Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 292: Promise me

Chapter 292: Promise me

After everything had settled, Ara and Hamon returned to the barracks, and Ara explained how she had survived the fire with the help of Merek. And also how she killed Cornell in the forest.

Hamon was initially confused by the story recounted to him by his wife, but after calming down and listening to Ara, understanding gradually made its way back to his mind.

"I’ll be sure to reward Merek for saving my wife when we return."

Ara nodded, "Yes, he deserves it. It was because of him I am here right now. He risked his life to bring me out of the fire..."

"I will see him later, but on the contrary, I have to reprimand you, my wife." He said seriously.

"...?" Ara looked puzzled at Hamon’s sudden change in tone. He continued strictly, "Why the heck did you go after Cornell? What if something went horribly wrong?"

"I had no choice, if I hadn’t gone after him, he would have brought Bredon into this. And you know the war wouldn’t have ended this soon if that had happened." She reasoned.

Hamon sighed deeply, he knew Ara had done that because there was nothing she could have done, and again she’d held a deep grudge for Cornell and wanted to end it. But it was a dangerous act, it was terrible to think that he could have lost Ara in an unforeseen accident. He never wanted to experience the despair he just felt earlier,

"I know that was the best decision you could have made, my wife, but don’t ever make the same decision again. From now on, promise me this, your safety comes first."

Ara nodded obediently, "I promise, I will put my safety first." She raised her hand up to seal the promise.

"I hope you keep your promise to me. You are my woman, and you can’t get hurt, nor can you die while I’m still alive." Hamon lifted his hand and stroked Ara’s cheeks, "if you die, then I will die with you. You can’t leave me alone in this lonely world, my love." He said softly.

Ara’s heart skipped a beat at his words, she understood his meaning. If she was no more, he would go with her, too. But can she really avoid dying in a year? What if that happened and Hamon decided to die with her, who would take care of their children?

When Ara did not reply and only stared blankly at his face, he lifted his eyebrows doubtfully at her, "My wife, do you plan to leave me behind in this world?"

Ara shook her head slowly, "No, I will stay with you for as long as I live for..." She mumbled.

Hamon pulled her back into his tight embrace, "Why does it sound like you are not sure? If you ever try to put yourself in danger again...I will be forced to tie you to myself everyday."

Ara chuckled, then pushed from the tight hug to look up at his face. She raised her hand and caressed his cheek, "Is my husband being serious?"

Hamon’s eyebrows pulled together, "Do I look like I’m joking?"

She shook her head, "Not at all. I will not mind being tied to you anyway." She said playfully.

"Then should I get a rope?" He said then pulled her to sit on his lap, "Hamon...!" Ara was momentarily startled, but then wrapped her arms around his neck and made herself comfortable on his lap,

"Hmm?" He hummed in reply, "Did I startle you, my love?" He whispered to her ear, "Should I still get the rope?" He asked seriously.

Ara quickly shook her head,"No, I was joking!"

"..."Hamon stared at her, then flicked her nose with a smile, "Silly girl of mine. I hope the babies are not giving you a hard time again." He glanced down at her stomach, and she unwound her arms from his neck and laid it on her stomach,

"No, they have been good, and brave as well. Despite all the torture I went through, they’re still alive. They must have taken after their father’s healing blood." She smiled tenderly.

It was true, if her unborn children were normal, they wouldn’t have survived all those hardships and brutal beatings she went through for the past few days in the dungeon.

"Are you in pain? It won’t be easy carrying two demons...And I don’t know much about children, but I will learn more about this to help you through this." Hamon placed a careful hand on her stomach, and she could feel the longing in his touch.

Ara looked at her husband with tender eyes, then said, "You know, at first I was worried that you might hate children. But seeing how you welcome our children makes me feel at ease now." At least when I’m gone, you’d be a great father to them in my absence. She added in her mind.

Hamon despised the blood flowing through his body, and if it weren’t for Ara, he hadn’t intended to leave behind another generation of monsters. However, his wife meant a lot to him, and as long as she was the one to birth his little demons, he was willing to accept them.

Hamon smiled as he ran his hand on her stomach, "I can’t deny the children born between you and I, my love. I will love them as much as I can and be a good father." His hand left her stomach, then slipped upwards to her graceful neck where he drew her closer to him, a genuine smile broadened across his mouth,

"I love you. I don’t know if I’ve said this before, but thank you for always being by my side despite knowing who I am." He pecked her lips, then said,"I promise to help you through the journey of your pregnancy, my wife. It’s time I learn what it’s like to be pregnant!" He clapped his hands together.

Ara was a bit taken aback, "What do you mean?"
