in sight." Ara knew the maid would not be found.
After Ara had finished speaking with the soldiers, the moment she went to her room. She saw Merek waiting for her, he bowed, "You called last night, but I couldn’t come in because the soldiers were all over the place.....What did you called me for?" He asked with this usual stony expression.
Merek’s appearance was no longer surprising to her. Ara strode to her desk and calmly sat down, "Did you know about the incident last night?" She asked.
Merek’s reply was curt as usual, "Yes." Ara couldn’t help but ask, "Does the crown Prince know about it too?"
"Yes, his highness knows about everything that happens around you." He remarked with no emotions on his face, his voice was flat.
Ara’s brows knitted together, "So he knows my every move?...It seems everything I do is reported to his highness, Are you the one to report it to him?" Ara asked with curiosity, but Merek avoided her question by saying,
"It’s not for me to answer that, my lady."
Ara was quiet for a moment, she had anticipated that her every movements were being reported to Hamon, but she hadn’t realized it would include any incident that happened in her personal life, such as the incident from last night.
Of course, her life as a daughter of a general was so simple, there was nothing scandalizing for him to know. Why does he even care about her that much to know her every movement? Ara recalled his words from the other night,
’I told you before, if you don’t remember then...our meeting before doesn’t exist.’
