Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 316: Releasing anger

Chapter 316: Releasing anger

"Hyaa!" A dark brown horse galloped speedily through the open pathways of the road, it’s hooves hitting the earth with clicking sounds raising dust in its wake.

’Then it is settled Lord Derian, I will marry you...’

’... I would be more than glad to move back to Eringdalle with you.’

Henry’s face was extremely dark, it looked like a brewing storm ready to be unleashed upon the earth. His dark hair was flying behind as the wind blew against him with the speed the horse was running.

In order to stop her from going to the Bimmari mountains where she would live a secluded life, he had agreed to have her married to the man who’d come to ask for her hand. That had been his goal from the start, to get her married to someone who knew her worth, who was more than willing to protect her from anything.

And even Henry himself couldn’t deny that the man would indeed be capable of giving her the kind of life she deserved.

Shouldn’t it be said that his goal was achieved? Why then was he feeling this way?

Before he opened his mouth to say those words that would confirm giving her away, he had felt a painful ache in his chest, why was he suddenly feeling these strange emotions he’d never once had before?

"Hyaa!" Henry whipped the reins and kicked the horse to have it run even faster. The cold wind blew against him, but that didn’t reduce the burning anger he was suddenly feeling all for no reason.

The horse galloped into the wide gates of an open arena. Pulling the horse over to the side, Henry alighted, tying the reins along the horse poles set aside. He strode towards the arena.

"Hey look! It’s lord Henry of the Boxtons!" A curly haired young man who was standing with three other young men close to the arena called.

All the young men looked ruffled as if they had been preparing for a fight or having one amongst each other. The arena was a site open for playful competition where a lot of young Lord’s frequented just to exercise or have a little friendly fighting match.

Henry also frequented the arena sometimes, but those who knew him were aware that he only showed up anytime he was in a terrible mood, and by terrible, it would be an incredibly displeased mood.

"Lord Henry, to what do we owe this honor of your presence?" Philip, the curly haired young man spoke up again, undisguised yet playful sarcasm in his tone.

The other young men turned around to glimpse at Henry whose expression was darker than a storm y cloud.

"Oh, Henry is here, this fight won’t be boring today then." Gerald, another young man remarked cracking his fists in anticipation, Henry was always a challenging opponent to fight with.

"Hey what do you mean by that Gerald, aren’t we fun to fight with?" Philip queried with a playful smile as he swung the wooden stick in his hands around practicing a swift Parry in the air.

"Tsk, which one of you haven’t I defeated yet? Henry however..." He smirked as if anticipating fighting with Henry, "I’m going to enjoy this a lot."

Henry didn’t acknowledge their presence with a glance or even a word, but they were all used to his rigid indifference. Though they weren’t the best of friends, they had become acquaintances, and were somewhat familiar with each other, though they fought, none of them really held any hostility towards each other.

Henry went forward to take off his coat and shirt, hanging it on the wooden holders below the ring in the arena, shirtless and leaving just his pants he went on to pick a wooden weapon from the racks, jumping into the ring he called out, "Anyone who wants to fight can come up." His voice was rigidly cold.

Gerald without hesitation picked up a wooden weapon ad well and jumped into the ring. His eyes scanned Henry’s incredibly fit physique and he clicked his tongue, "Tsk, lord Henry, the only other thing I’m envious about you is that body of yours apart from your fighting skills, if I can’t defeat you in having such a figure capable of driving the maidens insane, I might as well defeat you in combat."

The other young Lord’s below the ring all laughed at his remarks, "Oh come in Gerald, don’t admire his body so much, otherwise you might just turn bent in the other direction." Someone said among the men, making them all burst into fits of laughter.

"Ah, don’t worry young men, the beauty and allure of maidens always catches my eyes, there so no way I can turn bent in the other direction. I will always be as straight as a man can be."

"Are you going to fight or will you keep talking?" Henry asked coldly, his expression not even once breaking from the jokes the men were making.

"Don’t be too impatient to receive defeat lord Henry, because you won’t defeat me this time."

