Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 134: Nightmare

Chapter 134: Nightmare

Ara’s eyes widened, what was he going to do with a dagger and a sheet?!

She watched him curiously as he swiftly removed the current white bedsheet, as he drew it, all the rose petals scattered to the floor. He then used the dagger in his hand to cut his palm open, red blood was quick to appear. Ara, who had been watching until now jumped out of the couch in panic, "Hamon! What are you doing?! She asked.

However, Hamon’s expression remained calm. She was about to scold him for being careless, but as he turned his palm to let his blood drip on the white sheet. Realization dawned on her. Was he really doing that?!

There was a tradition; that a white sheet should be on the bed on the wedding night, and if there was a blood-stained, it shows the woman’s innocence. And if they burned the sheet the next day, the marriage would be blessed with harmony, the couple would give birth to a healthy child.

Ara stared at him speechless, but Hamon just smiled, "You don’t have to worry, I got your back, wife."

Ara wanted to scold him, there was no reason for him to do this. It was only a formality, and it wasn’t like a marriage would be annulled from the absence of a virgin blood. Moreover, if they were to follow the tradition, wasn’t it supposed to be her blood on the white sheet and not his?

Her complaint welled up to her throat, but she couldn’t bring herself to say them out. He was doing another thing for her sake, again.

Ara had mixed feelings about him, she’d repeatedly pledged not to be blinded by him until the safety of her family was guaranteed, but she felt Hamon was slowly drawing her in. Couldn’t he just pretend like she was invincible? If he didn’t care for her she wouldn’t have to feel this way all the time he did something for her again and again.

Without another word, Ara hurried to his side and took out her handkerchief, then wrapped it around his palm to stop the bleeding, "You are really...stupid at times, look what you did to yourself..." She scolded.

She made a despairing expression at his wounds without even realizing it. Hamon stared at her with a faint smile as she wrapped the wound, he could heal himself, but he could only do that after shifting. However, he quite liked her attending to him,

"If you look at me with that worried expression...I’ll hurt myself every time to get your attention." He teased.

Ara’s eyes widened, "You want me to always worry about you?"

"Not at all. I just want your attention."

"Then you don’t have to bother..." She stated calmly. Hamon raised a brow curiously, "Why?" He asked.

A smile drew on her lips, "Because I care about you so much, you are my biggest concern."

Hamon’s red eyes brightened up at her words, "Does that mean you care about me so much?" He asked calmly with a smile masking his joy inside. But her next words disappointed him.

Ara nodded, "Yes, you are my friend for two lifetimes. I can’t help but care about you, and because you’ve helped me so much I can’t stop but worry about my debt increasing. And you have to stay healthy to take the throne."

Hamon’s smile faded. Was she only worried about him because of that? "I look forward to the day you’d care about me because you love me..." He murmured under his breath.

"What?"

Ara stopped attending to his hand and glanced up at him as she didn’t hear what he’d said, but Hamon offered her a forced smile and drew his hand out of hers, "I said it’s getting late, you should go to sleep. I’m also tired"

Ara frowned at his sudden words. What was wrong with him? And how were they going to sleep. Before Ara could even ask, Hamon had strode towards the bed, he placed two pillows in the middle of the huge bed. He then lay himself down on the left side without a word. And turned his back to her as if he had nothing to talk about anymore.

Ara stood in place. What was wrong with him? And was he going to sleep in his suit? She debated with herself for moment weather to comment on it, but in the end she decided not to say anything. But she needed to take a bath, and didn’t know which door led to the bathroom as there were four doors in his room.

Ara sighed, "Which door leads to the bathroom? I want to wash myself." She asked. But Hamon only pointed to a door without looking at her. She glanced towards the direction he pointed at, before she shook her head in disbelief. She hurried inside the bathroom.

After a few minutes, the sound of water echoed from the bathroom. Hamon, who was pretending to be tired and asleep stood up, and made his way to the other door. He’d rather avoid her for the night as much as possible, before He ended up doing something he’d regret.

