Way of Overlord
Chapter 355: Death of A Great Warrior

Chapter 355: Death of A Great Warrior

Yurmuk wanted the chance to be truly one hundred percent chance of hitting him. Only then would he throw that battle axe at him

Killing him in one blow, that would surely embolden his army and the morale shift would be hard for the other deputies of the Khagai tribe to handle.

"retreat" he thought to himself.

Now, after a few minutes of fighting with Yurmuk he also has figured out what kind of warrior Yurmuk is and his pattern.

Ota smiles

"I win this battle" he thought to himself

Neigh!

Ota horse neighed as Ota pulled his horse back.

Yurmuk saw this and he shouted

"Is Ota the Great warrior of Khagai is retreating! Coward! " this time it did not seem like Ota is retreating only to come back and fight him again.

This is Yurmuk judgement.

It is like he is retreating to avoid the sharp edges of his attack.

"he has seen through it" Yurmuk thought to himself

Yurmuk guessed that Ota has also realizes that he is accumulating momentum.

"Only a bit more" he thought to himself.

This time Yurmuk could not let Ota make him waste time. Nor could he let Ota runs away. Not when the momentum is already stored and ready to be unleashed.

If he could not release this momentum that he had accumulated and let him break the chain, disrupt the rhythm of his battle method, then he did not know how long he could fight against Ota.

"A smart opponent is always the hardest to fight" Yurmuk sighed in his heart.

This kind of domineering momentum must be accumulated continuously and when the opportune moment appears, he must strike with all his might, breaking all defense.

He could not do that if Ota takes his time with him.

Of course, he needs to chase after Ota. No, to be more accurate, he had no choice but to chase over Ota.

He could not drag this battle longer. The current strength he has now is like overdrawing his potential. Nobody in this world would not get tired. He would get tried eventually. And if that time Ota come back, he would be defenceless.

So, he has to chase. And he has to finished Ota as quickly as possible.

"Chase!" he thought to himself.

The horse hooves kicks up the dust and pass through the trails of blood, the red grass trampled and stamp onto the ground.

Both armies looks at the sight of Ota fleeing and Yurmuk chasing him.

The Khagai warriors are all worried and the Bolghar warriors is already cheering

But no one could see the face expression of Ota right now

As Ota seems to be retreating, he smiles. He could hear the horse behind him chasing him. The closer the sound of then horse, the excited he became

His heart is beating fast and the grip on his glaive tightened slowly like slowly finding the right angle to move the glaive

"Yurmuk took the bait" Ota wanted to laugh when Yurmuk chase after him. He wanted Yurmuk to chase after him

And he knows that Yurmuk has to chase him. From the moment he knows that Yurmuk is accumulating momentum, he knows how to draw him in. As long as he is close to the peak of his power, he would retreat and Yurmuk has to chase.

If Yurmuk did not chase, then he needs to retreat.

The wise choice here is to retreat. That is the way for Yurmuk to survive to fight another day. That is how to break his trap.

Yes, they would lose this battle, but they could always fight for a comeback.

Winning a battle does not mean winning the war.

If he could lose the battle and win the war, then everything is forgiven.

But from what Oat could see this is a man that could not afford to lose.

Ota is different from Yurmuk

Ota learns from Valgrun. Valgrun is one of the wisest person Ota has ever met. He might not be as strong as him but under his lead, Ota had never lost.

When they did lose, it is because some people could not follow Valgrun orders

That is why Ota might not listen to anyone else in the tribe, but he always listen to Valgrun

And for someone like Ota who rarely loses, the first thing that Valgrun teaches him, is how to lose.

Yes, that is the first lesson.

Not how to win.

But how to lose and how to deal with it.

What to let go and what to keep.

When to stand your ground and when to run.

Valgrun hone him not to be an unparalleled warrior under the heaven.

Valgrun was honing him to become a commander of an army

This is the difference between Ota and Yurmuk.

