Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Why is it cut in half again?
Oh shit, the Molten Furnace Knight!
Steeran felt as if she had been heavily struck by a hammer, and those memories she didn’t want to recall uncontrollably surged in her mind.
That was the first time she was slashed in half, the very first time!
And she had lost in such a baffling way, because a seemingly stupid blue Slime had pinned down her shadow, rendering her unable to escape, and only then was she split in two by the Molten Furnace Knight.
If they fought normally, she definitely wouldn’t have lost so miserably!
That’s what Steeran believed.
Unfortunately, she never found the Teleportation Treasure Box that led directly to the vicinity of the Molten Furnace Knight again, let alone a rematch, and although there were still Teleportation Treasure Boxes to the Lower City, she simply couldn’t find the Molten Furnace Knight.
Come to think of it, she still didn’t know the knight was called the Molten Furnace Knight, only that she had died at the hands of a mysterious knight-like Monster.
In the first few days after her death, she was having nightmares where she got killed by the formidable duo - the Molten Furnace Knight and Indeedee - in all sorts of fancy ways, leaving her restless.
Now that she encountered the "long-pondered" old acquaintance in the Sain Dungeon, how could she not be surprised and shocked?
No way, how did this thing make it to the upper levels?
How are the less powerful adventurers supposed to explore further then!
Steeran felt her legs go a bit weak, but even so, she gave the Molten Furnace Knight a defiant glare.
"Heh..."
The Demon Clan felt an extreme sense of danger from the Molten Furnace Knight and immediately decided to change their course and kill him first.
The Molten Furnace Knight didn’t say a word, but the tilt of his head expressed his disdain for the monsters.
Go for it, mysterious Monster Knight!
Steeran found herself cheering for him in her heart.
If she had to choose a way to die, she would rather die at the Molten Furnace’s hands than be killed by the Demon Clan; at least the former looked incredibly cool.
"Roar!"
The Monster made its move!
Leading the charge was a Monster covered in steel feathers. Its entire body shimmered with a metallic luster, its upper body more bird-like in form yet bizarrely topped with a snake’s head.
With such a body of feathers, it definitely couldn’t fly, but its defense was surely top-tier among these monsters.
And those feathers could be shot out like darts, firing twenty or so at a time, their impact and sharpness not to be underestimated!
Wait a minute, could its feathers even damage the Molten Furnace Knight’s armor? That armor looked pretty thick; it probably wouldn’t...
"Clang clang clang clang—"
The clanging sounds of steel colliding erupted like firecrackers in a row, as the Monster instantly unleashed, shooting out forty or fifty feathers in a storm.
And the Molten Furnace Knight?
He simply raised his shield; the extremely high-quality Big Shield effortlessly protected him from the sudden downpour.
Oh right, he has a shield...
Steeran’s mouth twitched a bit, realizing that her concerns seemed entirely superfluous.
"Roar-roar?"
The Monster was shocked that its attack could be blocked and emitted a strange cry as if its throat was choked.
These Monsters, transformed from humans, seemed to have some defects in Intelligence.
The other two Monsters didn’t stand idle either. Seeing the bad situation, they too brought out their specialty moves. The four-headed Meat Mountain Demon Clan executed its Barbaric Charge, while the skinny Demon Race plunged its hands into the ground, and in an instant, dense twisted plants erupted, attacking the Molten Furnace Knight.
The adversary however, chose to put down his shield.
Eh, what’s he doing? Taking the attack head-on? Steeran remembered that many powerful beings liked to demonstrate the terrifying gap in strength between them and their enemies by withstanding their attacks.
No, she guessed wrong.
The Molten Furnace Knight suddenly crouched down, and an ancient light flared up. In the next moment, huge hard horns suddenly grew out from his shoulders!
The Molten Furnace Hundred Forms Horn!
"Gaaah?"
The Feather Demon Race suddenly had a bad premonition, but it was too late to flee; they were too close, and most importantly, there was no way to avoid!
They could only hope that the attacks from the other two members of the Demon Clan could stop it, but...
With the sound of slicing through the air, the Molten Furnace Knight charged at an unimaginable speed, so fast that no creature present had the time to react!
"Boom!"
The attacks of the two demons missed, immediately creating a huge crater on the ground, clearly demonstrating the power of a bomb-grade strike.
But attacks that miss are meaningless. It still comes down to the Molten Furnace Knight!
"Grawwwwww—"
The Molten Furnace Hundred Forms Horn allowed him to slam into the Feather Demon Race like a dump truck, both of them crashing through the dead-end wall and directly into the broken house behind.
The screams of the Feather Demon Race echoed through Sick Village, revealing a dying desolation.
"Rumble rumble rumble—"
The house collapsed, kicking up a cloud of dust that made people cough incessantly and obscured their vision.
The sound of heavy footsteps approached, and Steeran tried her best to open her eyes wide, finally making out who was walking out.
Without a doubt, it was the Molten Furnace Knight.
The law of "smoke without injury" completely failed at this moment. He carelessly threw the head of the Feather Demon Race onto the ground and stomped it into mush with a foot.
The remaining two demons retreated in terror, their instincts telling them to flee. But as soon as the thought arose, something deep within their minds immediately took control.
Thus, their eyes turned bloodthirsty and chaotic, heedless of the gap in strength between them as they charged!
Have demons always been this brave?
"Waaah!"
A sudden scream – it was Steeran.
The Molten Furnace Knight kicked the obstructive her aside, casually swung the Big Shield to deflect the Meat Mountain Demon Race with ease, and with his free hand, he ceaselessly swung his sword, cutting through the plants controlled by the Skinny Demon Race.
Following that, he fiercely threw his Great Sword, impaling the Skinny Demon Race with a chill to the bone, pinning him to the ground, unable to get up no matter how much he struggled.
The Meat Mountain Demon Race lunged again; the Molten Furnace Knight had no weapon and was turned away, a perfect opportunity to strike!
Without even glancing at him, the Molten Furnace Knight’s back sprouted a thick tail that whipped him away.
The Molten Furnace Hundred Forms Tail, kid!
Before the Meat Mountain Demon Race could get up, the Molten Furnace Knight slammed the shield down on him, the heavy Big Shield pounding without pause upon his body in the blink of an eye.
The Meat Mountain Demon Race turned into a pile of mush.
Next, the Molten Furnace Knight nonchalantly finished off the Skinny Demon Race. Just like that, all four demons were wiped out.
He looked towards Steeran but made no move.
Steeran instantly tensed up.
To be honest, judging by the way the Molten Furnace Knight had just annihilated the demons, his true strength was even greater than Steeran had imagined.
How on earth am I supposed to fight this...
While she was nervous, the Molten Furnace Knight, however, remained motionless for a long time, as if hesitating about something.
What’s happening?
She tentatively took a step forward; the Molten Furnace Knight’s gaze followed her but he made no move.
Why isn’t he attacking me?
A ridiculous thought rose in her heart – he couldn’t be letting me go, could he?
Steeran would not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and quickly made a run for it.
Just as her sense of propriety made her want to turn back and say thanks, the Molten Furnace Knight’s Great Sword loomed larger in her vision.
"Eh?"
Her world spun, and her upper body slammed hard onto the ground. Before she passed out, she saw her own lower body.
Not again... How could this happen again...
Steeran was speechless.
