Chapter 395: Mayeux Ambition

Chapter 395: Mayeux Ambition

There are things in the details that the Kan is woefully ignorant about but at the same time, some things like the general direction of how history should unfold is something that Mayeux believe Aeryon has a better grasp on than any other leaders in the Steppe.

It is a contradictory trait of his Kan.

And Aeryon himself is a great strategist.

The only reason he did not design more of the plan is because Mayeux always presented a plan that is either better than what he thought or a plan that covers up the flaw in his own plans or spoke a plan that he had already think

Aeryon himself is not someone that wanted to take the glory of his subordinate and he like to delegate his work

To Mayeux, this is the trait of being able to use people.

The Kan did not need to know everything. He just needs to put the right people at the right place and he could govern the world

And it also proves that sometimes risk taking is necessary. There is something that he could learn from Aeryon

"this news probably had already reached Garron tent. I wonder what he would do?" then Mayeux smile.

What he is more worried about is the one in the west.

The Cha Ner Ul Alliance.

What would Chadha do now that Brolgadhr tribe border two of their tribe?

Before the Brolgadhr tribe only border with Chagai tribe on the east.

Now that Aeryon had taken Wustkazan, the area that the Brolgadhr tribe now has military presence and influence also extended to the east of the Nergui tribe.

Would they fall into a panic?

Mayeux smile.

If Khagai tribe manage to take Bolghar tribe and control the west then when the time is right, they could destroy the alliance of the Cha Ner Ul from both west and east.

The most stupid decisions that Chadha could do is to attack Brolgadhr at this moment and left Haltur. The wisest move he could make is take Haltur and expand the scope of the battle to include the three tribes of the west that supported Haltur tribe.

Only then could they at least have the chance to resists.

Mayeux smile because right now, a new avenue to expand has bene presented towards him.

He would not mind if Chadha took the three entries of Ino, Gir and Burka tribe.

Because then it would mean the western border tribe would become even more messier.

The more complicated the interest and dynamic in the west, the more beneficial it is for Aeryon

Mayeux did not want to take it slow now.

One fell swoop and pacify and conquer the entire west.

Then the west, the centre and lower south could all be unified into one entity. From then on, Aeryon no longer need to worry about taking the whole of the Southern Great Steppe

Right now, Mayeux task is to coordinate the army, send the generals to the region of Wustkazan, conquer those small tribes either by persuasion or force and make sure that the rear is stable.

Then make sure that their presence is known to the nearby tribe.

Mayeux has many things to do right now but then he sighed.

He thought of Jayeux. And he sighed again. Because after the news that Aeryon take this area, Jayeux probably would make a move.

After all, Mayeux knows a bit about the grand plan that Jayeux wanted to create. His grand plan is different

Mayeux wanted to emulate the great success of Roma.

Why?

Because Mayeux even though he has the blood of the Great Steppe, he grows up learning of the Great Empire of Roma

His father and his grandfather are all honourable people of Roma forced to be exiled and was called barbarians.

But regardless of the actions that the Roma Senate had done to his father and his grandfather, his father and grandfather still have longings for Roma

They could not stop thinking about it

This kind of longing could only be created by a sense of belonging that the Roma has mastered more than other regime around them

Beautiful buildings, strict laws, powerful strength, both benevolence and force, the ability to reconcile the many tribes.

Yes, there is many oppression. And there is many inequalities. But they did what others did not before them.

The difference between Yan and Roma is this.

Roma could still maintain itself as Roma even if they are not controlled by the Ellucian people who are the Roma native people

Because Roma is not a place, it is not a race, it is the empire itself. The people of Roma is the people of the Empire. Once you are citizen , you are Roma and your rights are protected under Roma laws.

Every time Roma is in decline and suffer trouble it is always because the weak laws, and the laws which increase inequalities between the ruler and the ruled.

Mayeux has learned both Yan and Roma methods of prosperity, of expanding, of conquering, of pacifying and he reached to a conclusion

he think to create an enduring empire, force is necessary for building it, but harmony and prosperity is required to maintained it.

As long as the four generation of the ruler in the beginning of the founding managed to maintained it, leave the coffer full and the granary overflowing, the empire could endure and a thousand-year empire, an empire that never set could be accomplished

Yes, Mayeux ambition is probably even larger than Aeryon. Aeryon wanted to create an empire

He believe that if he could take control of the Steppe, control the tribes, his horse would conquer the world

Yan, Roma, Yindu, all of west, east, south and north would be conquered by him and all of his children would become kings and queens

Mayeux on the other hand wanted to leave his name in history as the most dazzling advisor in the whole of history.

He wanted the future generation to say that his advice help the ruler to create a foundation that last a thousand years

Even though Aeryon himself wanted his empire to last long, even he probably would not think that his empire could really last a thousand years.

There is too many things that needs to be done and there is too may reforms that one had to do.

Not to mention that the era sometimes restrict the reform one could do.

And different environment requires different methods, different culture requires different ways.

But Mayeux wanted to do it. Was it the folly of youth, or a young tiger that did not yet know the bitterness of life and the coldness of the world?

Time would tell

"Now, if Khagai could finish the Bolghar than everything would be settled. In a year the west would fall. In two years, Aeryon would be able to unify the Southern Great Steppe. Unless there is changes in Yan, the road to the north would be open. And then....." And Mayeux smiles

"Compete with the Central region, and take it. Then everything would be easy. The West and East could be pacified easily and the only obstacle then would be the Northern Great Steppe!"

Mayeux wanted to laugh right now.

He is happy.

Truly happy.

He thought that this undertaking of trying to unify the tribes of the Great Steppe would take at least half of his life to complete.

Why?

Because he did not underestimate the heroes of the world.

But why is he so confident right now?

Is it simply because of the advantage that he has now?

No, because there is a disaster that is about to happen to the Steppe.

And not only the Steppe.

If the books and all the lore he heard and the folktales that is sung in the campfire was right, this catastrophe would covers the world

To others it is a disaster.

To him it is an opportunity.

Mayeux himself is not a sadist.

He also did not like people to suffer needlessly.

He has that elegance of a Roma noble mixed with that certain cruelty and hardy nature of the Steppe people

It is just that this catastrophe that he predicted could not be stopped.

Since he alone could not stop it, the best way he could do is to make use of it.

And Mayeux actually knows this because of Aeryon.

Aeryon was the first one that proposed a theory. And the more Mayeux think about that theory the more he thinks it makes sense.

Because he had read the report from the north, from the west and from the east. And all of those reports seems to corroborate Aeryon theory.

And if Aeryon theory is right, the south and the north would become one of the most crowded area of the Great Steppe.

The west is different. The east is also different. What is important right now is to store food and resources.

If Aeryon was right, they could use this opportunity to quickly unify the Steppe and uses "that" to drive the people of the Steppe south or north.

If Aeryon and him is wrong, they could always just follow the plan that they outline in the beginning

It is because of this Mayeux is very much happy.

"Now, I wonder what the other chief would think about my Kan victory" Mayeux is in a happy mood today and as he left his tent to go supervised the bazar and the construction of the city, he could be seen singing the old songs of the Steppe

The Steppe Conqueror would be reborn and from the ashes of destruction, will come a Conqueror that would bend the knees of all kings

So, the Song goes
