The soiree ended in a grand success. Although it was the first time Ara and Evangeline had a proper conversation, if felt as they’d known each other for long. When Evangeline was about to leave, Ara saw her off to her carriage so no one would notice she’d been crying with how red her eyes were.

Afterwards, Ara said farewell to the other guests one after the other. Before she knew it, the hall was empty and only the servants were left clearing out the place. Ara stood at the entrance and watched the carriages leave. However, she suddenly felt that same pain again in her chest, she quickly clutched her chest tightly.

The pain rushed to her chest like a tidal wave. It was intense, her eyes moistened immediately as she bit down on her lips to hold back her cry. What was this pain? Why does it come and go when the wounds were already closed up? She couldn’t understand what the reason was. She slowly crouched down while still clutching to her chest.

Nevertheless, when she thought she’d pass out from the agonizing pain, the pain suddenly disappeared as if her chest hadn’t been hurting a moment ago. Ara frowned as she stood on her feet again. ’What’s wrong with me?’

This couldn’t be normal, could it? This was the third time it had happened to her. And she’d been trying her best to hide it from Hamon, because she knew how he worried about her. But then what could be the cause? Could it be because of the magic that had brought her back to life? Did it not cure her completely? Or perhaps it was her medicines side effect?

The pain always felt the same as the time she got struck by those arrows. Whatever this was, she had to find out after they’d clear the case with the queen, she would keep it from Hamon as much as possible so he would focus on his mission to take the throne instead of worrying about her for now. If there was one thing she disliked so much, it was making him worry about her.

Ara raised her hand and wiped away the sweat that had form on her forehead. She was about to walk away when she suddenly felt an arm hug her from behind, it startled her out of her wits. And on reflex she elbowed the person’s stomach with all her might.

"Ow! That hurt, you know." He said, but he didn’t let go of her and only wrapped his arms around her midriff.

"Hamon! What the hell. You startled the soul out of me!" She exclaimed when she realized it was him.

Hamon’s lips tugged up, "Hmm, did I?" He mused, then rested his chin on her shoulder. He closed his tired eyes and inhaled her scent, which always seemed to calm his mind. He had been outside the whole day trying to stop those insolent soldiers from entering his residence, and afterwards he’d gone to the dungeon to give his stupid brother his daily whipping. Hamon had eaten the dinner she’d sent him, but he couldn’t sleep even though he was exhausted, knowing his wife was still outside did not sit well with him.

Hamon murmured with his eyes still closed, "What are you doing standing here instead of coming back inside?"

Ara pursed her lips, "I was about to come back inside when you suddenly startled_how did you suddenly get here when I didn’t notice you enter?"

Hamon’s reply was a simple, "I teleported here."

Oh yes, he teleported. She’d almost forgotten her husband could go and come the way he liked. Ara nodded at his reply, she then gently smacked his arms, "Now release me before someone sees us in such a position." There were still servants inside the hall, she would not want someone to walk out and see the crown Prince hugging her intimately in the open, even though they were a married couple, she still couldn’t help her shyness.

Unfortunately...Her husband did not seem to get the hint, rather than releasing her. Hamon only tightened his hold around her midriff, with the way her back pressed to his front, she could fell the heat radiating from his body.

"Let them see me hugging my wife outside. Big deal." He muttered softly, his warm breath falling on her exposed neck, since his chin was still on her shoulder. Ara’s face heated up, she knew whatever she’d say, if he wouldn’t let go, he wouldn’t. Thus she simply relaxed and let him hug her.

The warm spring breeze blew to their direction, and it made his silver hair fall over her shoulder and the back of her neck. She could fell the dampness in his hair as if he’d just taken his bath before coming here. She then asked, "Why are you here instead of sleeping?"

Hamon scoffed, "How should I sleep while you’re still outside?" He released his hold around her, so Ara got to turn around to face him, but her green eyes rounded when she noticed his tired face. Before she knew it, her hands were already cupping his face, "You look exhausted, you should have just gone to sleep."

Hamon placed his hand on hers on his face then murmured, "I am so tired, but I couldn’t fall asleep without my wife by my side. I came here to bring you back inside. Since you’re done here, let’s go." And after saying that, he bent over and carried her in his arms.

"So tell me about the soiree, did it go as planned?" He asked as he made towards their room. He could easily teleport, but he wanted to savour his moment with his wife before they returned to their chamber, where that annoying pillow would be in the middle of their bed, and he wouldn’t be able to reach to her because of it.

Ara put one arm around his neck while used the other hand to tuck back his damp sliver hair falling on his face, before she began to tell him of everything that happened in the soiree, including Evangeline’s cousin. And her offer to help. She also told him of how Merona had threatened to destroy the Golding household.

Hamon’s expression darkened after hearing everything, "That son of a cow has really gone too far than I expected. And his mother...they’d pay for all this, I will make sure I give justice to all the women he had violated and bring an end to all his fooling around."

Hamon made a mental note to increase Cassius’ punishment tomorrow.
