Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 226: Reward

Chapter 226: Reward

In the middle of the night, Ara woke up startled. She could sense a strange air surrounding the compound. She quickly sat up on the bed and glanced to her side, but found it empty. Hamon wasn’t back yet...

She’d unknowingly fell asleep waiting for him to return, but now, seeing as his side of the bed looked smooth, it only meant he hadn’t return. Suddenly, she heard faint noises outside, and glanced around warily as her instinct seemed to sense danger.

Ara hurriedly pushed herself out of bed and made to the window to look outside. Her eyebrows furrowed as she noticed countless torches in the distance moving in perfect unison. It was a scene that reminded her of when the Boxton mansion was under attack in her previous life.

Without wasting another second, Ara hastily wore her night robe and left the room to go and search for Hamon. She made straight to his study knowing full well he’d be there, or more likely at the front of command.

Ara’s guess was right, the moment she pushed the study’s door opened, she saw he was in a serious conversation with Oliver, he was too immersed in the conversation he didn’t even notice her enter, until she called,

"Hamon."

Hearing her voice, he immediately glanced to her direction then looked back at Oliver, "Get on with it immediately."

"Yes, Your Highness." Oliver bowed to Hamon then to Ara before leaving the study.

When they were left alone, Ara approached his desk with a frown, "Hamon, what is happening, what’s with the people around the compound?"

Despite the worry in Ara’s tone, Hamon still looked calm, "Did they wake you up? You shouldn’t worry about them and sleep some more, wife."

"How can I sleep when there are people with torches everywhere, and you being in your study the whole time?"

"I see those insolent fools woke you up." Hamon gave an easy grin, and Ara’s frown deepened, "Hamon, I have a feeling you’re hiding something from me these days. What have you been up to?"

Hamon sighed, "Since it has come to this, I’ll tell you. I didn’t tell you at first because you’re still recovering from your injuries, but now that everything is going as I’ve planned..." he stood up from his seat and picked a parchment from his desk, he then walked towards Ara, "Here, look at this."

With a puzzled look, Ara took the parchment from him. To her surprise, it was all detailed information about some drugs. Her eyes scanned over the content, then looked up at Hamon in confusion. Among the information, she saw the drug Cassius had used on her that night. How did Hamon get all this information?

"How did you..."

Instead of answering, Hamon walked around her and wrapped his arms round her from behind. She couldn’t see his face, but she felt his rock hard body pressed against her back. She couldn’t prevent the shudder that rushed through her. His arm banded her midriff and he leaned in, her toes curled as his lips brushed her ear, he then whispered, "Why didn’t you tell me Cassius tried to violate you that night he invited you to his party?"

Hamon’s voice was calm, but she could tell he was displeased. Ara’s hands holding the parchment slightly trembled, and when she didn’t reply, she felt his teeth on her earlobe, she jolted at his light bite. "Answer me, my wife."

She tried to speak, but the way he held her made her mind a bit cloudy. She hadn’t told him because she was trying to avoid any arm conflict between him and the queen, "I...I didn’t tell you because I was trying to avoid any fight between you and the queen." She admitted softly. "But how did you get all this informations about Cassius sinful deeds?"

The parchment contained all the information about the second Prince, and if such information was presented to the court, it could cause the queen’s down fall, which meant Hamon would be one step closer to the throne.

Hamon didn’t immediately answer and instead leaned down to rest his head on her shoulder from behind, "I’ve been working on gathering all the information ever since that day he invited you to his party. And after I found out he used some drugs on you, I decided to look into it more carefully myself. And today I went to his God damned party and saw his dirty acts...Cassius is now being held captive in my underground dungeon."

Hearing his words, Ara’s green eyes widened and she quietly turned around to face him, "W-what?" Her gaze moved from him to the window of the study room where the lights of the torches could be seen, "Are those men out there..."

Hamon gave a nod, "Yes, Edwin, the queen’s brother had been gathering his troops to enter my residence to get Cassius out of my custody. So my soldiers are preparing to face them."

"...!"

Ara couldn’t believe all this had happened, and she’d had no idea of it. "Hamon...aren’t you being too careless?" She asked worriedly.

Hamon didn’t reply and walked back to his desk, he picked up another parchment and handed it to her. Ara skimmed through it. This time, it was the detailed information of how Merona had sent men to disguise as Hamon’s men to sabotage his name in the kingdom, by killing the commoners.

Ara’s eyes widened at all the detailed information in the parchment, and Hamon smiled, "We’ve got her right in our trap."

"Hamon..." She stared at him in clear awe. Her shock that he’d done everything without her knowing was off the charts, and she couldn’t help but respect not only her husband’s brilliance, but his daring and cunning abilities as well. "How did you come up with all this? I mean...you’re incredible."

He grinned, "I must say, I did everything because of you, seeing what had happened to you at that brat’s party and that night we got ambushed, drove me to this point." He admitted as he sat on his desk.

"I know this couldn’t be the only thing you prepared for the queen, right?"

Hamon replied with a meaningful smile, "You got that right, my wife. It would be impossible to bring the hag down with just this. So I planned to make it more dramatic."

