When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 51: Sirae and Inshi
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Sirae and Inshi
Inshi finally reacted. She grabbed the weapon hidden in her clothes and pointed it at them. "How did you get in?! Stay back! Don’t move!"
Cail looked at what was in her hand. It was a wand. Cail’s glasses assessed the artifact’s level, and it was just D. With Cail’s null, although he might feel a bit fuzzy, a D-level artifact that doesn’t deal physical damage is considered safe.
For example, if someone were to bring an axe that can produce lightning-type void energy, the lightning wouldn’t harm Cail, but if the axe was smashed into him, that would be a problem.
Seeing that Cail didn’t flinch, Inshi panicked, thinking that she might have encountered some kind of Plunderer. Plunderers are a type of void user that kill other void users inside the rift to steal their belongings. "Plunderer" is just a fancy word for robber.
Cail raised his hand. "I don’t mean any harm." Then he made an OK sign with his fingers."I’m just here to sell. If you’re not interested, then bye-bye."
He made an action as if he were going to pull the child away, but before doing that, he mocked Inshi a bit.
"You being like that, based on what I heard, you are supposed to be someone amazing."
Then he made an exaggerated action of looking her up and down before shaking his head as if he wasn’t satisfied with her choices. "Tsk... How pathetic."
Inshi’s face twitched in anger. She knew that she was probably being taunted, but she was now at the lowest point of her life.
She put down her wand.
Whatever. She gave up. "You— what do you want?"
Let’s just treat this as another crazy hallucination of hers. How could anyone just randomly appear and sell her something?
Hahaha... she must be tripping.
"I don’t want anything. I’m just here for a transaction!" Cail said, smiling. He just stayed outside the window and did not go in for some reason.
"First! Before I offer you my products, tell me your story," Cail said. Just selling isn’t enjoyable. Let’s see how we can be a devil’s advocate for this girl’s life.
Inshi looked confused. "Telling my story?"
Cail nodded. "Yep! Now, I want it. Tell me!"
Inshi felt a bit uncomfortable in this situation. It felt like you’re just sitting inside your room, and then a chicken mascot suddenly falls through your ceiling and starts offering you fried chicken. It was so absurd that you don’t know how to react.
"My name is Inshi," she said. The small one and the big one nodded, indicating that they were listening. "My father is the owner of Dotle. Yes, he is also a void user, and that is a well-known fact among the upper class."
"Our family doesn’t have any rank on the other side. Aside from being rich, we don’t have any foundation. But my father is an ambitious man. It was like he was making a baby factory... he kept marrying multiple women just for the sake of having a powerful child."
Maybe because she had been holding this in for too long in an attempt to be a good daughter, now that she was saying all of this, Inshi felt relieved. "Most were failures. Well, not until the birth of me and Sirae."
"My mother is his fifth wife, and Sirae’s mother is the seventh wife. Both our mothers died. Mine died from dystocia, and Sirae’s mother died when she was four. The two of us have a two-year gap. Maybe because of our similarities. As the only void users among siblings and both being motherless, the two of us became close."
Inshi smiled when she remembered those moments. That smile honestly looked scary, but Cail looked into her bright and gentle eyes and thought,"That gaze looked warm. I wonder what will happen when those cherished memories suddenly become a nightmare?" Cail didn’t say anything and just let her continue.
"I promised to be with her always. When I was already established, I would give Sirae the best life. Both in the normal world and the other side. All she needed to do was be safe and happy." Inshi looked a bit confused.
"Sirae was weak at birth. She is a void user, but not a natural one. Her mother ingested a lot of pills just to give birth to a void-user child. That was also the reason she died early."
"Sirae had a lot of issues with her health, so I was a bit protective of her. I was fine with the idea of taking care of her for the rest of my life..."
Then Inshi looked a bit uncomfortable. "Everything was fine, until that expedition. We found an S-class artifact. Sirae... I knew that she was feeling a bit bad. The gap between how our father treated the two of us... She went out and tried to find the S-class artifact, even when I told her it was dangerous."
Remembering the blazing fire, Inshi closed her eyes, but despite doing that, she could still see and feel what happened at that time.
Seeing that she was pale and about to faint, Cail continued the story for her. "Let me guess. Hmmm, Sirae got into trouble, and in order to save her, you got yourself into that situation?" Cliché, but logical. That was her sister.
Inshi was silent. Her hallucinations worsened again.
Cail leaned his head on the side of the window. "I heard you talking about your sacrifices... You must be feeling confused right now, yes?"
He laughed. "Hearing your story... All I can say is that Sirae got her ambitions fulfilled. Did you just notice? Your situations switched."
"You must be feeling pain being treated like a burden by the group? I think Sirae probably felt that too. Now, you’re in her place."
Then Cail teased a bit. "Hmm, if that’s really her goal, what else are you feeling? Not being there when your lover is out? I wonder... did Sirae also feel that way... seeing the person she liked accompanying you while she was just a useless little burden?"
Inshi was triggered.
"DON’T TALK TO THEM LIKE THAT!"
In Cail’s eyes, The Thing That Your Client Doesn’t Know suddenly activated.
"Her mother’s real child is Sirae."
Cail narrowed his eyes. This is getting interesting.
