Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 322: Naming banquet

Chapter 322: Naming banquet

The sun rose and set, and time flew by. Several months passed, and the day of the awaiting baby naming ceremony of the queen finally arrived.

The sky was gloomy as winter choked the lands with it’s full glory, snow fluttered down from the sky with such grace and elegance and softly landed on the earth, over time, the snow clumped together creating a white blanket covering the entire lands of Findara, it covered the trees and grounds, as well as the roofs of the houses.

Even the entire palace grounds were covered in snow, several carriages could be seen driving in lines inside the palace gates as the servants cleared the snow out of the driveways. A lot of elites had anticipated this day after receiving the invitation to attend the banquet few weeks ago. It had come as a surprise to most people, as the ceremony usually took place after the child’s birth, but the King had decided to hold it before the child’s birth.

However, nobody spoke a word against the change of tradition, and instead looked forward to the day of the banquet.

As the guests were arriving at the palace, inside the queen’s dressing room. Ara was seen with Emma, who was helping her into the double layers of clothing due to the weather. Her stomach had grown fully round and big, and she could now feel her babies movements inside her. However, since she wasn’t carrying ordinary babies, it wasn’t easy for her.

So far, she had only thought about pregnancy in an abstract way. But now that she was experiencing it herself, she realized how enormously difficult it was to bear children. Sometimes, she went through pains whenever they moved inside her, especially when they kicked, it always jabbed her, and sometimes she would end up losing her balance, but thankfully Hamon was always there to support her.

A lot of times, he wouldn’t go to the throne room and would spend the days with her In case she’d go through any pain again. She was once again grateful that Hamon was her husband. He never failed to satisfy her needs and wants, and would always be by her side whenever she needed him. He went through countless sleepless nights lately just to look after her at night.

Ara couldn’t help but smile as she thought about her caring husband. Everything was going just right in this lifetime, she would have all her family members with her. Her father, siblings, and husband as well as her children. And again, Henry had insisted to hold his wedding with Eadlin after Ara gave birth. At least she would witness her elder brother’s marriage in this lifetime.

Ara’s thoughts were soon cut off when Emma, who was helping her dress exclaimed, "Oh heavens! You look gorgeous in the dress."

Ara looked at her reflection in the mirror, she wore a maroon dress. The fabric was a unique material, it was thick and fluffy, and also had fluffy fur, it would protect her from the harsh winter cold. It was a one piece gown with not much designing due to her pregnancy, but it was still an eye catching dress. The detailing on it was so unique that one could tell it was specially designed for Ara alone.

Her skin glowed under the golden light of the dressing room as she looked at her reflection.

Emma adjusted the fur on her collar as she spoke, "It suits you so well, my lady."

Ara smiled, "All thanks to you, Emma. The dress turned out comfortable, and I like how it doesn’t feels itchy and uncomfortable. Thanks again." She was delighted that Emma had specially made the dress for her as a gift.

Emma beamed, "It’s nothing much, Lady Ara, I’m honored to be the one to design your dress. I also made one for lady Anne, but it was unfortunate she wouldn’t be attending the banquet to try them on due to her new business."

"She can still wear them when she visits. Anne is too busy with her new restaurant to make it to Findara on time to attend my baby naming banquet."

Ara and her sister often exchanged letters, she hadn’t seen her sister in months now, she couldn’t help but feel disappointed after receiving the letter that Anne wouldn’t make it to the banquet. However, Ara was happy for her sister for achieving something as great as running her own business at such a young age. Anne finally owned her own restaurant in Zari, and Ara was more than proud after hearing the news.

Ara smiled warmly as she imagined her sister running her restaurant. ’Silly sister of mine.’ she shook her head in disbelief then looked up at the mirror to examine her dress one more time, but_

"Hamon!" She exclaimed as she caught sight of his reflection in the mirror. He stood at the entrance of the dressing room, leaning lazily against the doorframe. He looked overwhelmingly handsome in his black suit and a black over coat, with his hands casually tucked inside his pockets. His black outfit highlighted his unblemished milky white skin. His deep red eyes bored into her green ones through the mirror as a warm smile graced his pink lips.

"Since when did you get here?" Ara asked as she turned around to face him.

"Just now." He replied as he walked further inside the dressing room.

Emma gave Hamon a curt bow of her head, and he returned it with a smile, before she quickly excused herself from the dressing room to give the couple some space.

Ara turned back to the mirror, she studied herself again. She sighed deeply seeing how chubbier she had become. She then asked Hamon, "How do I look? I mean...ever since I have gained weight, I haven’t made any public appearance, and I’m a little nervous and... self-conscious." She mumbled the last part. In all her life of being a soldier, she had maintained her physical fitness, and her new body shape was so foreign to her in the mirror.

What if people talked behind her back for her looks? Today was finally the day of their babies naming banquet, a lot of people were invited. She couldn’t help but feel nervous and anxious with the thought of meeting the guests.

