Chapter 535 - 535: Two Psionics And Armoured Cars

With the security team's help, I cleaned up my area pretty quickly including dragging the remains of the tank and the armoured car off the street before Deviminio's group could reach this area.

"Amber? How are things on your end?" I asked through the comms.

An explosion came from her side of the call while the video showed her ducking behind a wall.

"Hmm… If I have to admit, not too good, Tera… We're being suppressed by machine guns."

Not good? How is she being suppressed?

Mara answered for her before I could ask, "There's others here. We can't use our powers openly."

Ah, that explains it…

"I'll head there right now then, stay put."

Amber let out a dry chuckle, "Don't worry Tera, we're not going anywhere in this."

The situation there is that bad huh?

I told the security team that I would be handling the enemies attacking from the rear before activating sprint mode on my power armour and dashing off into the alley again.

I could see from between the gaps of the buildings that Deviminio was still slowly making his way forward with his group, though it seems like he had managed to slow down as he's currently interviewing some 'random' guy who showed up on the street.

No wonder he didn't show up even after so long, he was already trying his best to stall.

Well, at least the bonus condition for our contract was still intact so I wasn't going to say anything about that.

I dashed past them without getting spotted towards the sound of gunshots.

As I got to the edge of the alley, a hail of lasers splashed against the ground in front of me, prompting me to skid to a stop.

"Be careful Boss…" Ries warned me through the comms, right before a screen appeared in the bottom corner to show me a video feed from one of the drones.

Seems like the armoured car had mounted laser machine guns which the thugs were using to suppress the security team right now.

Just like the earlier group, they had been using their cars as cover but those got shredded into pieces so they had to find cover in the alleys and rubble instead.

Amber and Mara in particular were hiding in an alley opposite from me, both of them giving me a nod when they saw me.

Thankfully, the wreckage of the cars were also what was preventing the thug's armoured car from advancing so they were trying to drag it out from the street while the laser machine guns were covering for them.

"There's a few more coming from down the street as well," Ries reported, switching the view to another drone to show a few more armoured cars cruising towards us.

I guess it's time for me to use the other weapon I brought along… My shoulder mounted CR-Seven Variable Mortar!

Originally I had expected to be using this to rain down mortar fire from the rooftops which was why I brought it along in the first place~

It has multiple different types of mortar rounds that I could fire which I can change through the power armour's AI to help me load in the appropriate rounds.

First thing I did was to fire a high explosive shell at the group of thugs that were trying to move the wreckage.

The whistling sound of my mortar shell caught their attention as they stopped to look around, wondering what was making that sound.

The mortar shell crashed onto the ground from above them and exploded, taking out the entire group that had been unfortunate enough to be standing there.

By then, I had already prepared another mortar shell and fired in the direction of the armoured car before ducking back around the corner right as a hail of lasers were shot in my direction.

I took cover while the alley shielded me from the laser machine guns, right as I saw my smoke mortar shell explode on top of the armoured car, covering the entire area in smoke.

I turned towards the security team who were still hiding in the rubble, "What are you waiting for?! Get the hell out of here! We'll handle this! There might be more up ahead so cover that area instead!"

They looked at the smokescreen I had set up which blocked the laser machine guns from spotting them and immediately made a dash away from here.

Since the laser machine guns were still firing at my previous location, the security team was able to get out of here unharmed.

We waited for them to disappear before Amber and Mara put away their guns.

"Ries?" Amber called out through the comms.

Our Maochatte mechanic understood what she wanted to know immediately, "No worries! There's no cameras located around this area so go ahead!"

"Perfect."

Amber and Mara then stood up straight before walking out into the open while I continued to hide in the alley.

The smoke finally cleared which revealed the two girls to the thugs, all of them probably confused as to why the two of them would just stand in the centre of the road to expose themselves to their guns like that.

Just as the machine guns on the armoured car turned towards my girls, Mara raised her hand and gave it a wave like you would try to shoo off a fly.

The armoured car got flung to the side and smashed itself against the wall of the building, flattening itself like a pancake.

Amber stretched out her hands towards the group of thugs in front of her, causing red embers to appear around the thugs.

Most of them didn't notice and tried to raise their weapons to point at the duo, only for the embers to explode into a giant wall of fire and completely consume the thugs in its fiery embrace.

Screams echoed out from within the flames as the thugs were burned to cinders, the fire extending out to the crushed armoured car as well to burn the wreckage.

She kept the fire up until the thugs had been burned to ashes and the wreckage was nothing more than just a heap of melted metal before extinguishing it with a casual wave of her hands.

I stepped out from the alley right as the screeching of tyres came from the end of the street and the other armoured cars came drifting around the corner.

Mara and Amber stood where they were and watched the four armoured cars driving straight towards them without an ounce of fear on their faces.

The lead car started shooting the mounted laser machine gun at them but their shields materialised to protect them from that.

Obviously their personal shields would not be enough to deal with it and would break pretty quickly but it was enough to give them enough time to deal with the armoured cars.

Mara lifted her hand and with her palm facing upwards before flipping up her arm.

The lead armoured car mimicked her motion and was launched into the air, flipping over and over before it crashed down right on top of the last armoured car, sending it skidding away and smashing into another building.

Amber stretched out her hands to the side and fire materialised around her like a cloak.

She then threw her arms forward and two balls of fire were launched towards the two remaining cars.

The second car tried to swerve away to avoid it but Amber merely altered the direction of the fire ball's flight, allowing it to strike the car in the side and explode.

The force of the explosion was enough to send the car rolling to the side, exposing the third armoured car to the last fireball.

Whoever was driving that car didn't even react in time as the fireball struck the car head on and did the same thing as the first one, flipping the car back while the fire ate away at the car's cabin.

It stood on its end for a moment before finally crashing back down on its back, its wheels still spinning in the air before the fire consumed the entire vehicle.

A few thugs managed to break out from the crashed cars and Mara swept her arm in an arc towards them, her telekinesis lifting them all up into the air.

Amber then spun her hands in a circle and a new ball of fire appeared in front of her before she fired it towards the airborne thugs.

All of them ended up getting consumed by the fire and their screams of agony as they burned to death echoed around the street.

In just a few short seconds, the entire group was wiped out by the two of them without even being able to land a scratch on them.

Damn, I'm so glad to have been here to witness this… Seeing Mara and Amber destroying these guys was so cool…

Amber then turned back to give me a grin with her chest puffed up in pride even as the fire was still burning behind her.

So hot~
