Chapter 132: Chapter 132: The Mole

"What do you mean?" Upon hearing Ashu’s instigation, Isabella tilted her head, seemingly confirming the system’s introduction about her lack of education.

Observing her expression, Ashu could tell that this girl had no idea about the plan to assassinate the Luminous Saint.

So he dropped the idea.

He shifted the topic. "What I mean is, all schemes and ruses will eventually be exposed under the radiance of Holy Light. The enforcers of the Kingdom of Ankgarde got what they deserved. But in the end, they were just a surprise—nothing more. The real focus is the town right in front of us."

Now that Isabella had arrived, there was no reason not to make use of her.

From the system’s profile and their brief time together, it was clear this girl wasn’t particularly bright. Therefore, establishing trust with her early would prove immensely helpful when they faced the dragon’s den two months from now.

Previously, he’d worried the Imperial Princess might also target him.

But now, never mind those assumptions—first things first, he had to bring this Michael Divine Chosen under his command!

And to establish trust with a personality like this Imperial Princess, battle was the only way.

First, she loved fighting.

Second, doing it under the banner of serving the Empire would only make her like it more.

At this very moment—

Only two Greater Demons remained within the city; the rest of the demon army had been driven out and crushed by the military.

Inside Rose Valley Town now, only Shava and Lilith were left.

Shava was currently imprisoned in a cage of holy light by Vivita, and Vivita herself had temporarily lost the ability to fight.

As for the mortal army, in a battle of this level, they were just cannon fodder.

Only the unexpected arrival of the Imperial Princess Isabella could be of any real use.

"Hmph! I just finished warming up!" Isabella huffed arrogantly, brushing her delicate nose. "Let’s go in there right now and slaughter every last demon!"

Hearing this—

Vivita quickly tried to stop her. "Princess Isabella, there are still a large number of ordinary townsfolk inside the city. I can only suppress one of the Greater Demons and keep it from harming them. As for the other one, I can’t be sure. So ideally, we should lure that one outside to fight, to avoid civilian casualties."

Isabella nodded vigorously and gave a brilliant, innocent smile. "Don’t worry, Sister Vivita—leave it to me!"

"If the opportunity arises," Vivita added, "it’d be best to kill the Greater Demon trapped in the light cage first. That way, I can follow up and assist you afterward."

Once Shava died, the skill would deactivate on its own, and she would regain her strength.

"Got it!" Isabella nodded again.

But Ashu, standing nearby, couldn’t let them have their way.

If Shava died, Vivita would recover, and then the fight would turn into two against one. Even with Lilith’s demigod Bloodline, she wouldn’t stand a chance—because her demigod Bloodline wasn’t the kind that was celebrated, but one cursed by her own father. As such, it granted her very little strength.

"I’m coming too!" Ashu volunteered with ulterior motives.

He needed to alert Lilith early, force her to act sooner—before Isabella could get her way.

Before leaving the city, he had already discussed things with Lilith.

Lilith bore a curse from her celestial father—only those who met certain special conditions could see her. And Ashu’s presence meant that he carried two opposing forces within him.

This wasn’t a secret from the moment they first met.

So Ashu trimmed down his original plan and shared it with Lilith. Lilith had no objections. At this stage, she was still just a novice succubus concerned only with eating her fill—and with Ashu’s Bloodline now intensified tenfold, he had practically become her next meal.

"Ashu... be careful." Vivita looked at Ashu’s back and reminded him gently.

As the first woman who had actively helped Ashu obtain Cidi Evil Power, she knew that Ashu possessed skills like Reaper’s Resolve.

That kind of power belonged to cultists—under normal circumstances, it must remain hidden from the world.

But in certain situations, it could be used to preserve his life.

"Got it," Ashu replied.

With that, he followed Imperial Princess Isabella toward the gates of Rose Valley Town.

Just before dawn.

The full moon was shrouded behind clouds, and the night was thick as ink.

The shattered city walls, broken apart by Lilith, loomed like a wounded, shadowy beast. Its jagged fangs jutted through the mist in flashes of silhouette.

The blood left behind from her slaughter had already congealed into black scabs, mixed with the crumbled stones in grotesque clumps.

Amidst the ruins, the occasional scurrying of rats and the distant, faint sounds of animals gnawing at one another added a chilling, deathly stillness to the wreckage.

Ashu leapt into the air, looking down on the battlefield below. With nothing blocking his line of sight, his signal would reach Lilith more quickly.

As expected, the moment Lilith sensed Ashu’s movement, she made her move.

Others couldn’t see her.

Suddenly, a thick mist erupted from the center of the city.

Seeing this, Ashu relaxed. With that much fog, even if Isabella was a little cannonball, she wouldn’t be able to pierce Lilith’s defenses.

He looked down again.

