Chapter 332: Chapter 341: Nitiandang Knows How to Please the Players!
Instructor Ding hastily opened the N key and discovered that this page was made exactly according to his suggestions, and even better!
At the top were tabs for various professions, which could be switched to view the skill and talent pages of each profession upon clicking.
The left half of the page displayed the skill page, where the skills of the three branches were clearly arranged, with the points required for each skill and the remaining number of skills that could be learned, all detailed at the bottom of the page.
The right half was the talent page, not much different from the original talent page, but one thing that was particularly commendable was the removal of the prerequisites for a small number of talents!
According to traditional MMORPG design, the talent system often adopts a "talent tree" design, which, as the name suggests, is like a tree with a main trunk leading to branches that must be followed in sequence.
The talent system in Shadow World isn’t strictly a talent tree, as many talents can be chosen from midway, but there are still connections between a small number of talents.
For instance, "Strengthened Water Shield," "Water Shield Specialization," and "Deep Mastery of Water Shield," these three talents had to be selected in order.
They are all enhancements for the "Water Shield" skill, but their effects slightly differ.
"Strengthened Water Shield" increased the damage absorption of Water Shield and the amount of magic restored;
"Water Shield Specialization" reduced the chances of the Water Shield being broken or dispelled after it was used by the player;
"Deep Mastery of Water Shield" was the most powerful, providing an additional special effect that allowed the Water Shield to restore a significant amount of magic when it burst, and it could also dispel a magical effect from the surrounding enemies.
Traditionally, if players wanted to select the "Deep Mastery of Water Shield" talent, they had to first max out the previous two talents. However, it was clear that the "Water Shield Specialization" talent itself was not very useful and had a low cost-performance ratio.
But now the officials at Nitiandang had nearly removed all talent restrictions, allowing players to directly pick "Deep Mastery" without needing to invest in "Strengthened Water Shield" and "Water Shield Specialization," which, undoubtedly, was a significant enhancement for the players.
Instructor Ding became instantly excited, "Check out, check out!
"Where are the bug exploiters? Come out! Who said Nitiandang was taken over by Shengjing Group? Apologize!
"Look at this new version, isn’t it done well?
"Not only has the gameplay for all professions been retained, but comprehensive optimizations have been made, and players can now select skills and talents throughout the whole process via the panel! The connections between the talents were also removed, allowing for the omission of many useless talents to build a stronger BD (build)!"
The audience who had placed their bets on the right side were all in utter despair, while those who had bet on the left side reveled in a bounty of free betting beans.
"Wait, there’s more!
"What is this ’Build Sharing’?
Curious, Instructor Ding clicked on this new page and felt as though he had opened the door to a new world.
On the left side of this page were also several tabs, including "My Build," "Leveling Build," "PVE Build," "PVP Build," and so on.
After clicking the "Build Sharing" button, Instructor Ding found that he could directly upload his current BD and could also edit the name and description of this set of BD.
For example, the scenarios in which this BD was more suitable, what its output methods were, and so on.
Similarly, players could also search for other players’ builds on this page, using link sharing, keyword searching, popularity sorting, and other methods.
Instructor Ding was pleasantly surprised to find that after the update, it seemed that a special Glyph system had been added!
In the Skill and Talent tabs, there was a separate page where you could adjust your Special Glyph settings. Judging from the slots, there were 13 different types of Special Glyphs in total—1 Orange, 3 Purple, and 9 Blue-Green, allowing players to mix and match freely.
Skills, Talents, Glyphs, Special Glyphs—these four systems were interrelated and sufficient to make an already powerful BD even more powerful, as well as to bring neglected BDs into the limelight.
On this page, you could preview all the Glyph effects in advance, and for those Glyphs not yet acquired, you could even see their approximate methods of acquisition.
The most common were random drops. Defeating monsters would sometimes yield Special Glyphs relevant to the player’s current Talents or Skills.
Next was obtaining them by doing tasks in specific locations or defeating designated monsters and such.
Instructor Ding skimmed through and saw that there were over thirty Orange Special Glyphs alone, with the number of Purple Glyphs being thrice that of Orange, and Blue and Green Glyphs were more than four times the number of Purple Glyphs!
Of course, the ones that could significantly impact a BD were mainly the Orange and Purple Glyphs, with most of the Blue-Green Glyphs enhancing specific aspects of a particular Skill or Talent.
But this data set was already massive.
Instructor Ding was almost cross-eyed.
"Holy cow, this is freaking awesome! ’Demonic Legion’? This Orange enchant allows a Magician to summon all demons at once and additionally summon five Demon Imps! Five Demon Imps, man!
"Doesn’t that mean I could march out with an army by myself? Five Imps casting fireballs together—sect of the five fireballs, who dares to stop me?
"Hey, this one seems pretty good too, ’Ice Bomb’, although it seems quite ordinary, just tagging the target with a long-lasting Ice Bomb. But any time a Frost spell hits it afterward, the bomb explodes and spreads, causing AoE damage to surrounding enemies and, if the cumulative damage reaches a certain level, it will even cause a group Freeze effect.
"My Frost Mage is back in action!
"This one looks mighty strong too, ’Infinite Execute’? After applying this Orange enchant, the Execute Skill will no longer be restricted by the target’s health percentage?
"Before, you could only use the Execute Skill when the enemy monster’s health was below 35%, now you can slash from start to finish? Pair that with a set of talents for quick Rage generation, and isn’t that just taking off?
"And what the hell is this, ’Dark Healing’?! Converting all your Agility and Attack Power Attributes to Healing Attributes. After a critical hit, it automatically heals a random low-health teammate nearby...
"So that means this is an Agility healer? DPS healer? Just stack Agility, Attack Power, and Critical, then in a raid keep hacking away at the monsters, and then it’ll automatically heal low-health teammates? Fully automatic!
"Then I’ve got something to brag about, ’What’s up with you DPS folks, not even hitting as high as a single healer!’
There were many more powerful Orange Special Glyphs, almost all capable of building a BD on their own.
The effects of the Purple Glyphs were also very powerful and complemented the Orange Glyphs well.
Just reading the descriptions of these Glyphs got Instructor Ding’s blood boiling, eager to acquire them and develop a powerful BD.
"Nitiandang has finally seen the light!
"I always said Nitiandang was different from Shengjing Group; Nitiandang knows how to make players feel awesome!"