Hamon smiled as he could sense his wife’s anxiety from where he stood. He then approached her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, he spoke softly in her ear, "You worry too much, my love. You’re beautiful, and don’t bother about your weight gain, every person knows it a normal thing for women to gain weight when they are pregnant, it will return to normal after you give birth."

Hamon’s eyes softened, and he leaned down to place a kiss on her neck, he brushed his lips against her tender skin, his breath felt warm against her skin as he spoke again, "in this world, I have never seen any woman as beautiful as you are, my wife."

Ara’s cheeks turned bright red at his astonishing words. She couldn’t tell him no even if what he said wasn’t true, his words made her feel more at ease and happy. However, Hamon seemed to notice her doubt, "Are you doubting my words? I mean it, my wife. Without a doubt, you are the most beautiful maiden in Findara." He said seriously.

Ara chuckled and nodded, knowing that there was nothing she could do to change his mind, "I know, I’m not doubting your words."

Hamon placed his hands on her round stomach from behind as he asked, "How are you feeling today? I hope you aren’t feeling anymore pain, you can tell me if there’s anything and I’ll postpone the banquet."

Ara shook her head, "I’m fine, we can’t postpone the banquet when all the guests are already waiting for our arrival in the hall. And I’m sure they are all waiting to hear the names we picked for our babies, we shouldn’t keep them waiting any longer."

"All right, you should let me know when you feel any slight discomfort, it’s not good if you push yourself too much in your condition, we can come back to rest after announcing the names." Hamon uttered seriously, but Ara smiled,

"No need to worry, I’m absolutely fine. I’ll let you know when I feel any discomfort."

"Promise me." Hamon said.

"I promise." Only after that did Hamon looked relieved, he straightened his posture and moved to stand beside her, he then held out his arm to his wife, "Shall we?" Hamon smiled warmly, he disliked any sort of celebrations, because of the social gathering, however he was willing to be there for his wife’s sake, as this celebration could possibly be the last he would ever have with his family, he couldn’t afford to miss it, he would stand by her side for all the days he had left before he would perish with the stone of Helga in a month.

Hamon had decided to perish with the stone in place of his wife, because he was a part of it, only he could do that. As long as he lived in this world, he wouldn’t allow his wife to die before him and would do anything to keep her alive, even if it meant giving his own existence away. Hamon stared at Ara unblinkingly and didn’t even realize she’d wrapped her hands around his arm until she spoke,

"Is...there something on my face? Why are you staring at me?" She asked slightly bemused.

Hamon shook his head, "No, there’s nothing on your face." He raised his hand and gently tucked back few strands of hair from her face, then said softly, "Ara...I just want you to know that, no matter what happens in the future, always remember that I love you, and I will always be by your side even when I’m not physically there. Remember this, always."

Lines formed between Ara’s fine brows, "What do you mean? Is something..."

Before Ara could complete her words, Hamon cut her off with a small laugh, "Nothing. I have a present for you, but I won’t be giving it to you now, until the day you give birth."

She gave him a questioning look as any present he gave her was always beyond what she expected, "Another debt to pay? What did you prepare this time that I would have to wait until I give birth before I get it?"

"Well, it’s a surprise, you’ll know when the right time comes." He said as he gently patted her head.

"All right, I_ Ahaa!" Ara suddenly flinched and grabbed the side of her stomach as she felt one of the babies jab his foot under her ribs, again. It was as if he was planning to break her rib with his jabbing.

Hamon quickly held her shoulders as he asked worriedly, "What’s wrong? Is it the pain again?"

Ara managed to nod her head, she bit down on her bottom lips as she pushed back the baby’s foot away from her ribs just like the female physician had taught her to do few days ago. "Yes, one of the babies really seems to like jabbing my ribs unexpectedly..." She muttered as she exhaled deeply after finally removing his foot.

Hamon’s face contoured in displeasure, "Those little rascals! They need some spanking for bothering my wife this much. After their birth, I will personally punish..." Hamon stopped mid sentence as if realizing something. A faint bitter smile crossed his lips, ’Yes, I won’t be there to father them after their birth...’ he thought to himself, and immediately a bitter feeling clutched his heart. However, he didn’t want his wife to notice his unusual pause and continued,

"Little demons, I will surely whip them for always doing this to you once they are born."

Ara protectively wrapped her arms around her stomach as she shot a glare towards Hamon, "No way will I allow that. Once they are born into this world, they will be my precious little demons. Right now, they don’t know what they are doing, they don’t mean to hurt me."

"Oh really? Being protective, huh my wife?" Hamon chuckled.

The couple finally made their way out of the dressing room as they laughed and chatted on their way to the banquet hall. From behind they looked like a comfortable pair, and one could tell how much they cared for each other with the way they were holding on to each other’s hands as they walked down the corridors.
