When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 73 - 74: Two Cripples
Chapter 73: Chapter 74: Two Cripples
The ice arrow struck the titan’s chest. It spread over its entire body like armor.
Then there was silence.
Cail held his breath as he stared at the titan. Sellene felt her head throbbing in pain from all the exertion.
But alas, they heard the sound of breaking ice. They saw cracks starting to form on the titan’s body.
"ARRRRRRRGGGHH!"
The ice restraining it shattered. It flew everywhere like it was raining blades. It lashed the trees, fell into buildings, and attacked everyone in the area indiscriminately.
"FUCK!" Cail cursed as one of the ice shards stabbed him in the arm.
Sellene was gritting her teeth. Although that wasn’t her strongest attack, it was among the top three. Based on that titan’s reaction, even if she used her most powerful one, it would still be useless.
Then the titan attacked.
Sellene barely had time to react. She was quick to dodge to the side, the titan’s fist slamming into the ground where she stood.
The force created a crater. One could imagine how much force that was. Dust and snow exploded upward from the pit.
She hit the ground, rolled, then threw a frozen blade mid-fall. It didn’t even graze the titan’s arm.
Cail felt his head aching. This type of physical fight against something that was a thousand times larger than him was not something that he could win.
"Damn!" His eyes were already straining, but he forced himself to look at the titan.
Then he saw something. It was very faint. He would have thought it was a floater at first, but it was a very thin thread.
Before, Cail would only see parasitic threads and auras. Now, even if the thing was not parasitic, he could see its thread. Did his artifact tuning increase because of the surge of crisis? Or was this thread something else?
With no other choice, while Sellene was fighting the titan, Cail took advantage of his invisible presence and ran toward the titan. He made sure not to let it notice him.
Despite the healing potion he drank, it didn’t really replenish energy. Heck, it didn’t even replenish blood. He could see black spots in his vision, and probably, maybe another straining use of his glasses would cost him his eye.
Sellene sent another barrage. It was dozens of needle-thin icicles aimed at the titan’s eyes. It raised an arm to block them, some penetrating deep into its skin.
It was a good shot, but Sellene’s void energy was draining very fast.
She looked back and was shocked. "Where is he?"
Then she heard the titan roar. It was filled with confusion. Sellene looked around to find what was causing it to react that way and saw the helmet guy at a risky distance from the titan. He seemed to be holding something in his hand that was not visible to the naked eye.
Cail grabbed the thread. And when the titan noticed him, he didn’t let go and increased the absorption.
Yes, he just realized that touching this thread seemed to make him absorb the void energy from the titan.
But that didn’t come without a price. He looked at his arm and saw his veins bulging like they were about to explode. This amount of void energy was too much for his body.
"DON’T JUST STAND THERE! ATTACK IT!" Cail yelled.
Sellene snapped out of her daze. This time she was using her strongest attack.
She raised her left arm, a small ball of ice formed. It didn’t even reach a second when it turned into a gigantic circle. Inside were swirling snowflakes... it looked like a mini world held inside a globe.
Sellene threw it at the arm that was aiming at Cail. The moment the ice globe hit the titan’s arm, it immediately shattered, and all the energy that was stored inside burst.
Cail used his void energy to wrap around his body. Him absorbing the void energy inside the titan was both fortunate and unfortunate.
It was pure and cold. The titan, in its weakened state, was hit by the ice. It screamed as its hand instantly shattered.
If the attack before just covered everything in ice, this attack turned everything into ice.
The soil, the tree, the buildings... and more importantly, the titan.
The moment the titan turned into ice, Sellene, who was floating midair, came crashing down to the ground.
Cail wasn’t in the mood to be a gentleman, although he was never one to begin with. Blood dripped out of his helmet. He was spitting blood now.
His body felt so sore that one move would cause him to explode. It wasn’t a nice feeling, as he had never felt this fragile before.
To be honest, if she wasn’t very useful to his plan, he would have left her to distract the titan and hide. But no, she was a very important pawn. He felt annoyed at her and the titan. Actually, he was already in a pissy mood now.
But for now, his impression of everyone, related or not, was -10,000.
He dragged his spent body. Everything hurt to the soul level. This was not something he was trained for, but he had no choice but to grit his teeth and walk toward the fallen lady.
He nudged her with his foot. "You’re still awake. I know."
Sellene pouted. "No! I want a break time!" Then her eyes reddened, and she cried.
Cail was shocked. This woman... she was still crying at this age?!
Seeing Cail gawking at her, she covered her face. It really wasn’t her intention to cry. She tried to hide it, but the tears really wouldn’t stop.
"I—I’m fine!" She tried to act mature. "Something got into my eyes."
Cail looked like he was staring at a rare species. "You definitely cried," he insisted.
Sellene stood up. Despite staggering, she held Cail’s hand. "Ugh! I’m not crying! Let’s go now!"
Cail was silent. Fortunately, this vehicle still worked. Sellene dragged Cail. Although the speed was very slow compared to before, it was still something.
Looking at their state... Cail thought.
One cripple became two cripples. Will this plan really work?
