Chapter 99: Morning Like Any Other

At that time the nomadic tribe influence in the Nurshira region is very strong

The nomadic tribes proved to be formidable adversaries, employing their expertise in horsemanship and guerrilla warfare to harass and disrupt Yan forces.

The early formation of Nurshira marked a turning point in the power dynamics between the Yan dynasty and the nomadic tribes.

It signalled the resurgence of the nomadic peoples

In the coming years, the conflict between the Yan dynasty and the nomadic tribes would continue to shape the destiny of the region, leading to further clashes, alliances, and the rise of new leaders.

The struggle for control over the northern borderlands would become a defining feature of the early years of Yan dynasty

During the reign of Emperor Gaozu, the Yan dynasty clashed with the nomadic tribes in a pivotal event that would shape the relationship between the nomadic tribes in the north and Yan dynasty.

Gaozu led his Yan army with the intention of asserting dominance over the nomadic people and reclaiming the lands of the north.

However, the nomads, fiercely determined to protect the area, devised a strategic ambush that caught the Yan forces off guard.

Gaozu found himself encircled and in a precarious situation, facing imminent defeat and the potential loss of his own life.

In order to save himself and his army, he was forced to make a humiliating decision: to sign an agreement that conceded certain demands of the nomadic tribes.

This act of submission and the subsequent agreement became a source of embarrassment and shame for the Yan dynasty.

It also started the practice of marrying the princess of Yan to the nomadic tribes

However, the narrative surrounding this event, as chronicled by the scholars of the Yan dynasty, is highly biased and skewed in favor of the Yan empire.

These accounts sought to portray the nomadic tribes as cunning and deceitful, employing underhanded schemes and tricks to gain an advantage over the Yan forces.

By casting the nomads as aggressors and coveters of the fertile lands in the north, the scholars aimed to absolve the Yan dynasty of any responsibility for their defeat and to reinforce their own image of superiority.

In reality, this was a war driven by conflicting interests and the desire to control valuable territories.

The nomadic tribes, much like the Yan empire, sought to protect and reclaim their own lands and resources.

Their actions can be understood as part of a larger struggle for survival and self-determination.

Unfortunately, the victors write history, and the scholars of the Yan dynasty shaped the narrative to suit their own interests and maintain their grip on power.

By depicting the nomadic people as the perpetual aggressors and casting them as the "bad guys," the scholars justified their own actions and perpetuated a distorted view of the events.

Nevertheless, despite their defeat, the nomadic tribes left an indelible mark on history of Yan.

And it was not until the reign of Emperor Wu of Yan that the nomadic influence on the north was erased

It was then that the scholars change history to suit the narrative of their empire.

The manipulation of history by the scholars of the Yan dynasty was not an isolated incident, but rather a recurring pattern used to advance their territorial ambitions.

Their most prized method was the distortion of truth and reality, enabling them to justify their claims on lands belonging to other nations and kingdoms.

Through carefully crafted narratives, they painted themselves as righteous and just, while vilifying those they sought to conquer.

Ironically, while their scholars preached about truth, honesty, and the wisdom of their sages, their actions spoke volumes about their true intentions.

They claimed to desire peace, yet their military campaigns resulted in the loss of countless lives.

They mourned the deaths of their own people, failing to acknowledge that their conquests and invasions were the root cause of the conflicts.

In a twisted display of hypocrisy, the Yan dynasty blamed the very people they sought to conquer for their own aggression.

They assigned derogatory titles and fabricated stories to demonize their adversaries, attempting to shift the blame away from their own expansionist ambitions.

This deliberate manipulation of truth and reality not only deceived the Yan people themselves but also bred contempt and animosity towards the nomadic tribes and other races that fell outside the Yan sphere of influence.

The Yan people, blinded by the narrative crafted by their ancestors, held a disdainful view of those they deemed inferior.

They failed to recognize the resilience and strength of the nomadic people and others who challenged their supremacy.

This arrogance and underestimation of their enemies would prove to be a grave mistake in the face of the impending rise of a conqueror in the Great Steppe.

While the Yan dynasty continued to engage in internal power struggles, oblivious to the changing dynamics beyond their borders, a conqueror was silently amassing strength and influence.

This conqueror sought to unify the tribes of the Steppe, forging alliances and mobilizing their forces.

As the Yan dynasty remained preoccupied with its internal conflicts and the scholars perpetuated their distorted narratives, the conqueror grew stronger, poised to challenge the Yan’s perceived invincibility.