Yurmuk is warrior. A pure warrior. Ota is a warrior. But he has the mind of a commander.

He.....is not afraid to lose as long as he will be the one laughing in the end

"I would end this battle" he thought to himself.

Yurmuk is approaching Ota with great haste, the horses is coming closer

and the closer he came with his horse the more excited Ota became

A few feet, one feet.....Yurmuk is in the range!

And then in a sudden deft maneuvers Ota moves his horse around.

Yurmuk was shocked but at this time the acceleration of the horse did not allow him to change his path.

"DIE!"

Swish!

Shing!

Ota swings his glaive and in that moment, he grips his glaive the hardest he could and in that swing the determination to kill

Heaven would be rendered apart; the earth would give way! That is the kind of sharpness of that glaive seems to possess as it was swung

A warrior when fighting must believe that they are invincible. Must believe that their attack could render heaven apart and tear the world.

Only then could you swing your hardest, could fight the hardest.

With all his might, the blade of the glaive caught Yurmuk off guard. But in that split second, Yurmuk manage to avoid the intended target of that glaive.

His head.

And instead of his head, the glaive strike him across the chest.

The impact is powerful enough that it broke his chest bone and knock him from his horse.

BOOM!

CRASH!

THUD!

Yurmuk hit the ground hard, both of his axe slipping from his grasp. Ota would not let go of this golden opportunity

Ota knows he could not let Yurmuk recover.

Even though he broke the chest bones of Yurmuk he is not naïve enough to think that Yurmuk would stay down.

Not to mention Yurmuk is the kind of person that would be more powerful as they endure injuries.

It is like something would awaken in the senses of these people when they are beaten. Going berserk and possessing some kind of otherworldly strength for a short period of time

Ota met many people like this. Hence, he could not let Yurmuk to reach that stage.

Before Yurmuk could get up and stabilizes himself, Ota was already upon him

"HIP!

Ota jump down from his horse, dismounted swiftly and standing over the fallen warriors. There is no simile on his face

He simply look at Yurmuk and said

" You are a great warrior and deserve an honourable death" He did not want to humiliate a warrior of Yurmuk calibre. It is a pity. In a battle of life and death there is no if.

Ota would have like to have Yurmuk as his allies. But Yurmuk would never accept his offer. This is Ota conviction.

A warrior like Yurmuk would rather die than surrender. So, there is only one conclusion for this battle.

Yurmuk must die

He sighed in his heart but his hand make the last move nonetheless.

Ota simply drove the glaive into Yurmuk chest

In that moment, it felt like time stopped for everyone.

The conclusion of battle.

The curtain finally fell down on Yurmuk, ending this legend of the north and opening the curtain to a new legend in the west.

In that one final thrust, it ends the duel and end the warrior life. The death of Yurmuk could be seen by all the deputies of the Bolghar tribe.

This is their greatest warrior. Defeated. And now in that moment the morale that they have is shattered.

"Retreat!" one of them shouted and the horse retreat. Ota simply said,

"those who surrender shall be spared, those who did not would die!" he shouted and his voices echoes loud and clear, spreading to all four direction of the battlefield.

The order is clear to the people of the Khagai.

This is an order to attack.

"Chase them!"

"Surrender or die!" the Khagai warriors chases the Bolghar warriors and all of them are full of morale.

The retreating army is like headless chicken. In a controlled retreat, it would not be such a chaotic scene.

But in a retreat like this, Khagai tribe warriors could maximize their attacking power without worrying being hit

The dust rises and now the only thing that is left to do is the clean-up.

Around Ota, there is horses passing by him, his warriors is chasing the fleeing people with haste.

On the other hand, Ota is in front of Yurmuk body, looking at him with a solemn expression

Ota simply watch the final moment of Yurmuk while bowing toward the warrior.

"Skyfather watches you and Earthmother would bless you. You are a great warrior." He mutters

Then without haste, he jumps back into his horse and then follow his men, to wreak havoc to the enemy.