Soon Ara carefully stepped back into the bedroom. The lights were already turned down, only one candle was left on. Hamon, who wore a suit awhile ago, was now in his sleeping attire. He’d finally changed. She thought.

Ara noticed his sliver hair was slightly damp as if he had just taken a bath as well. He lay on his back, but she couldn’t see his face as he had used his hand to cover his forehead. Ara smiled, she couldn’t help but think he acted like a baby at times.

She inhaled before walking towards her side of the bed. Perhaps it was because Hamon fell asleep first, but it felt far less nerve-wracking than she’d imagined. She carefully climbed into the bed, making sure not to wake him up. She then drew her blanket to her chest, before turning to face his side.

This was her home from now on. And he was her husband...She smiled at the thought, and soon as she watched him, a yawn slipped her mouth. Before she knew it, she was already drifting off into sleep. But if she knew her nightmares would once again return to haunt her again, she wouldn’t have closed her eyes.

Her terrible nightmares were back, again. It was a moonless night. On a spacious rooftop of the castle of Findara. Ara kneeled on the ground as she bled profusely from her wounds. She clenched tightly to her sword on one hand and held to the necklace that always reminds her of Hamon on the other, she could feel her life slowly slipping away.

But she couldn’t die without taking Cornell with her! She had to drag him to hell. Ara tried to stand, but failed, she heard Cornell’s laughter echoed from behind, "I can’t believe I missed to kill you earlier. How did you even live this far?" He questioned as he sat on his heels in front of her.

Ara’s whole body was nearly tattered to pieces, and the floor was covered in a thick pool of her own blood. However she glared at him with hatred, "I swear...I Arabella Boxton, will kill you with my own hands..." She said through clenched teeth as blood poured out from the side of her mouth.

"Ha ha ha...How will you kill me when you are on the edge of dying yourself? Even if the heavens decide to grant you another chance in life, you’d never be able to kill me, little girl. For I have dealt with your father, besides, I will kill you now, so how will you be able to kill me?" He laughed out loud clearly enjoying the state she had fallen in,

"You unruly little girl, you should have quietly taken this chance and gone far away to live your life, yet you returned to take revenge, che! How ridiculous, but who would have thought, the powerful warrior behind the death of so many of my slayers turned out to be you, the daughter of that treacherous general Richard Boxton, who I thought I already killed,"

"But unfortunately for you, you’re as stubborn as your father, you decided to come after me? Let me tell you this... You will never be able to kill me no matter how many chances you get!"

Ara clenched her teeth in anger. "I...will kill you! I wish I could turn back the hands of time and get to do it all again, I will make it my greatest mission to see your end! I will have your head roll on the dirt and vultures feast on your dirty corpse, because you do not deserve a place on this earth, you monster!...I will kill you myself...yo_" before she could complete her words, Cornell had raised his sword up after a fit of laughter at her words, he clearly ridiculed the fact that she could still threaten him even when she was on the verge of death.

Ara clenched tightly to the bedsheet with her forehead covered in sweat, she didn’t want to go through the pain of his sword cutting her head off again, she tried to opened her eyes, and not see the end of this nightmare, of her death. A tear rolled down her cheek, as she struggled to wake up. She suddenly felt a hand stroking her hair, followed by a familiar voice,

"Shh, it’s just a nightmare, am here. Go to sleep." He whispered. She felt the person draw her in a warm embrace, and she felt that same familiar feeling, like she was safe and nothing would happen to her with this person by her side. She drew closer to his embrace.

Eventually, her breath turned steady again as she relaxed in the person’s arms. As he continued to stroke her hair gently, she heard his faint voice in her sleep, "it’s okay, you can sleep now. Goodnight." Her whole body felt like cotton in his embrace, and instead of opening her eyes to see who it was, she finally succumbed to slumber.

Hamon, drew the blanket to cover her body more, as he let her sleep in his arms.
