Way of Overlord
Chapter 100: Three-Pronged Attack

Chapter 100: Three-Pronged Attack

Under the vast expanse of the open sky, the Great Steppe stretched out in all its untamed beauty.

The rhythmic sound of hooves resonated through the air as a formidable force of horse riders gathered, filling the landscape with their presence.

The horse riders of the Brolgadhr tribe, dressed in their attire, created a vivid tapestry of colours and patterns.

Vibrant banners fluttered in the wind, displaying the proud symbols of their tribe—images of fierce animals and ancestral spirits.

All the subjugated tribes under Aeryon came listening to the summons.

The sound of metal clinking and the jingling of harnesses added a musical accompaniment to the scene.

Each warrior radiated strength and vitality, their sinewy bodies attuned to the ebb and flow of their steeds.

The horses, adorned with intricate tack and ornaments, were a reflection of the unity between rider and mount.

With manes flowing freely and eyes gleaming with determination, they mirrored the spirit of their riders.

Aeryon, mounted on his majestic steed, stood at the forefront, his gaze fixed on the horizon. His presence alone radiated power

This is the first time since the battle of Xewa and Ghar that Aeryon once again rides toward an enemy tribe

Unlike before, this time, all the people under his command is full of confidence

The air crackled with an electric energy, anticipation swirling among the warriors.

The scent of leather, sweat, and the earth permeated the atmosphere, mingling with the scent of the grasslands.

The warriors adjusted their weapons, ensuring they were ready for battle.

Arrows rested in quivers; their fletching poised to be unleashed with deadly accuracy.

Swords, glinting in the sunlight, were securely fastened to the warriors’ sides, ready to be drawn when the time called for close combat.

Spears were held at the ready, their pointed tips aimed upwards,

The wind whispered through the grasslands, carrying with it the echoes of past victories and the promise of future triumphs.

Aeryon look behind him and seeing all this he could not help but smile

"What a magnificent sight" he thought to himself. When Genghis Khan goes to the Kurultai and proclaimed the Khan of all Khans and see the people on horseback, how was the scene back then? He thought to himself.

The scene he is seeing now was a scene that embodied the timeless spirit of the Steppe, where warriors on horseback rode fearlessly across vast expanses, shaping the destiny of their people.

Aeryon did not need to speak speeches or give any morale boosting words. He did not need to

Just by looking at all of them, he could tell that all of his warriors is at full peak of their morale

"More would be excessive" he thought so he simply look at his warriors and nod

With a nod from Aeryon, the warriors’ spirits surged.

As Aeryon sat astride his horse, flanked by Belarion on his right and Mayeux on his left, a sense of gravity filled the air.

Belarion also loses that kind of innocence of big brother figure, appearing solemn and serious.

He has that imposing figure, clad in the repurposed steel armor, radiated a commanding presence.

The weight of the armor seemed inconsequential on him, as if it were a natural extension of his formidable stature.

Mayeux, too, wore a similar armor, a symbol of his importance and the trust placed in him by Aeryon.

Aeryon tribe does not have such armor.

This armor was repurposed by the stash of armor that they have.

When Aeryon subjugated six tribes under him, all of their precious things falls into his hand.

There is irons, gold and armor among them. Some of them even have armours from the Legions of Roma

Those subjugated chief treated it like a treasure.

And they did not use it.

But something that is not used have no function so Aeryon told one of the blacksmiths to repurpose it.

Gone was the congenial expression on Aeryon face, replaced by a stern countenance.

The urgency of the moment called for focused determination.

He sighed.

He understood the stakes at hand.

Right now, things are serious and everyone could feel the tension.

Even though Aeryon believe that he would be victorious, this is real war. And in real war, people dies. Some people here today would die.

But this is the kind of era that they live in.

With his deep voice resonating, Aeryon barked orders with authority, his words cutting through the tension-filled air.