The tides of history is shifting, and the Great Steppe, often dismissed as a mere backdrop to Yan ambitions, would emerge as a force to be reckoned with.

The Yan dynasty would soon learn that in war, underestimating one’s enemies is a perilous path to tread.

The fate of the Yan dynasty and the destiny of the Great Steppe hung in the balance, awaiting the clash of civilization that would reshape the course of their intertwined histories.

As the first rays of the morning sun began to paint the sky with hues of gold and orange, Aeryon stirred from his slumber.

The chill in the air reminded him that winter was approaching, but for now, the gentle breeze carried a touch of autumn, still caressing his face with a refreshing coolness.

Rising early had become a habit for Aeryon, an instinctive response to the demands of leading his tribe and overseeing the affairs of the Great Steppe.

Inside the spacious tent adorned with all kinds decorations, Ayera rose from her sleeping mat, her eyes still heavy with remnants of slumber.

The soft glow of a flickering oil lamp cast a warm light on the scene, illuminating the intricate tapestries that adorned the walls.

Her movements were graceful and deliberate as she donned a long robe made of finely woven fabrics, the colours which is full of vibrancy

The delicate embroidery that adorned the garment spoke of Ayera skilful craftsmanship and attention to detail.

This is one of the few that she herself craft. Ayera knows how to fight and how to kill but she also learned many other things and she excel in it

Nearby, a small brazier crackled with glowing embers, providing warmth and a place for Ayera to heat water.

She carefully poured the water into a basin, adding fragrant herbs that released a soothing aroma.

As steam rose gently, Ayera dipped a cloth into the warm concoction, preparing to cleanse Aeryon face.

Aeryon, now fully awake, stood tall and sturdy in the center of the tent, his gaze fixed on the preparations.

His armor, adorned with ornate engravings and symbols of his tribe, was meticulously laid out on a wooden stand nearby.

Ayera approached him, her eyes filled with concern and determination. Aeryon knows what she is going to do and he accepts him

With gentle yet firm hands, Ayera tenderly washed Aeryon face, cleansing away the traces of sleep.

There is silence between them but the duty of wife to husband is done full of devotion.

The warm water caressed his skin, invigorating him for the challenges that awaited him on the battlefield.

As she carefully dried his face, Ayera touch conveyed nothing that seems like love

Aeryon thought to himself that even if she acts, she could not act this good. But, there is support

What Aeryon learns about Ayera is that she knows what to do and what not to do. At least whatever plan that she I hatching, right now, she is playing according to the rule

His tribe needed him to have a wife. And so, now that she is his wife, she would fulfill her duty

And as long as she fulfils her duty, Aeryon would fulfill his.

"I wonder when it will end" he thought to himself.

Someday, this would end.

Someday, there would probably be a day where she would no longer fulfil her duty and that is also the day when he would no longer fulfill his duty.

But Today, she is his wife and he is her husband. Ayera came and she washes his face with water.

Maybe, in the near future, they might draw weapons against each other. But for now, this is a morning like any other

Aeryon think of this while remaining silent.

Both of them wakes up early but both of them are not tired. The atmosphere in the tent itself become tense as the moment apses by.

Solemn and grim.

Next, Ayera retrieved a small vial containing fragrant oils. She carefully applied the oils to Aeryon arms and chest, massaging them into his skin with practiced movements.

The soothing scent filled the air, infusing the space with a sense of tranquillity

Aeryon nodded and then said

"That is enough"

Aeryon retrieved his weapon—a finely crafted bow adorned with intricate carvings and a quiver filled with arrows.

Ayera handed him his fur-lined cloak, shielding him from the chill of the early morning.

She fastened it around his broad shoulders, ensuring its secure fit

As the sun began to cast its first golden rays upon the horizon, Ayera retrieved a leather pouch containing a variety of dried herbs and roots.

With skilled hands, she prepared a bundle of protective charms, carefully tying them together with a piece of twine.

This talisman, blessed by the Ashana, would accompany Aeryon into battle, warding off ill fortune and safeguarding his spirit.

With preparations complete, Ayera stepped back.

"You’re going?"

He did not say much.

Aeryon stood tall, his gaze determined and resolute, ready to lead his warriors into battle. Ayera simply nodded

Aeryon was about to come out of his tent then Ayera ask

"Could you win?"

Aeryon did not even turn to look back at Ayera. He simply said

"I will win" And then with a swish of the curtain, he went out of the tent
