Chapter 30: Shopping ( part 1)
Ara looked at Merek’s disappearing figure, pleased with the work of the mysterious young man. Her enemies might be cunning, but as long as she had people like Merek and the crown Prince by her side, she would win this time. It was a good idea that she had chosen the crown Prince as her husband.
After she watched Merek leave the library, Ara turned back to the book and continue to flip through the pages, before she began to read it. Few seconds later, the door to the library suddenly swung open. Ara looked up to see if it was Merek again, but instead saw her sister standing at the door with a worried expression,
"What’s wrong Anne?" Ara asked with a frown.
"Sister, did you see a man come from this library?" Anne walked in and described with her hands, "A man with black hair and half side bangs?"
Ara looked at Anne, she quickly understood what man Anne was talking about. It was Merek, did she by any chance see Merek? And here she thought he was smart enough to not get caught.
"What man? I didn’t see anybody, I’ve been here in the library for awhile, and nobody came in while I was here... Did you see someone?" Ara pretend to not know what Anne was talking about.
While Anne on the other hand looked confused, but immediately smiled at Ara’s question, "No. I didn’t see anybody." Anne didn’t want to worry her sister. Who knows, maybe the man was part of those workers Henry had called to cleared the garden, maybe he had wandered around the mansion and lost his way, because she was well aware nobody could invade the Boxton mansion without being caught by the soldiers. Anne strode into the library, "Just forget I said anything about a man... it’s time to go shopping for shoes and jewelry." Anne exclaimed excitedly.

When they got to Larton market. Anne was the first to notice the new store Emma had told her about, "That’s the new store!" Anne exclaimed excitedly, because they weren’t much people there, Ara smiled at Anne’s excitement,
"let’s go in then."
Both the sisters made their way to the entrance, before they stepped in. Ara turned to the dozen of guards, Henry had assigned to escort them to the store, Ara hadn’t refused this time, because knowing Claire’s men might be following them, and even if he didn’t admit it, she was certain Henry would be worried about them,
"Ahem, you guys can wait outside."
"Yes, milady." At Ara’s words, the guards stood upright in front of the entrance without much of a word.
Anne hurried to push the entrance door open, the door opened with a clear light sound of a bell. Anne inhaled as they stepped inside, she always found the scent of new goods pleasing, everything inside the store looked brand new.
Ara followed Anne to the jewelry section. The jewelry section was a little dark. However, the jewels in the cabinet were brightly lit, causing them to glow inside the glass cabinets. Ara looked around silently for a moment.
"What kind of jewel is that?" Ara turned at Anne’s question and saw a necklace with a set of earrings and bracelet displayed in a cabinet, the pendant was studded with black jewel about the size of a pebble, which drew attention from afar. It looked like a black stone, but depending on the angle of the light it gave an unusual glimmer.
"That’s a necklace made of the finest diamond in Dumbarton." Exclaimed a man dressed in fine clothing, he had a bright smile on his face as he made his way to them.
Dumbarton kingdom was well known for their diamonds, the kingdom was the richest and the most respected kingdom in all the lands, not every noble could afford anything from Dumbarton due to how expecting their items were, it was rumored that one could buy a land and build a house in Greenwood kingdom with the money it took to buy a single dress in Dumbarton.
"So this is a black diamond?" Ara asked her eyes lighting up with curiousity as she had never seen a diamond such as the one on the pendant.
"Yes, it’s a rare one, black diamonds are considered more valuable than white diamonds. These ones are the highest quality ones in Dumbarton, there are no more of those, You won’t find it any where else now, not even in Dumbarton." Explained the man, he looked like he was the owner of the store, as it was a new store, they were no attendants yet to attend to customers.
"Wow!" Anne exclaimed as she admired the jewelry set in the cabinet. Ara looked at the set of jewelry with a new perspective. She had never seen this type of jewelry before, she heard Anne ask the man, "Is this the price tag?!"
"Yes milady."
Ara’s breath caught short at the price. The price was equivalent of a year’s living expenses in the Boxton mansion. She suddenly realized the rumors about the price of items from Dumbarton was not an exaggeration at all. She knew that any jewelry that came from Dumbarton kingdom, was expensive, but this was beyond her imagination. Anne’s eyes widened at the price, as Ara hurried to drag her away from the set of jewelry before Anne could touch it, "Let’s look around for something else, Anne." Anne quickly agreed with Ara, "You’re right sister, let’s look around." Both the sisters turned to give the owner of the store an awkward smile.
But the man was quick to understand what they meant, as he gave them a polite smile, "I have some set you’d like, if you come with me." He led them to another section, as they walked down a long corridor, which led to a small luxurious room for customers, the room which contained a table and a soft looking sofa.
It was common for elite to relax and have something to drink while they shopped. When they got inside, the man asked, "What would you like to have for the mean time? Would you prefer tea or fruit juice?"
