Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 182: The theater

Chapter 182: The theater

Ara had chosen to go to the theater first. Now, the couple sat on the balcony seat, it was a VIP area with an extra legroom and it had wider seats to sit comfortably. Ara liked the view of the stage from up where they sat, being in the VIP section they had the absolute best visibility of the stage below and won’t miss a single bit of the performance.

The balcony area was a bit shadowy, however it didn’t stop her from seeing Hamon’s side profile clearly. She glanced at him with a tender smile, His full attention was down on the stage where the opening performance was about to start.

She slightly leaned sideways to whisper to him, "I’ve always wanted to watch this performance from my previous life, but I never got to watch it for some reasons...But am glad I have this chance to watch it with you in this lifetime."

Hamon turned to her with a smile, "Hmm, so technically this holds some meaning to you?" He asked, "Do you know what the performance is about?"

She nodded, "Yes, but I think you should watch it, I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you."

"I don’t mind, so tell me." He insisted.

Ara shrugged, "If you insist...It’s about a young lady who doesn’t believe in love, but ended up falling for her master. They went through a lot...though I haven’t watched it myself but heard about it. The story..." She continued to tell him about the performance, however Hamon was only half-listening as all he could concentrate on was her and not the story she was telling him about, her beautiful face in the dim lighting and how she was explaining the story enthusiastically, the moment felt surreal.

He couldn’t believe this day was real. In their past life, if she hadn’t come to his life he might have ended up killing himself. Even though the blood that flows through his veins wasn’t human, and he could heal from any injury, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t die just like any human if he didn’t transform to his cursed self.

Ara had been the main reason why he lived that long, he’d hated himself for being different right from childhood, he’d always questioned why he was different from the rest, his mother had always told him; she’d made him special and the blood that flows through his veins were special, but to him, it was a curse that would forever ruin his life.

He had a miserable life then, and it made him believe that he would live his entire life in misery. He’d believed that; anyone woman who married such an unlucky person like him would surely be doomed for life. But now, all he wanted was a life with Ara, to be with her, to stroll around the street freely holding hands like any normal couple. If it was up to him; he’d choose an ordinary life than a life of royalty...

"The performance will start now!" He heard her excited voice, which brought him out of his dazed state.

Hamon turned his eyes back on the stage with a peculiar look on his face, "Are you this eager to watch the performance?"

Ara nodded, "Yes, and after this, I will take you to my favourite pastry store. I’ve always liked the cakes baked in the shop in my past life, and I bet you’d like it too..."

A soft smile graced Hamon’s face as he listened to her speak about her favorite cakes, it wasn’t his usual smile. His dimples were visible and the corners of his eyes crinkled.

Soon the performance started, and his full attention went back to the stage. However, Ara’s eyes didn’t leave him, she continued to stare at his side profile. As different thoughts swirled in her mind.

She couldn’t help but think; Hamon must have gone through a lot in their past life to leave Findara. In the beginning, she’d thought him to be a selfish person, but when she thought of it now, he never had the love of his parents and grew up being called a scary monster. With all those rumors spreading about him from a young age, he must have suffered harshly. It was hard to imagine how much hardship he must have experienced in the palace without his mother by his side.

She wished she’d known him right from their childhood, she could have stood by him and protected him from the suffering and hardships of the world he went through as a child. But she couldn’t, it was all in the past.

However, that didn’t mean she could not do anything for him now. They could still start over again. She’d stand by him even when the world was crumbling down on him. She didn’t care what or who he was, he was her husband now!

With that thought in mind, Ara smiled. Although he’d loved her from their past life, she wasn’t aware of it then, but now she was. And she’d make new fond memories with him. Even though she would be late in expressing her feelings for him, she wanted to be honest with him tonight.

’I love you, Hamon...’

She couldn’t wait to say those words out later and give him the ring as her love token. A tender ache started to form in her chest as she watched him all focused on the stage.

"Hamon, I feel a bit tired...is it alright if I lean on your shoulder?"

He looked away from the stage, "Do you even have to ask for my permission to lean on your husband’s shoulder?" He deadpanned, "Come here." He moved closer to her and gently used his hand to draw her shoulder so she could lean on him.

Ara placed her head against his shoulder and entangled her arm around his, it was firm and broad, but it was the most comfortable place in the whole world for her.

She leaned on him and began to concentrate on the performance, she suddenly felt Hamon lips pressed on her head, she then heard his smooth deep voice that sounded a bit husky, "You are the best gift I could ever receive in the world." She didn’t express it in words, but she had the same feeling as well.

A smile graced her face as she continued to lean on his shoulder, she secretly slipped a hand into her pocket to touched the ring box.

As the couple were in the theater watching the performance and were occasionally even laughing at some funny scenes. However, at the same time in the queen’s residence, the news of their outing had been passed to Merona as well. She knew where they were at the moment as her spies were faster in reporting to her about their every move.

Hera came back to her chamber to inform, "Your majesty, the men are ready to leave. And marquis Favian’s men are also on the trail at the moment."

"Oh, I see..."

Hera continued, "I don’t think he will fail with all the dozens of men he hired."

"That’s good, even if he fails it doesn’t matter to me right now." A venomous smile crept on her face, "I will take it from where he stops, and when the case of their death is to be investigated...all the evidence will lead to Favian."

Hera nodded as if she understood the queen’s goal, "Yes, Your majesty...Then What shall we do now?"

With a distant look on Merona’s face, she said, "Hamon’s death will be the most desirable outcome for me...But if Favian fails, he will take full responsibility just like his daughter..."

"So...?"

Merona glanced back at Hera, "Send the men, but do not let Favian know about it. If it turns out that the couple are slipping from his grip...have the men assist in it. And remember to tell them what I told you earlier...They must kill his wife before him." She ordered with her eyes shinning in the dim lighted room, she then added, "And they must kill him before he has the chance to transform, or else..."

"Yes, Your majesty...didn’t you say the moon gives him the ability to teleport or transform to his cursed side? If that’s so, it’s a moonless night tonight."

Merona nodded thoughtfully, without the moon, he wouldn’t be able to teleport nor change. She’d known this fact ever since the bastard was young and wasn’t able to control himself then. Besides, Favian’s forces were already substantial enough, and the addition of her own men would further bloat their number. She did not want to miss the satisfaction of the bastard crying in agony and losing his wife before his eyes. His death would bring the rise of her son to the throne of Findara!

A sly smile spread across her lips, "The moonless night is in our favor. And I hope they have their good last moment together, because tonight will be the last."