"How?"

"On the day of the 100th anniversary celebration of the De Bivilles, everything shall come to light."

Ara’s eyes rounded, on that day, a lot of elites and court officials would be present, that would be a perfect opportunity to expose Merona’s scheming and atrocities.

"Having Cassius in my dungeon is simply one piece of the plan. And soon the queen’s men would arrive to get him back. My soldiers will be on alarm until they attack, so please bear with this a little longer, my wife."

"..."

Ara knew if they had to wait until the day of the anniversary to expose Merona, it meant Hamon’s soldiers had to keep the queen’s men at bay. Therefore, as time passed, Merona would become more paranoid and aggressive, and at that rate, armed conflict between the queen’s soldiers and Hamon’s would be inevitable. Ara didn’t like the outcome, she’d like everything to happen without any bloodshed.

Ara thought about it for awhile and glanced towards Hamon, "Hamon, I want to help_"

"No, you won’t." Hamon cut her off immediately, brushing away the issue as if it wasn’t worth discussing.

"Why not? I am your wife."

"Oh yes, you are my wife which is why I won’t allow you carry a sword to go and fight with soldiers ever again. And don’t give me that look, no matter what you say, you won’t be taking part in this war." Hamon’s brows were furrowed seriously, but Ara pursed her lips, "I don’t mean to help in that way..." She wasn’t planning on helping by fighting physically. However, she felt a lump in her throat, she paused before speaking,

"...Are you still worried about me?"

"Don’t ask the obvious. I know you’ve been having an intense pain in your chest these days, even though your wounds are closed up. My decision is final, you won’t fight in this."

It was true that her chest still hurt once in a while, but she’d tried her best not to show any signs of pain to him so he wouldn’t worry about her. She smiled, "Hmm, my husband worries too much, look at me, am all good and healthy. And more importantly loved by you."

Hamon strode towards her again, he wrapped one arm around her waist and drew her closer while he touched her cheek with the other hand. He whispered, "You are loved, but not just that...I’m drowning in desire for you my wife." His thumb caressed her cheek lovingly.

Ara’s heart pounded as she stared at his fiery red eyes in front of her. She knew they had a lot to do now. But at the same time, Hamon’s touch made her body burn with needs she couldn’t understand. It was like her body was slowly acting up like that of woman desiring for...

Hamon continued, "I won’t let you get involved in this. I want you to sit back and watch your husband do all the work...but then, all I’d need from you is reward and praises."

"...?"

He beamed, "Ah, I want you to reward me for my hard work, wife." His finger traced her lips. She glanced at his red eyes, which looked darker than ever, and without him saying it, she guessed what sort of reward he wanted. Her mouth suddenly felt dry at how he gazed at her lips like a predator.

Without another word, Ara tiptoed and put her hand around his neck and pulled him towards her. She pressed her lips against his. Hamon didn’t respond to her kiss at first, but a moment later he responded back hungrily. He lifted her up with one hand and pulled her on his desk, while he stood between her thighs.

There was a crash as something fell off the desk and broke onto the floor, but neither of them cared. He kissed her desperately and she responded with the same intensity, until they both reluctantly pulled away to catch their breath. With their faces still close, Hamon spoke his voice sounding more huskier and sultry, "You lips taste better each time I kiss you." He pecked her lips again.

Blood rushed up to Ara’s face as he gazed at her lovingly as if she was the only thing he could see. She cleared her throat, "Hamon, when I said I wanted to help, I didn’t mean by carrying a sword...I mean I could help in other ways, like..." She began to explain to him.

Ara suggested that; she threw a tea party for the nobles wives tomorrow, and invite the wives of some of the officials. With their presence, the queen’s men wouldn’t attack, and if they went ahead and attacked, then rumors would begin to go around that Merona was trying to assault the crown Prince’s compound. There would be questions why, then when it would become known that Cassius was held a prisoner due to the charges of drugs and violating women...

Then that would surely bring the queen down. Hamon wanted to spread the truth while Merona wanted to hide it, leaving her unable to make a move.

Ara hadn’t planned to use her sword to help, but her status as the crown Princess. This way, they could avoid shedding blood in the palace.

Hamon’s eyes brightened at her plans, "I like this idea better. You’re really smart, my wife."

Ara blushed even more and smiled. They had been kissing each other hotly just a moment ago, and so their faces were still closer to each other. Hamon stared at her with his heated eyes, "It’s not just me who deserves a reward, but my adorable wife as well."

"You_" before she could speak, Hamon leaned in and pressed his lips against hers again. He popped her face with playful kisses and whispered sweetly against her lips, "One more time." He once again gave her a deep kiss under the pretext of rewards. And she gladly put her arms around his neck to draw him closer the desk he’d placed her on.

Breathing heavily they reluctantly pulled away again. Hamon smiled, "My wife is becoming good at kissing." He used his thumb to wipe her damp swollen lips, before pulling her into his warm embrace, "Let’s go catch some sleep before you put your plans to action tomorrow."

Ara just simply nodded in his embrace, then smiled faintly.
