Way of Overlord
Chapter 206: Golden Years of the Kazan

Chapter 206: Golden Years of the Kazan

But, like the changes of the wind that brings the storm, there was one variable that the chief of Kazan could not predict.

When the Kazan chief hears that the Sordkazan chief went toward the south, he of course has desire to attack.

But Aeryon had send words to the tribes of the south.

Those who do not follow the expedition toward the south but attack the chief of those who goes to the south would become the enemy of everyone in the expedition.

That means, if anyone attack any of them, the four tribes, Sordkazan, Brolgadhr, Esbizuk and Khagai would unleash their fury like the Great Steppe have never have seen before.

This is Aeryon words when he proclaims the retribution that he would unleash to those who attack the steppe people who went toward the expedition of the south

He would tear apart the skin of that enemy, boiled everyone that is complicit and their bodies would be tortured by opening their ribcage when they are alive

This is only a few of the torture method that Aeryon had outlined to those who would break this alliance of the Steppe people.

Even one of the torture methods is enough to discourage many people.

Of course, whether Aeryon could really enforce it is another thing entirely. But no one wanted to bet their tribe on this matter.

Because if these four tribes truly banded together to destroy a tribe, it would be hard for any of the tribes in the lower south to survive

unless the large tribe on the upper north of the Southern Great Steppe meddles, most of the tribes on the lower south would not be able to contend with such combined force of might.

Aeryon wrap his words in righteousness and the Ashana proclaim his words as a righteous deed

Aeryon proclaimed that he is attacking Nurshira to avenge the death of so many Steppe people for the past hundred years, to liberate the slaves of the Steppe that is tortured by the Yan people.

The spoke of how the Yan people elevated themselves and calls them barbarians and animals.

The spoke of how the yan people erasing their culture, teaching young kidnaped Steppe people to be loyal to the Emperor of Yan and then use these Steppe people to kill Steppe people

With these words, Aeryon had put himself in a position of righteousness. A great hero that fought for the Great Steppe for the injustice that is put upon them.

That is his words.

And with such words, who would dare attack the tribes that follows Aeryon to fight in Nurshira unless you wanted to bear infamy all over the Great Steppe.

Even some of other chief warriors wanted to ride their horses and follow Aeryon to fight in the south.

So, at that time, the Kazan chief did not make any moves toward the Sordkazan.

And because of that, a week later, the plans that the Kazan chief had made has now turns to dust.

Kazan chief tent

The Kazan chief is Kaxaru.

He is the Son of Xaru.

He inherited the Kazan tribe.

The tribe which inherited the tribe leadership usually comes from a strong tribe. Most small tribes however choose leaders based on the strength of the leader.

But well old established tribe, tribes with a long history usually choose their leaders in a similar way the Yan and the Western Zhou choose their emperors and kings

Hereditary succession.

Kaxaru.

In his name, there is a wish.

Xaru means to take.

And the Ka in the name of Kaxaru means to take Ka.

Kazan before it is known as Kazan tribe it is known as Ka tribe.

The founder of the Ka tribe married the Zan tribe daughter.

When a succession battle between the sons of the Zan tribe happens, the Ka tribe founder intervene in the battle because of his marriage ties with the daughter of the Zan chief.

He fought and he won and the Zan tribe is assimilated into the Ka tribe. Hence, the name of the Ka tribe changes to Kazan tribe.

The reason why the previous chief name his son, Kaxaru is simply complying with the wishes of his grandfather. Kaxaru grandfather name his son, Xaru

Xaru which means to take. And what should Xaru take? None other than the splinter of the Kazan tribe.

Xaru in his years as chief try vainly to try to take the other splinter of the Kazan tribe and try to unify them.

When the split happens, there is nothing else he could do than just to accept it.

And even though he tried, he could not overturn the matter because he found obstacles at every turn.

Every year the split tribes of the Kazan become stronger.

The Sordkazan which means the Southern Kazan. The Wustkazan which means the Western Kazan

Estkazan which means the Eastern Kazan and Nurkazan which means the Northern Kazan. These are the split of the Kazan tribe.

And each of the splinter of the Kazan tribe believe that they are the orthodox and each one of them wanted to unify all the splinters of the Kazan tribe so that they could claim that they are the legitimate Kazan tribe

The battle has been going on for decades. And they fight their fathers fight. Their fathers fight their father fights

The feud, the resentment, the ambition, all of it intertwined in these dreams of unifying Kazan.

A hundred years dream

In the past during the era of the empire of the Steppe, there is a Qayan. This Qayan is known as Qayan Ostmanika.

The Qayan Ostmanika dies a violent death and that led to a dramatic and unrecoverable loss of political and military authority in the Ostmani royal court.

The Qayan Ostmanika rules half the Southern Great Steppe at that time. It is under this political situation that Kazan rose under the rule of Kan Kazan.

He has a sworn brother Luyanzhi.

Kan Kazan is a strong man and the records of the Kazan noted that he might be someone who is born with Innate Strength

Luyanzhi is smart and resourceful

Together they strengthened the Kazan tribe by assimilating small tribes, consolidating power to the hands of the Kazan tribe and established small tribes that pays tribute and obeys the order of the Kazan tribe.

In the heyday of that era, Kan Kazan conquers fifty tribes and brought a few dozen more to submission.

In some auspicious years, the Qayans of the Steppe assembled in the Central Steppe in the center of the Empatarah river in one of the largest meetings between the Qayans in that era.

The Qayan of the Ostmani named the Kan Kazan as one of the Qayans and the Protector of the South and sworn to protect the royal house of Ostmani.

Because of that he earned a tribute for other states and had many honours among the tribes of the Steppe.

His call to arms is as binding as the Qayan of Ostmani.

With this the Kazan intervened in many powers struggle, strengthening the Kazan tribe, leaving a long-lasting legacy that is still relevant today.

He was a great leader and turns Kazan into a large tribe that could commands the Great Steppe.

However, after the death of Qayan Kazan, a war of successful between the sons and daughters of the Qayan Kazan greatly weakened Kazan

It is sad that the descendant did not inherit the same traits as their predecessor. The reform of the Qayan Kazan and his sworn brother Luyanzhi was not continued by their descendant

The large Kazan tribe split to smaller tribes.

At that time all the small tribes no longer believe in the hegemony of the Kazan and the tribes splits to hundreds of small tribes scattered all over the Southern Great Steppe

It took another few decades before the four tribes that absorbed these smaller tribes turns into the four splinters of Kazan

Each of these four tribes all claimed ancestry to the Qayan Kazan.

That is the simple history of the Kazan.

In detail, it has many more stories.

But the simple story is that the death of Qayan Kazan, the destabilization of the Ostmani court, the collapse of the Empire of the Steppe leads to the four corners of the Great Steppe to be divided between large tribes and small tribes and the trend of unity between the tribes of the Great Steppe dissipated

Since the fall of the Ostmani court, the Great Steppe had never had a unified command.

And with the Yan, Western Zhou and Roma never wanting to experience the collective might of the Steppe people again, these three neighbours of the Great Steppe always finds a way to destroy any trends of unification in the Great Steppe

Roma focus on the northern side of the Steppe, always destroying the tribes there in hopes that they never found a strong leader to unite the tribes on the north.

But this is also changing., the northern tribes also had adapted an become stronger and they are not easily defeated anymore.

It is said that the winters of these past decades is quite cold

There is a chance that there is a migration coming toward Roma
