Chapter 354: Types of Warriors
Chapter 354: Types of Warriors
Ota red armor itself is made from sturdy materials but the fact that Yurmuk could cut a chip of this red armor shows that Yurmuk reputation of possessing great strength in battle is not false at all.
"he is chipping my armor one at a time" Ota could guess what Yurmuk is trying to do.
He is trying to create a point of pressure all over his armor so that when the time comes, on strike would break his armour.
But even in this kind of situation, Ota is calm. Even though he laughs , this is an appearance he shows to his soldiers so that they would feel that even under threat, their leader is as fearless as ever.
Ota is not only an accomplished warrior; he is also a great commander. As he leaned back, he moves his hand.
He finally decided to make his move
Swoosh!
A downward strike, a retaliation of the attack.
The strike cut the air, the sound breaks and the wind scatters to opposite direction of the edge of that glaive.
"Got you!" Ota thought to himself
Shritt!
The sound of tearing could be heard.
Yurmuk shoulder was bit by the glaive blade
"Hmph!" Yurmuk simply release this gesture when the glaive slice a piece of his flesh
Yurmuk stabilized his body almost instantly, shrugging off the injury.
Yurmuk could feel the entire force bearing down on his entire being. His face is solemn but there is no sign of him wanting to give up,
ARGH!!
Instead, what happens was that Yurmuk attack with renewed fury.
The entire battlefield seems to be waiting for this battle to end.
It is like these two warriors would decide the fate of this entire battle.
The clash of these two warriors is the focal point of the entire battlefield right now.
Ota is tall and broad shouldered, and wielding that massive glaive each strike cut the air and created shrill sound.
Blade that glinted menacingly. Sometimes , the sunlight would reflect off from the blade like it was showing its sharpness.
Yurmuk seven feet tall giant, held a double axe with a handle wrapped in worn leather, its twin blades honed to a deadly sharpness.
Charging at each other like a raging bull, the ground trembled each time these two monsters step on the ground
The force that they exert now is different when they fight with other warriors.
Because they are elite warriors, they know they need to push themselves and push themselves is what they are doing right now.
The aura around them is charged, like heat emanating out of their body, causing the air around them begins to distorts.
If everyone would be brave enough to come close to them right now, they would find the temperature around them is different from the temperature of this area.
It is like their body itself is producing heat.
Ota uses his glaive and each time he made a wide arching sweep, the blade cutting the air exploded with a whistling sound
The wind would howl with every sweep, creating a shrill sound that seems to grate on the heart of the enemy
And each time Yurmuk countered Ota strikes and clash with each other, it create a shocking explosion in the air.
Each clash is thunderous
It is like a war drum that causes the warriors that is watching this battle to beat with a rhythm that shakes their heart and soul
When metal met with metal.
The sound reverberated across the area.
The nearby warriors could feel their hands shaking, the reverberation of the air hitting them even though they are already far away from those two
Sparks exploded every time from the point of impact.
Even in the day, even as the sunlight shines upon the battlefield of these two people, the sparks of fire that appears would momentarily illuminate the fierce faces of these two warriors
It is clear both of them held different feeling for this battle.
Ota seems happy. And Yurmuk face is solemn.
The force of the collisions of these two warriors sent shockwaves around their arms and one could see that their muscles straining against the vibration.
The grass around them is pulled from their roots and flies and scatters away from them.
Before, they would held firm, and both try to push the other, locking each other eyes, and looking at each other movement to predict the next move of the enemy
But now, they no longer did such thing.
Instead, they would separate from each other and attack each other wildly. But even though it looks wild, it is purposeful
Every move, and every step, every strike and every shot.
Each one of it was purposeful.
The rhythm of battle become faster and faster, like a rhythm of a war drum that keep increasing its beat per second.
Warriors from both sides paused to watch this epic duel.
Some warriors, aspire to be the same kind of warriors of these two. Regardless of their opposing tribes right now., in the Steppe, powerful warriors are always valued.
Their deeds and achievement , if magnificent enough would be told in the campfire a thousand years later, immortalized in stories and songs.
