Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Meeting

Cail felt the world spinning. His wound was quick to stop bleeding, but the effects of blood loss were quick to catch up to him.

He could see two void energy auras approaching him. He was familiar with one of them, that was Sirae’s void energy. Actually, it was a bit surprising, but Cail had never seen her void energy before entering the rift. It could have something to do with the fact that he wanted to minimize his use of his artifact, as it caused strain.

"I can feel the sting," Cail muttered, knowing what was going on inside his helmet. "Me wearing sunglasses is probably going to become my trademark."

Finally, the two approaching auras arrived.

"Oh dear. Another contender."

Cail looked back and saw that someone had finally arrived. Under his helmet, he smiled.

"I’ll let you choose... how do you want to die?"

It was foggy and dark. It looked like they were immersed in some kind of mystical realm that smelled like burning flesh and wood.

Upon a closer look, despite his strained eyes, he finally managed to get a clear glimpse of the man.

Why is he here? And he seemed to be a void user too...

Cail’s heart skipped a beat, and his body seemed to feel numb. His feelings in this situation were no different from looking back and seeing a plane about to crash on him, totally unexpected and incomprehensible.

It was a man that Cail would never forget, even if he burned to ashes.

The fire was still raging. Smoke filled the entire area, making the man even more illusory.

At first, Cail thought that his insanity had finally caught up to him, just like his blood loss, making him hallucinate. But Sirae’s scream snapped him back to reality.

"Brother, Aires!" Sirae screamed as she darted toward the fire. It was a touching scene of love... of course, if you ignored the fact that Aires was her sister’s lover.

Cail ignored her. To be honest, this was the first time he had experienced such a huge emotional turmoil.

This was the first time he had seen this person face to face. But the moment his eyes landed on that man, his thoughts burned with a malicious intensity that he had never experienced before.

SAEB ELDRETH.

Why is he here? Cail was feeling territorial. It felt like a kid he hated had suddenly joined him on his playground.

It was just a second, but countless thoughts sprang into Cail’s mind. Cail’s eyes resembled his mother’s. They were foxy eyes with upturned tips. Because of that, even though he always looked gloomy, they seemed to have a bit of sass. But aside from the eyes, Cail actually resembled his father more.

Now seeing Saeb face to face and not just on TV, all Cail could say was that the two of them were certainly related.

It didn’t spark a feeling of kinship at all. Cail wanted to step on that face and crush it into the ground... the resemblance felt like a slap on his face. The sense of substitution for something he had not experienced or would never experience hit him hard.

"Playing with fire? That’s dangerous," Saeb said as he glanced at Sirae, who was trying to pull Aires out of the fire.

His voice snapped Cail back to reality. "Well, look who the universe dragged in. Isn’t this the golden prince?" Cail said mockingly.

Saeb didn’t think much of it. His name was now famous in the otherworld. "You survived Aires."

Seeing that cold and unresponsive face, Cail thought, I want to skin you, chop you into bits, and package you at your parents’ doorstep. It was a hard pill to swallow\... being cold, being willful, and being prideful. That is something people in power will experience.

Such a proud look, he probably never experienced bending down and smiling for survival. The feeling of doing something you don’t want to do just because you need to survive. This emotionless son of luck probably never experienced that.

So far, before this, Saeb had never done anything wrong to him. If we view this from a normal moral perspective, Saeb was innocent. Cail understood the concept, but understanding didn’t make it easier to swallow.

Cail stood up, his blood staining the ground. He looked absolutely wrecked... so weak that even a strong gust of wind could blast him away.

Looking at his pathetic figure, Saeb commented, "You’re lucky to survive with only that injury." Then the sword in his hand glowed. "But unfortunately, you met me. Choose how you want to die."

Cail had no idea what his expression looked like under the helmet, as he was now functioning on autopilot. But he could imagine that he probably looked like a ghoul wanting to eat Saeb’s corpse.

"I asked you that question before, but you never answered."

Then he tilted his head as he stared at Saeb. "Are you like that to people you think are beneath you, or are you just a moronic, broken repeater who cannot comprehend what he was hearing?"

"Sharp tongue for someone who’s almost bleeding to death," Saeb said with interest. He didn’t attack but looked at Cail with more emotion than he had shown the entire journey. "You caught my interest. Why don’t you tell me your name?"

"No. I’d rather die nameless than tell you my name," Cail said, his eyes narrowing.

Why is this guy yapping? If he were in Saeb’s position, the moment he had seen himself, he would’ve chopped his head off and ended it.

Cail’s heart was pounding. Countless emotions coursed through him. But feeling this newfound emotion was not his agenda in this situation. He needed to focus. In his eyes, Saeb suddenly turned into a mannequin... a faceless man standing there.

His emotions were suppressed.

"Why are you not doing anything?" Cail vocalized his thoughts. "Could it be you’re waiting? Or maybe analyzing something?" It wasn’t a question that needed an answer, but Cail wanted to rouse this guy’s emotions. It didn’t look easy at all, as he seemed to have inherited his father’s psychopathic tendencies.

Saeb suddenly caught something. "You’re right, I was stalling for some reason," he unexpectedly answered. "But you... why do I feel like you’re waiting for someone?"

Cail smiled. Smart guy. He had sensed that person coming. Whether that person would be an ally or not, their participation could be useful.

Cail played dumb. "Oh no, what are you talking about? Look at you... your spine so straight, your words so clean. You talk like you’ve never been hit before."

"I don’t know the reason for your wait, but I don’t have time for that now," Cail said. Then he glanced at the woman crying while dragging a charred body.

"Hey, lover girl!" Cail caught Sirae’s attention. "Still mourning for that stupid gardener? He’s alive, right? He was screaming like a girl seconds ago. Such bursting energy! It’s impossible for him to die just like that."

Sirae was breaking down after seeing Aires’s state. When she heard Cail’s provocation, her eyes locked on him, it was filled with murderous intent.

"Shut up, or I’ll pull your tongue out!"

That’s a new face, Cail thought. No longer sweet and innocent, are they?

Since he couldn’t provoke Saeb, Sirae was a target.
