The moment he thought of opening his status window, his status window immediately popped up.

It is like the interface in the game. Only he could see it. This is why he likes to be in a place like this, far away from other people.

There is not many things that have changed in his status window. It is not surprising considering that he did not activate any quest.

It has been quite a few weeks now that he lives in this world. And he still feel unfamiliar and yet oddly familiar.

He is quite confident that the reason why some things feels very familiar to him is none other than because of the original Aeryon. And the unfamiliar feeling is because of himself as James.

"Now that I have free time, it is time to allocate points" he looks at his status window and smile

He still has seven attribute points.

Now is also the time to check what these attribute means.

He look at his strength. Why is it so low? Aeryon doesn’t think that he is that weak. Yes, he is young but even if he did not have the invincibility buff, he is quite strong.

Of course, if he competed with Belarion, he would surely lose. Belarion is like a bull and could not be constrained.

"I could not understand why my attribute of strength is only four points" he ask himself. He taps the strength tab and in hi mind he ask question

"What is the meaning of this attribute?" he did not say it out loud, only think of it in his mind. And the moment his finger touched the tab, information streams into his mind

He crunched his face a bit, feeling like he is experiencing a brain freeze and then he shakes his head. The information coming into his mind did not take long.

’So, that how it is. This is quite different from those games I played before." But then he shakes his head

" I did not transmigrate into a game anyway. I transmigrated into a book. And even that is still a matter of debate" he uttered to himself.

The reason why his attribute point for strength is only four is because his strength is equal to four men.

That is the reason why his strength is only four points. He had used his logic in playing games to judge his system

In the games he always plays, strength usually determines a warrior’s physical power and damage output with physical attacks.

Of course, there is a variation of this function of attribute of strength but mostly it is related to physical attacks and ability to attack

But, his system is different. The strength of four points means he has the power of four men.

When he check the endurance attribute, it is the same. Endurance of four points means the endurance of four men.

But when he checks Dexterity, the description is different

Dexterity

Dexterity represents your character’s innate grace, hand-eye coordination, and agility.

A high Dexterity attribute enhances your ability to perform delicate tasks, such as picking locks, disarming traps, and performing acrobatic manoeuvres.

It also improves your accuracy with ranged weapons, increases your evasion, and allows for quicker reflexes in combat.

With higher Dexterity, you can move swiftly and gracefully, swiftly evading enemy attacks and striking with precision.

Your movements become fluid and efficient, enabling you to strike critical blows or land accurate shots with ranged weapons.

Increased dexterity enhances your ability to perform complex manoeuvres or navigate treacherous terrain, such as climbing, jumping, and balancing on narrow surfaces.

Investing points into Dexterity allows you to unlock special abilities or talents that capitalize on your heightened agility and finesse.

These abilities may include performing rapid, multi-hit attacks, executing acrobatic dodges, or unleashing devastating critical strikes.

MAX STAT POINT: 100 stat point

Aeryon could think of a few ways how this attribute is useful. When he fights dexterity is as important as strength

Especially when he is fighting multiple people all at once. In such situation, the ability to jump, to be fluid in attack and to have the ability evade the enemy is very important

And he also notice that the description said that investing points into dexterity attribute allows him to unlock special abilities or talents that capitalize on your heightened agility and finesse

To him this means more skills. He notices that the skill he got depends on the kinds of attribute he possessed. The more he uses a certain kind of attribute in solving a quest, the more related it will be to his skill

It is not surprising then that most of the skills he have focused on fighting and aid him in attacking and defending

" I am not complaining though"

Then he check the Constitution tab

Constitution

Constitution represents your character’s overall vitality and physical robustness.

A high Constitution attribute enhances your ability to resist diseases, toxins, and the negative effects of harsh environments.

It also improves your resilience against physical damage, increases your maximum health, and shortens the recovery time between battles or physical exertion.

With a strong constitution, you can endure more punishment in combat, allowing you to withstand hits that would incapacitate others.

Your body becomes more resistant to fatigue, enabling you to fight longer and endure harsh conditions without succumbing to exhaustion.

A high Constitution helps your character recover from injuries more quickly, reducing downtime and allowing for faster recuperation.

Investing points into Constitution allows you to unlock special abilities or talents that harness your enhanced endurance and fortitude.

These abilities may include temporary boosts to your health, increased resistance to negative status effects, or the ability to shrug off debilitating conditions that would hinder others.