"Belarion like we planned, you go to Kanun. Mayeux would go to Khulun. And I would go to Duhai"

Each command was met with a resolute nod from his people. Amidst the sombre atmosphere, there was an unspoken understanding among the warriors.

They knew that victory came at a cost, that the path they treaded was treacherous.

Yet, they stood undeterred, motivated by their unwavering belief in their chief and their shared vision of expanding their tribe’s dominion.

Aeryon is convinced that he could win this battle.

His conviction in their eventual triumph permeated the air, and the warriors drew strength from his unwavering confidence.

They had been through battles before, witnessed the spoils of victory and the pain of defeat.

But this was a new Chapter, a pivotal moment in their tribe’s history. Never before since hundreds of years ago that the Brolgadhr tribe possess such might

The people of the Brolgadhr tribe and its young warriors are the most affected. They are eager to fight a very different contrast from before where they were timid

At that time, Aeryon only had a few hundred men. When he decided to raid the Xewa and Ghar tribe, only fifty men followed him.

Those fifty men has now become his guardians, and was entrusted with many tasks around the tribes, their position and status elevated, and they were rewarded with horses, goats and all kinds of livestock and weapons.

Now, the Brolgadhr tribe is opening a different Chapter and the young is very eager to make achievement.

In the backdrop of the Steppe’s vast expanse, the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow upon the warriors and their steeds.

The golden rays illuminated the glinting armor, enhancing the air of determination that emanated from the assembled force.

The horses pawed the ground, restless yet attuned to their riders’ resolve.

It was a scene that encapsulated the harsh reality of their era—the clash of tribes, the pursuit of power, and the cost of ambition.

Aeryon could feel the tension building up and he could see his warriors are all in high morale.

He then look at Belarion and Mayeux

"Remember the plan" he ask and Belarion and Mayeux nodded. But he is only worried when looking at Belarion before sighing.

"Hulk, smash" that is the kind of order that he could give to Belarion. Belarion has always been some kind of simple.

Aeryon had decided to split his army into three.

He have around two thousand five hundred horse riders. And he also manage to get a few hundred free warriors to join him

Belarion would lead seven hundred horse riders to Kanun tribe.

That is enough to bring down Kanun.

Mayeux is given the control of one thousand horse riders and he was to lead the warriors to the Khulun tribe.

And Aeryon also take control of one thousand horse riders and his destination is the Duhai tribe

"This is a risky move but if it works, it would be good" he thought to himself. Aeryon had thought about this extensively before he decided to attack three tribes all at once.

Firstly, the size of the target tribes is a key factor.

With each tribe having only a few hundred people, they lack the numerical strength to mount a significant resistance against his forces.

In contrast, Aeryon commands a formidable army of approximately three thousand horse riders.

This vast numerical advantage alone gives him the ability to overwhelm and subdue the smaller tribes swiftly.

Of course, if they have someone like Belarion in their tribes, it would be harder. But when Mayeux was travelling all the way to Bolghar tribe, he had surveyed these tribes and none of them have people who were born with innate strength

That is why Aeryon was so confident in splitting his army into three.

there is another reason why he chose to attack all of these three tribes simultaneously

by attacking multiple tribes simultaneously, he could create a sense of chaos and confusion among his enemies.

These three tribes that he chose to fight might not be allied with each other, but Aeryon is quite certain that if he takes it one by one, there is a chance that the other neighbouring tribe would begin to ally with each other

There was a game he uses to play. The moment that you got too big or showing any signs that you are about to get big, the tribes began to ally with each other to supress you.

So, if Aeryon take it slow, take one by one the other tribes would have a common enemy to unite against

And that is not something that he wanted.

But if he takes all of them at the same time, it would make any backlash by other tribes feel minimal when he already controlled a vast area of land.

The tribes may be aware of each other’s existence, but they may not have anticipated a coordinated assault from multiple fronts.

So, even if they wanted to ally and coordinate with each other they would not be able to do it.