At the foot of the wall, Isabella’s massive battle-axe sparked against the rubble. The girl leapt nimbly from the debris. The full moon emerged once more from behind the dark clouds, casting moonlight down onto the town, illuminating her slender figure.

"I smell Demon blood...!" Her ocean-blue eyes brimmed with fighting spirit. Her knuckles whitened around the shaft of her weapon from gripping too hard. That colossal battle-axe, taken from the Imperial Treasury, now bore ten deep fingerprints at the grip from her grasp alone!

Ashu looked into the distance again.

He saw Lilith walking barefoot across the green brick road, her figure rising steadily. When she noticed Ashu watching, her vertical violet pupils narrowed slightly. She stretched out her tongue and slowly licked the corner of her lips, then blew him an air-kiss laced with heavy innuendo.

She could flirt with Ashu as openly as she wanted—after all, no one else could see her.

But Ashu had to keep himself under control.

He had to pretend nothing was happening.

Then, at a sudden trigger—maybe a snapped branch or a gust of eerie wind brushing the ground—Isabella shot forward like a bolt of golden lightning, charging directly toward the direction of the Greater Demon she had sensed.

That direction aligned perfectly with the conspicuous cage of light glowing in the night.

If the opportunity presented itself, she could also free Vivita first.

"Demon! Prepare to die!" she shouted sweetly, her gilded battle lance slicing through the morning mist. A golden Thunderbolt slithered down along the edge of the lance; where it passed, the air shrieked with explosive bangs, and the ground beneath was scorched into deep ravines by the lightning. Rubble along the path melted into lava under its residual force.

However, the moment the Thunderbolt touched the strange, eerie mist, it was instantly broken down by an invisible force into scattered stardust.

Isabella’s full-powered strike landed as if against cotton.

Just then, Lilith’s laughter echoed from all directions, bearing the distorted resonance unique to Greater Demons: "Little girl, is that all you’ve got?"

As her voice fell, her figure suddenly appeared above Isabella’s head. A purple magic missile had already gathered at her fingertip, screaming through the air with spatial distortion. The surrounding air twisted violently, forming numerous tiny spatial vortices.

Of course, this was all from Ashu’s perspective—Isabella couldn’t see Lilith.

Ashu pretended to intervene just in time and called out, "Your Highness, be careful! This mist demon is extremely strange!"

His voice was tense, but his eyes remained calm as he observed the battlefield.

Isabella’s combat instincts were not lacking in the slightest. He could clearly sense that the moment he faked an attack, she had already reacted—and it was specifically because she recognized his action that she held back, to avoid injuring an ally by mistake.

Which meant—even though this was just a staged fight—he absolutely couldn’t place too much pressure on Lilith. After all, their opponent was far from weak.

"Leave it to me!" Isabella shouted, seizing on Ashu’s retreat to charge back into the fray.

The battlefield instantly became a domain of golden light and thick mist.

Each sweep of Isabella’s battle lance unleashed a blade of golden light. When those blades cleaved into the ground, the sparks they kicked up solidified midair into holy runes. As the runes shimmered, it felt as though something divine was beginning to take form.

Ashu frowned slightly and continued observing in silence.

As the battle deepened, beneath Isabella’s feet, a vast Sacred Sigil Array slowly emerged. The moment its formation was complete, her strength and speed visibly surged to a higher level.

The array radiated dazzling light, within which the faint silhouette of an angel could be seen.

Clearly, this was one of the trump cards of a Michael Divine Chosen.

Unfortunately, this particular trump card was something she had already known before and therefore couldn’t be refunded through the system.

However, the system did deliver another type of prompt:

[Isabella·Atras has gained: Anti-Demonic Special Operations Force +2]

[Critical Return! Vessel has gained: Anti-Demonic Special Operations Force +20]

"This is..."

The same line of data popped up repeatedly like a barrage of bullet comments.

After watching for a while, Ashu concluded that this Michael Divine Chosen gained special bonuses when fighting demons.

Thankfully, this kind of continuous growth was something that could be refunded through the system.

...

After activating the angelic phantom, Imperial Princess Isabella’s combat power rose sharply, and Ashu couldn’t help but cast a worried glance at Lilith.

Lilith had already spread her succubus wings. With every flap, torrents of violet Magical Essence poured down like waterfalls. Wherever it touched the ground, deep pits corroded instantly into bottomless craters, and black smoke continuously billowed from within.

Isabella raised her arm in defense, and the angelic phantom immediately extended its ethereal wings, shielding her beneath them.

Seeing this, Ashu also began his performance. He couldn’t put too much pressure on Lilith, but he couldn’t just stand around doing nothing either.

So, he chose to charge up Thundering Surge, preparing to strike indiscriminately at everyone in the area.

After all, from an outsider’s perspective, they were simply fighting against a massive cloud of mist.

In this kind of situation—against something "without form"—summoning a Holy Shield Knight would’ve been reckless.
