Chapter 131: How Dare You Insult Me!
Chapter 131: Chapter 131: How Dare You Insult Me!
Now, it was up to the two of them to actively find any opportunity to explain themselves clearly.
The Bow King released his bowstring; a frost-coated arrow tore through the sky, carrying biting cold aimed at Isabella. Meanwhile, the Mage-King swung his staff, summoning a massive fiery tornado, attempting to engulf her.
Only by confronting her head-on did they have a chance to calm Isabella down.
Isabella moved nimbly, weaving through the arrows and flames. Golden patterns appeared on her skin—tangible manifestations of her chosen power.
With a fierce shout, she swung her halberd down hard. A golden blade of energy sliced the fiery tornado in two, then shifted direction to block the Bow King’s frost arrows.
Frost clashed with blade energy, erupting into a dazzling light. The powerful shockwave tossed nearby rubble and dust high into the air.
"Interesting," the Bow King sneered, drawing his longbow once more. This time, he fired three frost arrows simultaneously. The arrows wove together midair, forming a massive icy net that completely cut off Isabella’s retreat.
Mage-King Geodia seized the opportunity to strike. The fiery gemstone atop his staff blazed brightly as a giant fire elemental erupted from the ground. It swung its burning arms toward Isabella with overwhelming force.
Isabella showed no fear. Gripping her halberd with both hands, she charged upward fiercely.
At the same time, a towering golden pillar of light descended from the sky, enveloping her.
She swung her war halberd, golden sparks flying everywhere, effortlessly shattering both the icy net and the fire elemental.
From a distance, Crown Prince Wilson watched the scene, furious beyond measure. "Idiot! Why would you fight my monstrous little sister? Once she starts fighting, she always insists on a clear winner..."
His brow furrowed tightly as he quickly ordered his two attendants, "Both of you, hurry and report to my father. Tell him to recall Isabella immediately."
"Yes, Your Highness!"
Ashu stood beside Vivita, activating his Reaper’s Eye. Watching the fierce battle on the field, a faint, almost imperceptible smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
Today, by letting Isabella face the Bow King and Mage-King, those two would no longer be able to show up at Isabella’s coming-of-age ceremony.
For Ashu, that was just the minimum outcome. Who knew? Maybe Isabella would explode with power today and directly kill those two foreigners.
After all, she was a chosen of Michael.
...
The Bow King and Mage-King gradually began to feel the strain. They hadn’t expected such overwhelming power from an underage girl.
What troubled them even more was that Isabella’s attacks were wildly unpredictable yet incredibly powerful, completely defying any rules.
"We can’t keep going like this!" the Mage-King declared.
"We have to finish this quickly!" the Bow King agreed, nodding.
He took a deep breath, pouring all his strength into the crystal longbow. The bow hummed under the strain, and a massive frost dragon formed on the bowstring. The dragon’s eyes glowed with icy light as it opened its bloodthirsty maw and lunged roaring toward Isabella.
At the same time, the Mage-King launched his ultimate attack. He plunged his staff into the ground, causing all the flames on the battlefield to surge and boil, finally converging into a giant fiery phoenix that spread its wings and flew straight at Isabella.
Isabella stared down the ultimate moves of the two powerful foes, but instead of retreating, her eyes blazed with even stronger fighting spirit.
Raising her halberd high, she shouted, "My God! Grant me your Holy Shield!"
Immediately, a huge golden shield unfolded before her, its surface glowing with countless sacred runes.
The frost dragon and fiery phoenix slammed into the shield simultaneously. A powerful energy wave swept the entire area, causing the ground of the flower fields to tremble.
When the dust settled, Isabella, though somewhat battered, still stood firm. Her white knight dress was torn and ragged, her golden curls wild and messy, but her gaze was more determined than ever.
She looked at the Bow King and Mage-King with a disdainful smile. "Is that all you’ve got? Bring it on!"
Crown Prince Wilson watched this scene, feeling his vision darken and nearly faint.
Why wouldn’t his sister obey and sneak out of the Imperial Capital?
Why did she attack?
Why was she opposing his men?
...
Under the cloak of night, the battle raged on.
The Bow King and Mage-King sought an escape, but Isabella, relying on her strength, kept close and relentless.
"Little brat, try this arrow! Eternal Frost!" the Bow King roared, a towering icy giant over a hundred meters tall materializing behind him.
The black crystal longbow was drawn to a full moon. Seven arrows wrapped in frost-covered chains shot forth, freezing the air along their path into a corridor of ice crystals.
Isabella didn’t dodge or evade; instead, she slammed her halberd heavily into the ground. "My God! Grant me the power to break through barriers!"
A golden pillar of light shot up into the sky. The arrows exploded the moment they touched her holy shield, and countless tiny ice needles shot out from the frost mist, raining down on the girl like a storm.
