Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 66 Sun Warrior Also Runs a Marathon

Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Sun Warrior Also Runs a Marathon

During her time impersonating the Sun, Steeran encountered all kinds of people.

Most were very polite, but there were always oddballs. Some felt that since she’d been summoned, she should devote herself to being a perfect nanny, adopting an air of superiority.

Others were conspiracy theorists to the core, believing Steeran’s unpaid assistance had to be ill-intentioned, and they criticized her harshly.

Some had a decent attitude, but their adventuring experience was a mess, often dying in the strangest places, beyond Steeran’s help.

Whenever she ran into the first two types of people, Steeran would go for a run to bring back a horde of Monsters, giving those nutjobs a lesson.

Since an Assistant’s attacks can’t harm the Summoner (Fire Master), and she had no means to sever the link, this was her only strategy—wait for the Fire Master to die, and she’d be sent back.

Right, whether an Assistant is sent back or dies, they don’t leave the Dungeon; they return to the place where the summoning symbol was drawn, a detail Steeran greatly appreciated.

But, if summoned too many times in one day, she’d inevitably suffer from a splitting headache, for reasons unknown...

I digress.

Having been an adventurer for so long, what haven’t I seen? Steeran used to say this with confidence.

However, now looking at the bizarre Demon Clan in front of her...

My apologies, but this, I truly have never seen!

"Is the Summoner not here?" Steeran quickly looked around, but didn’t spot any human traces. "Could it be that the Demon Clan summoned me?"

Why would the Demon Clan appear in the Dungeon? Could it be related to the recent uproar? I remember rumors saying the Demon Clan could disguise themselves as humans and infiltrate cities.

But the Bed Family called in Magicians and Priests to search around the city multiple times, never catching another disguised Demon Clan member.

The caught Demons all mysteriously died one day, leaving the matter unresolved, but the security forces in Bed City have been increased.

Watching the Demons, who were slow to react and still unclear about the situation, Steeran raised her hand and shot an arrow.

"Pfft!"

The arrow buried deep into the tentacled Demon’s belly, eliciting a pained scream.

I may not be old, but my arrows are still sharp!

"It seems they’re not the Summoners, that makes things easier,"

Steeran smiled confidently, slowly turned around, and then—

Took off running!

"Ao ao!"

Angry roars and the sound of pursuit came from behind; her actions had clearly enraged them.

This is tactics!

Facing four Demons at once was beyond her capabilities; the only way to win was to defeat them one by one.

For that, a Marathon was in order.

This shared a similar strategic wisdom to what happens when the Soul V invader meets a group of three squatters during a game.

And she was running towards Sick Village!

Although she didn’t have a complete grasp on the terrain of Sick Village, she could still make use of the traps appropriately.

It’s the classic mob-piling strategy!

"Swish, swish, swish!"

Every time Steeran opened up some distance, she’d shoot a few arrows back, continuously wearing down the Demons’ stamina, who bravely retaliated. Their hardened feather-wings shot out like bullets, and Steeran, caught off guard, sustained several cuts, scaring her into checking for poison.

Relieved to find none, she felt—oddly enough—a tinge of disappointment.

All the Blowgunners in Sain Dungeon were known for their poison use.

The Demons, notorious for their sly cunning, not using poison was somewhat disappointing.

No, what am I disappointed about!? Isn’t this good news!

Steeran quickly slapped her face, horrified to realize that she’d been tamed by Sain Dungeon, even beginning to complain about the enemy not being strong enough.

She fled, they chased, and she was trapped with no way to take wing.

"Are we safe now?"

After a long while, when Steeran and the Demon Clan both entered Sick Village, Barren and Sari finally dared to stick their heads out.

"Should we... go and help?" Sari asked hesitantly.

Barren quickly waved his hand and said, "Are you crazy? How could we possibly beat the Demon Clan!"

"But, they are fighting for us..."

"I heard that Assistants won’t really die if they’re defeated. Miss Steeran is not in life-threatening danger. If we go, we’ll just drag her down and she’ll have to protect us,"

Barren spoke quickly, "What we need to do now is to leave the Dungeon as soon as possible and report to the City Lord, asking him to conduct a thorough investigation of Bed City again!"

Steeran was sprinting through Sick Village, with the Demon Clan hot on her heels. House after house looked practically identical, making it easy to get lost.

"I remember... it’s there!"

She noticed that the path ahead of her was getting narrower, so narrow that only one person could pass, and there was even a corner ahead.

Steeran decisively leapt, running along the walls, never letting herself touch the ground as she ran past the corner.

The hoard of Demon Clan, not giving it much thought, went straight into the alley in a single-file line, and charged past the corner—

And then the leading tentacled Demon Clan was fiercely pounced on by two Huge Living Corpses hidden around the corner!

The Huge Living Corpses swung their huge clubs, whipping up a fierce wind, as the screams of the tentacled Demon Clan filled the air.

Other members of the Demon Clan were temporarily blocked, and at this moment, several Animated Corpse soldiers leaped out of the rundown houses alongside the alley and rushed towards the Demon Clan. This narrow alley where only one person could pass was truly malicious.

"Good opportunity,"

Steeran revealed a happy smile, as she had died here once before, and she found it quite exhilarating to trick the Demon Clan.

She activated some kind of Combat Skill that allowed her to stand on the wall like Spiderman, pulled her longbow to its limit, a flame-like radiance converged upon the arrow, signifying that this strike would surely be extraordinary!

The pounced-on tentacled Demon Clan, feeling the threat, roared furiously, waving its claws and fighting against the interference of the Huge Living Corpses.

"Combat Skill, [Breaking Flame Strike],"

Breaking Flame Strike engulfs the weapon with flames. If the next strike is made with full force, there is a fifty percent chance of a critical hit to the enemy’s weak point, but this probability increases with the user’s combat experience.

The arrow wrapped in flames shot out instantly, and at the same time, the tentacled Demon Clan finally tore the ’big brother’ apart, but it was too late to defend!

"AOW!!!"

With an unwilling roar, it was struck right in the forehead by the arrow, followed by a "boom," its head exploded instantaneously, and burnt flesh scattered everywhere.

The flames accidentally prevented the Demon Clan’s regeneration, and if it could not recover for a long time, it might truly die.

The hatred value of the remaining Demon Clan towards Steeran rose even higher, and they even activated Fury Mode, doubling their chase speed.

Steeran relied on her mastery of the terrain, moving quickly and occasionally using traps to torment the Demon Clan, momentarily seeming to have a chance at victory.

However...

"Not again, am I lost?"

She stared at the dead end in front of her and was rendered speechless for a moment.

Indeed, even after exploring Sick Village many times, she still got lost...

Now, what should she do?

The Demon Clan approached angrily, and in such a narrow space, she could no longer use her bow and arrow, so she had to pull out her dagger.

She had to fight to the death, wondering if there would be a soul reward for killing the Demon Clan.

Steeran crouched low, preparing to use one of her few melee Combat Skills.

The Demon Clan members swung their mutated limbs, like a dance of countless demons.

In this tense moment, she caught something out of the corner of her eye.

"What’s that!"

Steeran’s eyes widened in shock because she saw a figure she had been longing for behind the Monster!

It was...

It was the Molten Furnace Knight!
