Chapter 31: Shopping (part 2)

Anne turned to Ara for what she wanted, Ara then said, "I’ll have anything you choose." Anne nodded, "Tea would do."

"Okay milady. I’ll be right back." The man went out for a moment and then came back shortly carrying different types of jewelry sets that glowed beautifully, he also brought along different colored gems for custom jewelleries if they would like a custom made set, he spread everything on the table as he began to explain the gems he brought to them.

After he was done explaining he said, "So please let me know which one you want an-" the man paused as a soft tap came from the door, a lady walked in with a tray in hand and politely placed the tea on the table and left after a brief pause, Ara had noticed the eye exchange between the store owner and the lady who brought the tea to their table before she left but she didn’t think much of it and continued to listen to the man as he resumed his explaining.

The man was a fine talker, even Ara who had never done a lot of shopping felt he was easy to understand. The price were detailed below each item so it was not necessary to ask the cost for each one. Ara quietly listened to his explanation before she pointed at a gem on the table and spoke up, "This purple gem, How long will it take to make the earring set you described earlier?"

"It will take about a week, my lady."

"Okay, we’re going to attend the grand ball at the southern part soon, will you be able to deliver it there when it’s done?" Ara asked.

"Of course, but it costs extra for the transportation, and may take a little longer before it Will get there." Remarked the man.

"No problem, I’ll keep the address to deliver the package." Actually Ara was planning to gift Anne the set of earrings, Ara had calculated all the money she had saved, she wanted to buy Anne something before she officially become married to Hamon.

After they were done with the jewelry shopping, they went to the shoes section. Ara purchased a pair of emerald shoes which Anne had chosen for her, because it matched her eye color. They also purchased some set of jewelry which didn’t need to be customized. The store owner immediately packaged everything they bought. He handed her the package, but before Ara could turn to leave he called,

"Excuse me, milady." The store owner walked to Ara.

Ara frowned, because she was done with everything, why was he calling her? She turned around to face the man, who’s eyes were on her neck, "Your necklace looks very unusual." He said.

"Oh, this?" Ara realized the man was talking about the necklace on her neck, which had a red half stone on it. She had noticed the man staring at her neck the whole time and it seemed like her suspicions was right.

"If you don’t mind, may I take a look at it?" He asked politely, Ara didn’t see anything wrong in taking a look at the necklace, so she took it off and handed it to him. The man took the necklace from her, and brought it towards eye length, he looked closely at it and remarked, "I’ve never seen anything like this before... How much are you willing to sell it to me?"

Ara quickly uttered, "it’s not for sale." She snatched the necklace from the man.

"Oh...Okay, I was only curious about the stone on it." He said with a disappointed smile on his face. Ara already knew the stone on the necklace wasn’t common, taking no account to the man’s interest, she picked up her packaged stuff and turned to walk to Anne, who had been waiting beside the entrance door.

"Anne, let’s go...Are you hungry?" Ara asked as she stood beside her sister, who quickly nodded, "Yes, am already starving."

"Okay, How about we stop at our favorite restaurant before we head home?"

"That’s a good idea!" Anne exclaimed excitedly.

Both the sisters strode out of the store chatting, unaware of the store owner looking at their disappearing figure. The store owner, stared at them until they were out of sight, he stood frozen as if he was lost in thought. ’How could it be?’ With his brows knitted together, "I’m sure it couldn’t be a mistake...where did she get it from?" He mumbled to himself.

The lady who served the tea earlier walked to him, "Ulric, What’s wrong?" She asked the store owner. Ulric turned to her and said, "Ellyn, did you see the necklace on her neck? The lady with red hair?"

Ellyn nodded, "Yes I saw it...It looked similar to the one he asked us to find, but I doubt it is the one."

Ulric paused to think before he said, "I think we should let him know. It could be the one we’re looking for...I’ll send the message to him immediately, the purpose of this store in the first place was to find the half stone, we can’t let this small information go without telling him."

Ellyn agreed, "Yes, You’re right."

Ulric quickly walked pass Ellyn, as he made his way to another corridor, not the one he took the sisters to, he walked deep into a dark hallway, the hallway looked old unlike the fancy store with jewelry. He walked up a flight of stairs and came to a room at the top, he pushed open the door, as soon as he got inside the room, he got a pen and paper and wrote something in it he rolled it up before opening a small cage in the room where a white Bird was sitting he tied up the piece of paper to the messenger dove’s leg, then opened the window, "Deliver it to master...fly as fast as you can. Go!" Ulric released the Bird through the window as he mumbled, "Master will be happy with this news." He smirked.