"Is that all?" Isabella tilted her head with a disdainful smile as golden ripples spread around her.
Those ice needles all melted into water three inches from her body, winding along the ground’s grooves like a stream.
Suddenly, she leapt up, her halberd carving a dazzling arc of light so fast that the Bow King’s pupils contracted sharply.
The icy giant’s shadow hastily swung a fist to block but was pierced directly through by her halberd. The shockwave from the punch blasted the nearby ruins flat.
Seeing this, the Mage-King’s eyes flashed with menace.
He was no ordinary Mage-King; born from the God of Deceit cult, his specialty wasn’t fire, water, or ice magic, but deception magic.
Deception magic was effective as long as the opponent believed in it.
For example, if the opponent believed the caster was the God of Deceit, even though the caster couldn’t wield the god’s true power, winning the battle was still possible.
Mage-King Geodia slowly paced with his flaming staff, the gemstone atop flowing with an eerie purple aura. "Little girl, are you the only one who can call upon gods? Just watch!"
At his raise of the hand, a blood-red rain suddenly fell from the sky over the battlefield. When the drops hit the ground, they transformed into countless twisted faces, screaming piercingly.
Isabella wrinkled her nose, her bright blue eyes filled with confusion. "Watch what?"
Mage-King’s fingertip runes glowed, and the ground cracked open. Thorn-covered vines shot out, indiscriminately wrapping around the three of them. But only Mage-King let himself be entangled, as if offering himself as a sacrifice.
Isabella nimbly jumped up, sweeping her halberd across. The vines turned to ash the moment they touched the holy light emanating from her.
"What are you doing?" she demanded.
Perhaps in Geodia’s eyes, he was performing a sacred summoning ritual, but to Isabella, he was senselessly self-harming—her limited education made her immune to deception magic’s effects. Geodia was just fooling himself.
Isabella struck again.
The Mage-King hastily retreated, swirling his staff to summon three fiery giant wolves.
The wolves breathed flames that solidified into chains in midair, attempting to trap Isabella.
But the girl charged right into the fiery net, sweeping her halberd; the flaming chains shattered inch by inch.
As she closed in on the Mage-King, he suddenly vanished, leaving only a burning wizard’s hat on the spot.
The space behind Isabella warped as the Mage-King’s staff, wrapped in deadly flames, came crashing down.
At the last second, a blinding light burst from her, forming a shield that deflected the attack.
The Mage-King was thrown back, tumbling over a dozen times, coughing blood as he crawled out of the dirt, eyes full of unwillingness. "What kind of monster is this bastard?!"
"You dare insult me?!" Isabella’s anger flared instantly at his words.
"My God! Please help me cleanse all evil!"
She hurled her massive halberd into the sky, and a golden thunderbolt crashed down from the clouds. The Mage-King tried to summon a wall of fire to block it but found the flames instantly extinguished by the divine thunderbolt. The bolt struck his staff precisely, shattering the gemstone into bullet-like shards that sprayed outward.
Geodia screamed in agony and was blasted backward, blood gradually seeping in dense spots from his chest. After struggling a few times, his head slumped sideways, and he no longer moved.
The Bow King, witnessing this, gripped his black crystal longbow, which let out a strained, mournful groan.
He stared at the dazzling holy light radiating from Isabella and felt a chill run through him.
"This fucking monster! Wilson, damn you! How dare you fool us!" he snarled bitterly in his mind, then, taking advantage of Geodia’s death drawing Isabella’s attention, he quickly transformed into a streak of light and fled the battlefield.
Far away, Crown Prince Wilson was so furious he almost shattered his molars.
He collapsed onto his carriage in a daze. Bow King and Mage-King together should have been able to suppress the demons in Rose Valley town, but now the Mage-King was dead by Isabella’s hand, and the Bow King had simply abandoned the fight, meaning all their effort was for nothing!
"Isabella... you completely ruined my big plan!" he muttered through clenched teeth, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.
...
Ashu looked at the fallen Mage-King’s corpse at the center of the battlefield and the fleeing Bow King with great joy.
Imperial Princess Isabella did not pursue Bow King White Arrow — that guy’s escape speed was too fast.
Instead, she returned to Vivita and Ashu, planting her halberd heavily into the ground like a pillar.
"Killed only one—such a pity."
"Indeed, Your Imperial Highness. That is truly a pity," Ashu remarked.
Isabella clenched her halberd and nodded heavily. "Once I come of age, I will petition my father to lead the army to invade the Kingdom of Ankgarde! This is blatant provocation! Killing your colleagues at the border was one thing, but invading the heart of the empire, so close to the Imperial Capital—only one step away!"
At this, Ashu tactfully hinted, "Is there a possibility, Your Imperial Highness, that someone within the Imperial Capital is colluding with the Kingdom of Ankgarde, engaging in shady dealings hidden from the light?"