MAX STAT POINT: 100 stat point

Arial read the description and it is more of the same like the attribute of Dexterity. But he began to question something

Why one hundred stat points? Why is that the maximum?

Is it because the strength attribute also has a max cap of one hundred points? Is it really the max cap?

What will happen if he reaches the max stat points of one hundred points for his attribute?

"Hmm" he seems to fall into contemplation but then he shook his head. In the end, he did not have the answer to this question.

He tries asking the system in his mind, but the system did not respond.

"I could only find this out after I reached the max peak of my attribute. And that is still far away problem" he nodded to himself convincing himself that while it seems important, far away water does not help put out nearby fires.

Aeryon always ahs the habits of thinking too much and too far. Sometimes it is good as it helps him to plan further and give him a sense of objective.

Once he has an objective, the action become clear. What he should do and what he must do. So, in a way, it is not all bad

But if there is a downside to this is that sometimes he thinks too far and forget to see the present.

And sometimes the present is more important the future. Because no matter how beautiful the future sems to be, without the present, the future would not come to be.

There is a word, Carpe Diem. Seize the day.

It is this word that he should remember. Seize the day. Because the world of the future of his mind ,while beautiful.....does not yet exist.

For it to exist, do the best you can do for today. Because that is the bridge to the future.

"Carpe Diem" he said to himself and he laughed. He shakes his head, feeling the cool wind of the Steppe cooling off his head and for a moment he close his eyes and exhale his breath.

He takes his breath and exhale.

It is an exercise of sort. To calm himself down, to let go of some stuff in his mind, to declutter his thoughts.

For a moment, he simply does this and then he opens his eyes.

"Focus" he muttered to himself.

He look at his status window and look at his attribute.

He thinks the other attribute is also the same. It affects some of his traits and probably the description would not vary much

"It really felt like I am in a video game. Did I transmigrate into a game instead of a book? Could I trust my memory?"

Since he arrives here, they were no time for him to think about the circumstances of his transmigration. Now, that he have time to take a breath, to rest, there are some things that keeps him up at night

And that is the circumstances of his transmigration. The more he thinks about it, the more confused he became.

He seems to remembers everything about his life as James. He remembers the café where he used to go, he remembers a few of his close friends, he remembers his high school, the streets he used to hang out, the music he listens to and many more

Yet, for some reason, when he tries to recall the day when he was supposed to transmigrate he did not remember.

He did recall that it happens on 30th April 2020

He remembers that the day was sunny.

But then , it was like his memory was cut off. He remembers waking up in the morning and taking a shower.

However, the memory then jumps to him landing on his sofa, reading this book.

It was like....it was like he was in a dream. Dreams usually does not have a defined start point or end point

It can range from brief fragments to elaborate storylines, and they can feel disjointed or flow seamlessly.

That is what he feels when he examined his memory during that day.

And then more question popped up into his mind.

Did he really buy this book? He first think that he bought this book from Amazon. Then he thinks about it again, and he didn’t recall buying anything from Amazon.

Then did he buy this from some flea market? He always does like to read books. But he also have no recollection of buying this particular book from a flea market or any market.

Did he found this book in the antique book shop in his small town?

Did he borrow it from a library?

Or is it something that his friend gave to him?

The more he thinks about it, the more the memories become jumbled up.

The scary thing about it was that the fact that this only happens when he tries to think of the origin of the book and the event surrounding his transmigration.

This is the only a[part of his memories that seems to be.....altered.

Yes, that is how he felt about it.

He felt like the memory surrounding his transmigration is altered.

And the moment he felt that, he felt like some kind of darkness enveloping him.

Now, he not only need to try to survive in this world, there is also a big mystery surrounding himself

So, he could not trust his own memory.

That is what happens to him.

He became an unreliable narrator of his own memory.

His thoughts once again veered off and then he decided to check the Intelligence tab. He expected to see the same kind of description.

But when the tab popped out in front of him and the information of the description streamed into his mind, his lazy eyes suddenly widened and his face become solemn

"what is the meaning of this?" he ask the system

The wind of the Steppe blows, the grass swayed and the sound of goshawk in the sky echoes and this is the silence of the Steppe.

And just like the silence of the Steppe, the system is silent.

Like before the system did not answer his question.

The moment he reads the description for the Intelligence attribute...it was like he was struck by lightning

"What does this mean?" he muttered to himself
