Chapter 167: Dressed to kill
"What do you mean?" She asked.
Hamon’s eyes trailed Ara’s body. Her dressing today was far more ornate than usual. He thought, "You’re dressed differently today...I mean not in a bad way, it looks beautiful." He complimented.
"Huh..." Ara suddenly realized what he was talking about. His observation wasn’t wrong. Today, Ara had dressed to kill, the maids had put so much effort in dolling her up in a gold black striped silk dress. The dress hugged her waist tightly emphasizing her slim waist, but it was loose to the down with its full circular skirt. Her red hair tumbled over her shoulders in slighy wavy curls.
Her slender swan-like neck was adorned with a rare shiny gold necklace she received from Hamon, it reflected the light in the room. Her plump lips was tinted with an alarming red color.
Ara, who doesn’t fancy expensive attire and jewelry, had purposely worn all the expensive stuff to impress her husband. Moreover, if Hamon showed up at the banquet now that there were already a lot of noble daughters coming after him, it was also obvious that people’s attention would fall on her as well, and she didn’t intend to be looked down upon in the presence of the other women.
But Ara didn’t intend to tell him that she’d dressed so lavishly just to impress him, "Isn’t it normal for a woman to dress herself up...You see, for women, an expensive and beautiful dress is like a great weapon for them in society. So I want to strike at the banquet with my weapon."
Hamon chuckled softly, "Well, I guess all the women at the banquet should get ready to see my wife’s army. They will all be nervous seeing you fully armed this way." He teased.
Hamon had no idea that his own dressing was already making his wife nervous to let him out. He wore a strikingly black tailcoat, which fitted his firm body perfectly, with his sliver hair that was tied up in a manbun behind his head. His red eyes burned with charm. He dressed to perfection, he was guaranteed to catch the attention of all the women at the banquet.
However, Ara wanted to stand alone in the place where all the women coveted; next to Hamon, his right hand position was entirely her own and she’d dressed this much to fit the position.
"All done." She smoothed over the ascot tie with one hand, but before she could even stop herself; she glanced up into his burning blazing red eyes. Their eyes locked before he smiled at her, with his breathtaking dimples showing, it emphasized his handsomeness even more. Suddenly her heart started to pound loudly again, but she managed to return his smile.
Every moment with Hamon was like a beautiful blessing and a gift to her. And she would treasure it until the very end. Ara had been cautiously accepting her new feelings for Hamon without stopping it from flowing freely.
Ara stared at him, he then said, "Let’s make a day for just us. I mean, we should go out of the palace to get some fresh air."
"Where?" She looked at him curiously, and he replied in a gentle voice, "Since after our wedding, you haven’t stepped out of the palace and you’ve been spacing out lately. So maybe it would help clear your mind outside the palace. I’ll take you anywhere you want to go ."
"I am not sure, yet. But when I have a place in mind I’ll let you know."
"Hmm." He hummed as he fixed his coat sleeve, "Very well, just let me know when you are ready." He then held out his arm for her to take. Now that they were done preparing, it was time to leave. She hooked her hand around his arm, and so they made their way out of the crown Prince’s residence to the golden royal carriage parked right outside.
The couple boarded the royal carriage, the journey seemed quite noisy at first, but Ara gradually became accustomed to the voices of the soldiers following behind their carriage.
As they sat inside the carriage, Ara stared at Hamon’s side profile. Suddenly memories began to flash to her mind. Memories of their past life; when she first met him, he came into her life like a saving grace back then, his sliver hair was short and his skin was not as pale as now, it had started to turn bronze from too much exposure in the sun, but it didn’t deduct a tiny bit from his handsomeness. She recalled all the times he protected her from the other male soldiers in Greenwood.
Memories of when she proposed to him in this lifetime also flashed to her mind...
She hoped they’d never get separated again, she wanted to spend this lifetime with him in her life. Ara was hit with the realization that she suddenly couldn’t imagine living without Hamon in her life, she didn’t know when it started, but he became special to her, he was now as important as her family that she wanted to protect, she feared maybe even more important than anyone else in her life.
As if Hamon felt her gaze, he turned his head away from the window and looked towards her. Ara couldn’t help but think; he looked like an image in a painting, the warm afternoon sun washed over his handsome face, his red eyes burned with a mysterious heat as he fixed his gaze on her.
He sighed, "Aiya, you look too gorgeous today, my wife. And if you keep staring at me like this, I might tell the coachman to turn back home so you can have all day to stare at me instead of attending the banquet."
Ara laughed softly at his words, if it was before, she’d have felt awkward, but now she liked his sweet words for only her. It always tickled her heart.
__
At the Tudor mansion, Claire was seen stepping inside her personal carriage, grinning from ear to ear. Today’s banquet was nothing less than a gift to her. She’d prepared her plans for the crown Prince.
Claire had dolled herself up in the finest and stunning black silk gown only found in Dumbarton. In addition, she adorned herself in the most expensive jewelry that she ever owned. With her raven hair tied up in a neat ponytail. She was confident that she would be more beautiful than any woman at the banquet. Furthermore, she’d take her rightful place; next to the crown Prince.
Claire sat in the moving carriage with a mirror in hand admiring her beautiful features, she turned her head from side to side to check if her ponytail was perfectly packed, a smile graced her rosy lips,
"I am too beautiful to be real...sometimes I wonder if am God’s best creation with how beautiful I look. Nobody can beat my beauty in Findara." She sang to herself, her beauty had always been her greatest source of pride, and it was something she upheld ever since,"Hmm. My hair is coming loose." Claire muttered to herself as she noticed her ponytail coming loose, she’d firmly instructed the maid to tie it perfectly, but now it had come loose.