Great heroes always wanted to be remembered for centuries.
That is how they become immortal. In the stories, in the stars, in the dust that flew in the air, in the water of Empatarah river, in the belly of the carrion birds, in the fires of the tribe
Ashana would record the act of bravery, the victories and the glory. The storytellers would tell the stories. Wizancai would remember it.
Pencerita make new stories inspired by these heroes.
Their deeds inspire people.
Virtues and villainy would be remembered
It is not that these warriors forget their enemies, it is just that duels in the Steppe is sacred.
The only time they would forgo duels etiquette is when they are facing with Yan people.
And that is also because of the treachery of the Yan people, a double tongue race, speaks with promises and honeyed words but break faith every time.
The Yan people are not a race that could keep promises. Even in the Steppe, there are tribes that one could not trust.
These kind of tribes survives but could not stand for nobody wanted to associate with such tribes and sooner or later such tribe would be destroyed.
Duels is of course sacred but that does not superseded the grand cause of the world.
While there is duels between chiefs of tribe and great warriors, none would demand such attention that they would stop what they were doing and simply watches.
It is because of the unique circumstances of these two people.
Usually, even when two great warriors that leads the army of a tribe, the warriors would still fight the other warriors in the battlefield, leaving the two great warriors to duke it out
This is the least that the people of the Steppe could do to honour the Duel while at the same time being practical in their desires and needs
But this is different.
This duel between Ota and Yurmuk is very different
Ota is a formidable warriors that is an enemy of a thousand people. His presence in the battlefield alone is enough to turns a flock of sheep into a pack of crazed hungry wolves out to hunt.
And Yurmuk is a hulking menace that could easily break the will and resolution of the enemy. Whoever wins this battle would change the morale of the entire army.
And it is also because these two warriors are both famous warriors in the Steppe and both are deeply trusted by their army.
To the Bolghar army, they have cultivated this trust toward Yurmuk because of his deed and more importantly because of his victory.
They all have seen how Yurmuk defeated ten of their warriors and they saw how he defeated their enemies and the disciplined Khagai warriors.
How could you not trust such a leader?
As for the Khagai, they have seen Ota rises from a small soldier in the Khagai army to become a Great Warrior that leads the battle and the most trusted person of the chief.
Whoever dies, would impactfully changes the entire battlefield outcome. Hence, they all stands there, looking and watching this battle with bated breath.
The air is filled with the sound of these two men clashing with each other, the soldiers eyes glued to the two combatants.
Ota is looking at Yurmuk and recognising the pattern and analysing his movement.
His attack become faster and faster.
And Ota eyes narrows
"This person is probably like Belarion" Ota thought to himself even as he is deflecting Yurmuk attack.
At first, Yurmuk was actually overwhelmed by him and his momentum was halved.
But now as they fight against each other, the longer the time passes, the more it seems Yurmuk is accumulating momentum.
And as he push on with the attack, this momentum leaked out unconsciously.
"I need to end this duel quickly before the momentum that he is accumulating is unleashed."
There is those who fight with great momentum from the start, and the first three attack would always be the most lethal.
This kind of warrior have almost great piercing power but if the three initial attack is deflected then this warrior would get bogged down in battle of attrition
Because the first three attack exhausted all of the strength. A high risk, high gain method
But if not, then they would get bogged down and need to retreat to charge back the momentum. Even more so if the warrior is fighting someone who is on the same level of power
Then there is the other type.
The opening attack is testing attack, weak and lack power.
But as the battle continues, the momentum for that attack is accumulating.
And when the opportunity shows up, this moment would be unleashed and not many could stand it.
And that probably what Yurmuk is betting on.
"He is betting on me to let down my guard, shows an opening and cut me with his axe"
Battle axe is used to chop.
But it could also be used to be thrown away.
Not to mention Yurmuk main weapon has always been a mace. But then why did he not throw his battle axe at him.
Even when there is an opportunity before? Because he is accumulating momentum, Ota answers to himself
He knows the answer. And so, he knows how to counter it
Amidst the battle, Ota is smiling widely
