Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 314: Hand in marriage

Chapter 314: Hand in marriage

The bright rays of the warm morning sun flittered in through the blowing curtains on the window, casting it’s lights on her beautiful sleeping face.

Eadlin who’d had a hard time sleeping last night scrunched up her face, as she slowly opened her stiff eyes, her sleep which she had just gotten not less than a few hours ago completely vanishing due to the harsh sunlight.

Opening her eyes, she stared blankly at the ceiling, before she sat up with a sigh.

She hadn’t been able to sleep all night because her mind still continued to drift back to her confrontation with Henry the night before.

Though she had answered back to him, the anger in his eyes and the way he had spoken to her hurt her deeply, she couldn’t help but cry into the night thereby losing a significant amount of sleep. Who was he to her for him to speak to her with such tone? Eadlin thought as she reluctantly pushed herself up the mattress.

She was just about to place her feet on the floor and get out of her bed when a knock came on her door,

"My lady, are you awake?" She heard Maya’s voice that sounded with a tinge of excitement.

"Yes, come in."

Maya pushed the door open, but to Eadlin’s slight astonishment, she didn’t come in alone, but along with a train of maids following behind her. The appearance of the maids gave Eadlin a familiar feeling, especially when all of them were holding trays and other things that they began to set aside upon entering the room.

Eadlin frowned, "What’s going on?" She questioned as her eyes looked around the set of maids carrying trays, containing oils and rose petals.

"My lady, we’re here to prepare you to meet a guest that came to see you this morning." Maya explained while gesturing for the maids to set the trays aside.

"A guest?" She asked bewildered, the only guests that used to come see her were the suitors Henry had arranged for her, but now that she was already done with that, she no longer had to meet any suitors, so who could this said guests be?

"Do you know who the guest is Maya?" She asked to confirm.

"No my lady, but he has been in the parlour room having a word with lord Henry."

At Maya’s words, Eadlin suspected even more that it was a suitor, but she had made a deal with Henry, she wasn’t supposed to meet any more suitors, he should be taking her to the Bimmari mountains instead.

Eadlin felt angered, was Henry planning to go against their deal? Last night she had clearly told him to take her to the Bimmari mountains, what was he doing now trying to match her up with another suitor again?

Ignoring Maya and the other maids who tried to call after her, Eadlin rushed out of her room heading for the parlour room.

She had to talk to Henry about this, he couldn’t just go against the deal they had talked about. He must be out of his mind to even think about going against their deal!

Eadlin dashed into the parlour room furiously not caring about the fact that there was a guest inside at the moment. However her words of fury were stuck in her throat before she could voice them out as her eyes landed on a familiar person sitting right across from Henry.

What was he doing in the Boxton mansion?

She stopped in her tracks, looking bewildered.

The man first looked up at her, before he smiled subtly.

"Lady Eadlin!" The small voice called out to get her attention as he came running to her.

Eadlin looked down at the little boy, "Crispin?"

She suddenly felt relieved, she hadn’t thought about the fact that she had now made a new friend that would want to visit her, so it turned out that the said guest was Crispin and his father, she had misunderstood and been mad at Henry thinking he was trying to match her up again.

Eadlin crouched to the boy’s level, she pinched his adorable cheeks playfully, "Did you come to visit me so soon?" She asked teasingly.

"I didn’t come to visit you lady Eadlin." He replied seriously.

Eadlin assumed the kid was shy to admit he had come to visit her despite them meeting just last night so she giggled slightly and asked, "Is that so, why then are you here so early?"

Crispin looked back at his father for sometime before looking back at Eadlin but he didn’t speak,

"So I assume you do know who they are." Henry suddenly said from behind her with a chilly voice, she could sense the displeasure in his voice even without having to see his face.

Eadlin turned towards him to notice the incredibly dark look in his eyes, he looked utterly displeased, and angry for some unknown reason.

"Yes, I do." She replied honestly.

He looked even more displeased at the confirmation that she was indeed acquainted with them.

However he nodded calmly, before saying, "I guess the discussion should be between you two in that case." Though he said that, and looked externally calm, internally he was suppressing a lot of emotions, and he clenched his fists to hold back his emotions.

"Discussion?" She asked curiously.

Crispin looked at Eadlin’s confused face and quickly spoke, "Lady Eadlin, you can forget about everything I said about my father last night, he’s not really a bad guy or a mean old devil like I said, he’s actually a very nice man, really, really nice." The kid emphasized.

Derian looked blankly at his son who was trying his best to sell him, he didn’t know why he had such a hard time that the little brat had such an impression of him, it was just implausible.

Eadlin smiled at the kid and nodded, not thinking too much about the kid suddenly changing his words, from not having anything good to say about his father even calling him his greatest sorrows, to now suddenly showering endless praises about him.

The boy’s expression suddenly changed to a sad one, "You see lady Eadlin, my mother died while I was a baby, I never got to know her, growing up I’d see a lot of children with loving mothers, but... I’d always felt sad because I didn’t have someone like that in my life, it really hurts, I wish I could have someone I could call my mother, that would make me really happy."

Derian handsome face twitched slightly at his son’s words, he just couldn’t believe his eyes, nor his ears. First the little brat had gone out of normalcy and praised him, then he was now playing a melodrama claiming he wants a mother?

How many times had the little brat schemed to chase away all the women he had been about to marry? This pitiful drama... The child was a star, an award winning theater star. Derian mused as he shook his head in disbelief.

Eadlin felt pained at Crispin’s words, it was pitiful for a child his age to not grow up with the love of a mother. She softly patted his head comfortingly because she didn’t have the words to console him.

He smiled at her bitterly while repeating the words he wanted her to hear, "It would really, really make me happy to have a mother again."

Derian couldn’t bear to keep hearing his son’s fake drama, so he got up and approached Eadlin, "My lady, it was I who came here to visit you today, not Crispin." He declared pushing the little boy aside.

Crispin glared up at his father as he was overshadowed by his towering figure.

"You?" Eadlin asked wondering why Derian would want to pay her a visit.

"Yes, I am here... To formally ask for your hand in marriage lady Eadlin, I’d like to make you my wife, if you are willing."

Hearing his words Eadlin was dumbstruck. Her eyes widened in disbelief.

"What?"
