Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 103: Fate

Chapter 103: Fate

The day after Richard and king Frederick’s meeting, the crown Prince’s wedding with the Boxton eldest daughter was finally announced to the entire kingdom. The king was so eager to have the wedding take place as soon as possible, that even Richard had no words against Frederick’s decision. Everything was going smoothly without anything.

After the official announcement, Ara had been busy making preparations with Anne.

"I know you will eventually get married to brother-in-law someday, but I never really expected it to be this soon, sister. It almost feels like a dream." Remarked Anne, as she helped Ara write down the list of what they needed to buy for the wedding preparation.

Ara replied, "Hmm, It has to happen anyway. If I don’t get married now, I might reach the age of an old spinster and no one will want to be with me by then."

Anne stopped writing down her list and said, "You are right, but if you think of it. Even brother-in-law is late in marriage as well. I wonder why..."

Anne didn’t know about the rumors of the crown Prince being cursed, which was way he hadn’t gotten a wife until now. Ara wouldn’t want her sister to know about that though. So Ara thought her sister was suspicious of why he wasn’t married, and was about to explain it, but,

"It’s fate!." Anne exclaimed and quickly ran to where Ara was seated, "Fate brought you together, sister! You are destined to be with brother-in-law. That’s why the heavens haven’t given him a wife yet!" Anne clapped her hands together, intoxicated by her revelation of thoughts.

Ara thought about it. She and Hamon might not share a love relationship, but she knew they did have some kind of a connection. They both returned to the past with their memories of the future. How strange? Was that really fate?

Whatever it might be, Hamon was her best card and was a perfect match. If there really was a thread of fate connected to both of them, she was glad it was with Hamon.

They might not share a love relationship, but she was happy she choose him as her husband and not someone else.

Anne continued, "Did you decide the date when you met with king Frederick the other day?"

"Hmm, I think there will be another meeting with father before the marriage, as to discuss about the dowry..."

The marriage was just weeks away. But she hadn’t forgotten about the dowry they had to pay. Marriage among the elites, it was expected of the bride’s family to give the groom a certain amount of fortune. The groom’s family normally sought a woman who could add to the groom’s wealth, while the bride’s family sought a man who could match the amount they’d give.

The reality was that a large dowry was required for a woman to be able to marry a man of higher status, except in unusual cases which hadn’t happened in years.

However, Ara was getting married to the crown Prince, it was another problem whenever she thought of how much her family would have to give the royal family as dowry. And not to talk about the wedding venue expenses.

"Sister, we have a lot to prepare for in a very short time...And I think we should hire some more workers in the mansion for the mean time." Anne suggested.

"Hire more workers?"

"Yes, it would be better. You don’t have to worry, the butler and I will take care of the new workers!" Anne was a bit nervous as she proposed this fearing Ara might not agree.

"Alright, then tell the butler about it." She affirmed.

"Really?! I will interview all of them myself." Anne beamed in reply, feeling relieved that Ara had approved. As this would be a very nice opportunity to hire mister thief to work in the mansion! At least she’d be able to teach him how to live a life without stealing, but working for it! She hoped he would show up for the interview though.

"Anne, there is one more thing...we have to book a dress shop for the wedding dress."

Ara never intended to look shabby on her wedding day. Even though it was not a love marriage, weddings only happened once in a lifetime. And she wouldn’t want people to look down on her on that day in anyway.

"Ah, do you still remember the Taewe dress shop? I’ll book a reservation at the shop for the wedding dress, as you know a lot of shops will be competing to make your dress because you’re getting married to the crown Prince."

"Yes, that will be great then. Thank you, Anne."

And so the bustling wedding preparation continued in the Boxton mansion.

__

Few hours later, almost closer to sun set. As Ara was busy making calculations on her desk. She heard a sound coming from her window, when she turned her head towards the direction, she saw a face she wasn’t expecting to show up any time soon.

It was Merek, who entered the room with his usual blank expression. She never would have guessed he was injured with how he stood tall with no signs of pain. But his face looked slightly paler than normal.

"Good evening, My lady." He greeted with a slight bow.

She’d almost asked him about his health, but remembered that she was not supposed to know he was hurt, as she was disguised as a man when she saw him injured that night...But then what was he doing here when she hadn’t called for him?

"What brings you here? I haven’t called for you today."

"His Highness, sent me here. He said to let you know that the wedding venue has been picked by his majesty."

Couldn’t Hamon just send a letter instead of disturbing Merek who was in the process of recovering? She thought.

"Where is the venue?"

"The Vollorbe square hall." He informed.

Ara’s eyes widened, "The Vollorbe square hall? Isn’t that the biggest events hall in the kingdom?"

"Yes, it is the will of the king to hold the wedding there."

That meant the wedding would be a public wedding?! Even if the ceremony was held within the palace, there would still be a massive gathering of people from all the neighboring kingdoms to celebrate the occasion. However, an open wedding would attract an even more larger crowd.

_Is the king planning to empty my family’s wealth on this wedding?_
