Chapter 306: let me go!

Eadlin inhaled and exhaled to control her anger, she then turned to face the young man with a smile, "A coincidence indeed. So what brings you here today, lord David?"

David chuckled in amusement, "What do you think? Of course I’m here to meet my soon to be bride, and I assume you to be her seeing that you are the one to show up. Right?" He raised a brow.

Actually, Even though Henry had spoken to David’s father about the marriage proposal, the young man had immediately refused to get married, claiming that he wasn’t ready to settle down with any woman, however he couldn’t help but get curious about the woman his father wanted to match with him from the Boxton household, since he’d seen how beautiful the Boxton daughters were, thus he had come unannounced to see for himself. But he hadn’t expected the princess to be the woman he was going to be matched with. He had a long grudge to settle with her anyway, so this was an opportunity to get back at her. He mused.

Eadlin scoffed, "Well, yes, but I’m sorry to disappoint you, I’m no longer interested in being matched with you. If you may please excuse me, I have things to do." She said and turned to leave, but what David said next made her stop again.

"You are in no position to reject me, princess. Don’t think I don’t know about your mother’s crimes, I could easily destroy you by reporting your whereabouts to the officials. And I’m sure you don’t want that." The corner of his lips pulled up in a smirk as he saw Eadlin stopped and turned around.

"What do you want from me?" She questioned calmly while trying to mask her anxiety. This young man was a blonde haired devil, he would surely report her to the officials if she didn’t follow him gently. If he reported her whereabouts, it might get Henry into trouble for hiding her under the Boxton’s roof instead of bringing her to court. And also she might have to face her half brother, but she wasn’t ready to face him yet.

David flashed her a smile, "Come sit so we can talk." He motioned for her to come and sit beside him on the sofa. Eadlin didn’t protest, but felt a wary premonition however she made to sit at the far end of the sofa, making sure to leave a lot of space between them.

"What do you want to talk about?" She asked David who was taking his precious time in sipping the tea instead of speaking.

"What’s the hurry, your highness." He questioned amusingly, but she shot him a glare without replying, he then chuckled, "Well then, since you’re desperate to hear what I want to say...I agree to make you my wife, I will marry you." He declared smugly.

Eadlin was taken aback, "Excuse me?" David was the last person she would ever agree to marry. And why would he suddenly agree to marry her when she knew he was a play boy just like her late brother?

"So, who can I speak to in the family to arrange our wedding?" He asked Eadlin who still looked astonished by his declaration. Actually, he wasn’t interested in marriage, but then after seeing she was the one, he wanted to get back at her by marrying her and making her life miserable afterwards. And maybe later, he would divorce her.

Eadlin quickly rolled her sleeve up to show him her disabled arm to perhaps make him change his mind. "Look, my arm is disabled, and it can’t be fixed. Are you still willing to marry me?"

David was taken aback for a second, but then smiled, "That’s even much better, I don’t mind you being disabled." He said nicely, however internally he felt disgusted. Pah! He would never marry such a woman, he would get back at her in another way instead. She had dared to kick him in the nuts that day, he would teach her the lesson of her life.

"But I don’t want to be your wife, I am no longer interested in getting married." Eadlin remarked firmly as she stood up from her seat. But the corner of David’s mouth quirked up, "You should be lucky someone like me is willing to marry you. I’m doing you a favor by agreeing to take you as my wife despite your arm."

"I don’t want such favors from you. I_"

"Fine." He cut her off, "If you don’t want to marry me, then how about we make a deal and I will no longer insist on marrying you nor will I report you to the officials." He glanced up at her from where he sat with a crooked smile on his face.

Lines formed between Eadlin’s eyebrows, "What kind of deal?" She asked not liking where all this was heading to.

David used his fingers to motion for her to come closer. Eadlin narrowed her eyes in suspicion, she was certain he was up to no good, however, she tilted her head forward to hear what he had to say, "Spend one passionate night with me, and I will let you off the hook."

Eadlin’s brown eyes widened slightly in astonishment. But then she felt rage and irritation swelled within her, she didn’t even realize when she raised her left hand and smacked his face with the back of her hand. David’s head forcely jerked to the side from the impact. His eyes flashed.

"HOW DARE YOU HIT ME?!" David rebuked as he wiped off a small trace of blood from his lips.

"How dare you speak to me like that?" Eadlin also stood her front, she pointed her index finger at him in warning, "The next time you utter such filthy words to me, I will do more than just hit your stupid face!"

Eadlin turned to walk away from him, but David grabbed her hand as he stood up from his seat. He raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face, Eadlin lost her balance and fell sideways, David approached her on the floor, "I will teach you a lesson." He grabbed her hair and lifted her head up to slap her again, when a firm grip suddenly held his wrist in mid air.

David gazed sideways to meet a pair of dark blue eyes,"HOW DARE YOU TO HIT HER." Came Henry’s angry yet calm tone, along with his words followed a crisp snapping sound of bone. David immediately released Eadlin’s hair and growled in pain as he tried to squeeze his hand out of Henry’s firm grip.

"Ahaa! Let me go!"

Henry had arrived some minutes ago, and learned that Eadlin was with David in the parlour room, he didn’t want to interrupt them because he wanted them to get along, so he tried to stay away. However, he found himself pacing impatiently unable to sit still and in the end came to hover around the corridors of the room, but unexpectedly was met with the chaos in the room, he had come running only to see this son of a cow hit Eadlin!

Henry didn’t release David’s hand, and instead dragged him out of the room. He dragged him to the soldiers quarters, then ordered his men, "Beat some senses into this bastard!" He threw him to the ground, while David looked around the soldiers in horror.

"You can’t treat me like this, lord Henry. I am the son of a minister, and that bitch had dared to hit me first. I didn’t_"

"What did I just hear you call her?" Henry narrowed his eyes at David, who was still clutching to his broken wrist while he looked around his men in terror.

"...I...it was a slip of tongue, I meant to say princess Eadlin. She hit me first when all I did was agree to marry her." He accused, he knew he couldn’t mess with any of the Boxtons, because they were in higher rank than his household.
