When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 102 - 103: The Lord
Chapter 102: Chapter 103: The Lord
It was a quick elimination. After leaving the hideout, Cail quickly fixed his clothes and checked for any bloodstains. When everything was fine, he opened the door and walked out like nothing had happened.
"I should get going." Meeting Mr. Quill and getting involved in whatever he was doing was not on his bucket list.
He walked towards the front desk and finally cancelled his stay at the two rooms. It was fortunate that he never left anything valuable inside and had put them in his space.
...
Yesell felt that the artifact holding them inside the hotel had vanished. "This—what’s happening?" He was in disbelief. Was the enemy planning another attack?
Lira didn’t think much of it; she already wanted to end this mission, so she dragged Egin. "Then let’s get out of here. What if they turned on the artifact once again?"
Ollen didn’t dare do anything without Yesell’s orders. He looked at him, and Yesell, seeing Lira’s impatience, had no choice but to agree. "Let’s get out of here."
They had to drag out Zishi since he seemed to have become unresponsive again. The muscle man, Ollen, was the one who carried him on his back.
Seeing that the artifact’s effects hadn’t come back, they quickly ran because their lives literally depended on it. They didn’t bother to rush to the counter and just ran out of the hotel.
They got out without getting attacked or barred by anyone. It was a bit shocking, and the entire team—except Egin—felt that something was off. What happened to their enemies? Did someone deal with them?
Yesell asked Zishi, who looked pale and weak, "Did your family send anyone?"
Zishi looked at him with dead eyes. "None that I know of."
It seemed that they wouldn’t be getting any answers from this guy. Egin, on the other hand, felt thoughtful. Could that dealer have dealt with their enemies? Was he going to pay for this?
Apologies, but Egin couldn’t be blamed. He had been feeling very ominous, since so far, what he was getting didn’t seem worth the price he paid. He was afraid that the price he would pay in the future would be far greater.
One thing’s for sure... Egin was quite right with his guess, but there was nothing he could do. No caution would prepare him for what was going to happen afterward.
After all, why do people call the dealer’s clients Lambs and not Lucky Ones? Because they are just lambs to be sacrificed to the gods. Sooner or later, they will realize the significance of what they traded for momentary power.
As for now, the entire team and Zishi were lucky. Because of Lira’s impatience, they quickly left the hotel. If they had stayed there for another 20 minutes, they would have met a new wave of enemies... someone stronger and more difficult to deal with than before. Someone almost on the Chairman’s level.
"My Lord, do you really need to come here by yourself?" The aide was quite shocked. He didn’t think the issue was significant enough for their Lord to personally come and check what was happening.
Still wearing the black goblin’s mask and suit, the man entered the hotel. The manager went over to greet him. "Sir, you’re here." He wiped his sweat, feeling like his heart was about to jump out of his throat. Why was the hotel owner here? Was this an unannounced inspection?
When he had heard the attendants tell him that the hotel owner was here, he scrambled to have them check for any issues. And yes, they found a lot... but none as shocking as the dried blood found at the back.
One of the hotel attendants told him that there seemed to have been a photoshoot, so the manager just let them clean it. But as they were cleaning, the manager realized—was the blood they were using really that realistic? Why did it feel like real blood?
Despite that, he still let them continue cleaning and went to the entrance to greet the hotel owner.
The man in the goblin mask didn’t look at the hotel manager. "Give me the list of guests." His eyes scanned the entire hotel.
"Sir?" The manager felt that it sounded like a bit of an invasion of privacy.
The aide sweated for the clueless manager but repeated what his Lord said. "The hotel guest list. The Lord is asking for that." If the Lord had to repeat himself twice, then both he and the manager would be toasted.
The manager was already suffocating from the pressure. He actually wanted to slap himself in the face for asking that. Why bother with legality and privacy? This man was the one paying his salary.
"I’ll go get it. Sir, please take a seat." The hotel manager pointed at the sofa.
Like a fly, the man in the goblin mask ignored him, leaving the manager awkwardly still pointing at the sofa. The aide gave the hotel attendant an apologetic smile before running after his Lord.
They arrived at the hideout. The aide saw the broken chains on the side, and so did the man in the goblin mask. The Hollow Accord Lord nudged the chains with his foot. "Take that with you and let all those men inspect it."
Opening the door, what greeted them was the gruesome death of their men. They were piled on top of each other, and the pool of blood underneath them had almost formed a small puddle inside the room.
The aide didn’t need to be instructed; he went to check what their cause of death was. After investigating, he looked at the Lord and reported the results. "They were knocked out and killed. The perpetrator probably didn’t want to attract any attention from the outside."
"This quality..." the Lord said, his voice laced with disgust. "Can’t you recruit anyone competent? Most members of my organization are insane or weak. You guys really pick up trash, not caring about their quality."
The aide was screaming inside. Did his Lord think that void users grew on trees? No, they were hard to find. And even if they managed to recruit someone sane, they’d turn crazy after some time of joining the Hollow Accord.
The Lord didn’t care about the dead trash. Together with his aide, the two of them went down to the main hideout.
