When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?!
Chapter 65: Saving Grace

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Saving Grace

Cail felt like he was lying on top of the softest mattress. The cold snowflakes landed on his cheek. His eyes slackened a bit. The sudden feeling of cold made his wounds feel a bit of relief.

How I wish I could just lie down here.

But the crisis wouldn’t wait for him to relax. He got back to work almost immediately after realizing that there was more strong void energy coming.

He sat up. His heart skipped a beat when he saw a doll staring at him, then he realized that it was the white woman who had saved him.

Sellene obviously noticed his startled look. She snorted in dissatisfaction. "Heh, you just noticed me here? Did you think that my snow would rush here by itself without me?"

Cail suddenly pulled off his helmet and threw it at Sellene. She was clearly caught off guard by the sudden attack, but she quickly caught the black helmet.

"What was that—" Her voice caught in her throat when she saw Cail wearing a new, unblemished helmet. She threw the broken helmet on the ground and looked at him. "You really are very secretive about your face."

Of course I am, Cail thought. Safety aside, it would be hell once someone discovered he looked like that bastard (Virehn).

Cail stood up. His entire body almost crumbled the moment he exerted force on it. Sellene caught him just in time.

"I didn’t notice you, alright? Your presence is not that noticeable," Cail said, deflecting the topic about his face. He once again tried to stand up.

Sellene wanted to punch him, but she remembered that she owed this guy. "Stop forcing yourself. We can hide here."

"No, we need to leave," Cail pointed above. "A lot of people are coming. I’m not in the mood to accompany them for a party."

His body could move before because of adrenaline, but after he relaxed on the snow for a second, his body’s tight string loosened.

He touched his stomach. Did that bone pierce something? It was already a good sign that he wasn’t gurgling blood or feeling any organ failure. It was unknown what was going on inside, but it was fortunate that he didn’t feel like he was dying anytime soon.

Sellene noticed his pause. She looked at his sorry figure in contemplation. After she decided, she tossed something to Cail.

Cail caught it. It looked like a small, pointed diamond with black liquid sloshing inside.

"What’s this?" Cail whirled the liquid inside.

After hearing that question, Sellene remembered that Cail seemed to be an unaffiliated new void user. She explained it in simpler terms, "A healing potion."

Cail looked at her skeptically. "Why are you giving this to me? You don’t owe me anything now." Him saving her and her saving him. It was done.

Sellene looked at him as if she were looking at an idiot. "Why does someone like you get to stumble upon this precious artifact?" She touched the bracelet on her hand, which was already missing a bead.

She looked at Cail warily. "Don’t ever think of getting this bracelet back! You already gave it to me!"

Cail looked at her, his eyes flashing with a calculative glint. She thinks that bracelet is some kind of powerful artifact?

In fact, although Cail was almost drained to death making two of them, it wasn’t a big deal as he was quick to heal. Just eat those emotions that the client traded for, and it was all good to go.

But such a good opportunity to take advantage of something... there’s no way I’ll let this pass.

"I won’t take that from you. I already gave it," Cail tilted his head. "But why were you willing to come back here and help me? You could have taken that bracelet and left." That was a genuine question for him because if he were in her position, he would have taken the bracelet and not involved himself in the mess.

Sellene’s eyes widened. "I’m not ungrateful! I wouldn’t do that!"

Yeah, I’m the ungrateful one, Cail admitted to himself without hard feelings.

He looked up once again. He popped the bottle and first let a small drop of the liquid drip on his tongue. He could sense the vitality. It was something good.

Cail drank the rest and put the bottle away. "We need to leave now." He grabbed Sellene’s hand and stared at her.

Sellene was a bit confused as to what the rush was, but when Cail grabbed her hand, she thought that he would run and drag her away. However, Cail just stared at her.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" she asked.

"You’re a fast runner. Drag me away." Clearly, Cail remembered the time when they were running away from the Tyrant.

Sellene was shocked by the audacity, but sensing that he seemed to be really in a rush, she pushed his hand away and grabbed him instead. "You want fast? Then I’ll show you!" Then all Cail could see was a blur.

Cail sensed spite from that comment, but he didn’t mind. As long as the job was done, he had no issues.

Like a kite on a string, Cail was led aimlessly. He didn’t say anything since they seemed to be getting farther and farther away. He looked up and saw that the fucking red clouds were still hot on his heels.

Sellene also saw it. She felt a bit of pity for him. "Oh my god. How unfortunate for you to get the key."

Cail didn’t want to speak. He actually couldn’t just let his body be dragged along; he also needed to kind of pedal his feet on the ground. "You’re not tempted by the Key?"

Sellene shook her head. "It’s not my thing to steal other people’s fortunate encounters."

Another sheltered child, Cail thought.

"You have no idea why I was in a rush a while ago, right?" Cail felt that the reason behind this wasn’t hard to deduce, but her being confused about it signified that there seemed to be more air than brain inside.

Sellene nodded. "You can rest a bit. You’re injured. Although that medicine will heal your wounds and broken bones, it unfortunately does not have the ability to replenish energy and blood."

How innocent. Cail thought that being a void user usually meant that they were ruthless and brutal. As for his reasoning behind that, the otherworld seemed to correlate strength with authority.

This woman probably never experienced a sense of crisis aside from the Tyrant.

Sellene found a small mine. She dragged Cail inside.

As for Cail, he was apprehensive about this place since he seemed to have trauma about tunnels. But so far, this one seemed to be the safest with the clouds looming above.

Then just as he thought he could rest for a bit, he heard the white woman say—

"Hey! What’s that?!"

Oh for fuck’s sake. Give him a break.