No longer willing to listen to Gerald’s yapping Henry raised the wooden stick to attack.

The rules of the arena were such that no one was allowed to use a real weapon, since it was a place created for fun and not for real combat, they could only compete harmlessly and not with any real brutality.

Though Gerald had been caught off guard by Henry’s sudden attack, he wasn’t surprised and was quick to defend himself, they all knew how impatient the man was in a fight, it was strictly filled with a powerful force until he brought his opponents down.

The arena was filled with clicking noises as wood clashed against another, while the other young Lords watched with keen interest at the fight happening before their eyes.

Henry attacked like a relentless beast almost not giving Gerald a breathing moment before he attacked again. Gerald who had been at first confidently defending himself suddenly began finding himself being pushed back.

He parried, then quickly made a swinging dodge to the side where he was a little distance from Henry to get a breathing space.

"I must say Henry, you are indeed full of surprises, every time I think I’m on par with you, you just shock me by proving me wrong, but I should have known better, you won’t stop training yourself either." In just a few minutes, Gerald had been made to realize he wasn’t on par with Henry at all.

"Cut the crap and fight!" Henry charged at him, making Gerald’s eyes widen in shock before he quickly defended himself as Henry closed the distance between them, sending another crushing attack.

The woods designed for the fight in the arena were sturdy enough, they wouldn’t break regardless of the force used to wield them.

This time, Gerald’s confidence had dwindled by a lot, and he wasn’t even trying to attack anymore, with every move he tried to defend himself from Henry’s incessant attacks, but he wasn’t able to do that for long,

"Ahh!" He grunted as the stick hit him around his waist, his skin around the area was quick to turn red.

He once more made a quick dodge, but Henry didn’t leave him any chance. Though the stick wouldn’t cut him like a sword, he would still sustain injuries if he let himself get beaten up, so Gerald tried to desperately defend himself.

But before he knew it, all his routes of defence had been figured out by Henry, his every move had become predicable,

"Argh!"

"Arghh!!"

"Arghh!!!"

Before long, his pain filled sounds could be heard along with the sounds of wood smacking against his skin.

"Ooooh! That must really hurt" Philip remarked looking up at the ring with a grimace, he was feeling very sorry for the loud mouth Gerald who still decided to fight Henry knowing the man’s prowess, not to mention his mood today looked worst than any other day.

"Arghh! I admit defeat, I admit defeat!" Gerald yelled raising his hands before the stick would land on his skin again.

Henry who was slightly out of breath straightened himself throwing the stick aside, he looked down at the frightened Gerald for some time before turning around wordlessly.

Gerald who had been beaten up badly looked at Henry’s broad back while he remarked softly, "Geez, such a bad temper, what’s got you so riled up, a woman perhaps?" Though his words were soft, Henry and everyone present had heard it.

Henry who was walking away suddenly stopped in his tracks hearing those words.

’... I’m willing to marry you.’

Those words once again replayed in his mind.

Why had she been so unwilling to marry him? But now that someone else came to ask for her hand, she immediately agreed?

Though he knew why, the thought still painfully bit at his heart.

Henry turned around his dark, chilly gaze landing on Gerald who was quick to seal his mouth, the other young men who were snickering at Gerald’s words also seized their laughter.

Gerald felt his heart fall, dreading Henry would come beat him up for his words, but after some time, Henry turned around and walked away.

He picked up his coat and shirt from the racks, putting it back on, he strode out of the arena.

"No way, it is true, Henry Boxton seems to be having woman problems." One of the young Lord’s said looking at the entrance where Henry just left.

"Don’t make assumptions Donald, how could you be so certain he’s having lady problems?"

"Aren’t you a man yourself? For a man to lose his temper for no valid reason like that, it must be due to a woman." Donald seemed certain.

Gerald got up from the floor with Philip’s help, "Well, you Know what they say, a man’s stone cold heart, can only be melted by a beauty, I wonder who that lucky beauty is who’s caught Henry Boxton’s heart?" Philip said with a strain from helping Gerald up.
