Chapter 193: Elite Soldiers
Chapter 193: Elite Soldiers
Unfortunately, Aeryon is not in that kind of world
He is strong.
But the path of the warrior is not his path.
What he wants is not false reputation of the strongest person in the world, what he wanted was the mountains and seas.
He wanted the world
And those who strive for the world, have different vision and different things they strive forward.
" I should really need a skilled armor" Aeryon suddenly thought when he sees this person armor.
He even envies this general for a moment
Because each piece of his armor, meticulously crafted, hinted at the wealth and prestige of his standing within the Yan forces.
Aeryon sighed and push away all this thoughts from his mind
"Who are you?" Aeryon ask
The general roars
"Chu Yan"
Aeryon gaze swept over Chu Yan and the disciplined ranks standing resolute behind him, a notable contrast to the tumultuous battles they had faced earlier.
"A different kind of army" he thought to himself
There was an air of discipline and purpose among these soldiers, an unmistakable cohesion that set them apart from the untrained soldiers of the city that they met before
"these are quite an elite bunch" Belarion mutters.
Even though Belarion is not that close to Aeryon, Aeryon could still hear Belarion words and he nodded unconsciously.
Aeryon did not say anything about this but his nod is enough to understand that he is looking seriously at these men like a threat.
In this era standard, these eight hundred soldiers would indeed be regarded as elite, possessing a level of training, discipline, and equipment that far surpassed the standard troops of their time.
Their ability to maintain a neat square formation, the quality of their armor, and the polished weaponry were all hallmarks of elite military units.
Moreover, the palpable aura of battle-hardened experience that enveloped them hinted at numerous campaigns and battles they had weathered together.
This shared history not only fortified their camaraderie but also imbued them with a steely resolve and a potent, almost intimidating presence on the battlefield.
Their coordinated movements and the precision with which they held their formation under pressure bespoke an ingrained discipline, honed through rigorous training and combat experience.
This level of cohesion and expertise in warfare set them apart from the ordinary soldiers
And unlike the cowardly city defenders, they have bravery written all over their face
Aeryon look behind him.
And he is a little worried.
Though his warriors had undergone rigorous training and shown commendable growth since their conquests, the lingering awareness of their relative inexperience weighed heavily on Aeryon mind.
Aeryon must admit they still lack something. Compared to the Khagai tribe warriors whose army is comprised of battle-hardened veterans, Aeryon army is still quite the greenhorn.
The Khagai tribe’s veterans held a depth of combat knowledge and battlefield expertise that surpassed the fledgling prowess of his own forces.
The gap in experience was stark.
Aeryon knows it best.
Khagai warriors could accept defeat gracefully and not be shaken by momentary defeat. They could regroup calmly and attack with great precision and discipline.,
This is because they have been trained and they have experience battle frequently.
Years of rigorous training and frequent engagements on the battlefield had instilled within them a profound understanding of the ebb and flow of conflict.
This knowledge was the bedrock of their resilience, enabling them to accept setbacks without faltering in spirit or determination.
As for Brolgadhr tribe, it is not that easy to transform them into a battle effective warrior like the Khagai tribe
The distinction between the Khagai and Brolgadhr tribes lay deeply embedded in time and experience.
The Khagai tribe’s supremacy on the battlefield stemmed from generations defending the western borders against relentless incursions by the Western Zhou.
Their legacy was etched in decades of battle-hardened experience, a lineage of warriors who had been immersed in conflict from childhood, honing their skills through victories and losses alike.
From the very cradle, Khagai children were steeped in the ways of war, growing into formidable warriors under the tutelage of seasoned veterans.
Their collective wisdom and discipline were not just products of training but were steeped in the crucible of countless battles.
They had witnessed defeat and tasted victory, forging their discipline from the flames of adversity and the triumphs of success.
And they have lost and they have won. Their discipline is formed from decades of battles
The Khagai tribe’s discipline and battle effectiveness were a by-product of this extensive history, a legacy of decades steeped in warfare.
In contrast, the Brolgadhr tribe faced a challenge in matching such seasoned expertise.
Their lack of extensive battle experience meant that transforming them into equally effective warriors was a task that required time, patience, and exposure to diverse combat scenarios.
The gap between the two tribes lay in this wealth of experience, a disparity that couldn’t be bridged hastily or easily.
Aeryon influence marked a pivotal shift in the trajectory of the Brolgadhr tribe.
His vision and pursuit of conquest set the tribe on a path of newfound aggression, a departure from their previous ways.
However, as with any transformation, change demanded time, patience, and a gradual evolution.
Aeryon initiative to steer his tribe toward conquest was the catalyst for this metamorphosis, turning his meek tribesman that usually prefers diplomacy and eking out survival among the larger tribe to a warlike tribe.
His aspirations and determination to lead his people into a realm of conquest and dominance initiated a cultural shift within the tribe.
Yet, even with his leadership and guidance, change couldn’t be instantaneous.
The process of transformation, from a relatively passive stance to a more aggressive and conqueror’s mindset, required the gradual reshaping of mindsets, traditions, and strategies. It entailed not just adopting new tactics but also instilling a new ethos within the tribe—a shift in perspective, priorities, and ambitions that couldn’t be rushed.
And Aeryon notices one thing. Like any other Steppe people, his people also have that bravery of the Great Steppe
But.... Brolgadhr tribe for most of his father and his grandfather time, is a peaceful tribe.
They rarely conflict with other tribes and when they do, war is the last thing they would suggest
To change that kind of mindset it needed time
And now they are facing a fully armed Yan soldiers. Aeryon is worried that his warrior would be fearful
Aeryon look behind him and he could not help but feel a little disappointed
Feeling the murderous aura, seeing the equipment of these eight hundred men, Aeryon could see many of his men could not but feel fear in their hearts
It is reflected clearly in their faces.
Aeryon is not afraid.
Belarion is not afraid.
Mayeux and Durka is not afraid.
But this does not mean that others are not afraid.
Belarion has always been confident of his strength and as he battles more and more and participate in many battles, he became even more confident of his own strength
Mayeux has the mind of planning over the fate of the world, great ambition and desire and eight hundred men is not enough to scare him.
Durka has lived most of his life in the battlefield, and he had fought many warriors, his age is old and there is not many things in life that could scare him
Aeryon on the other hand has the system, and he believes that he could create a legacy in this world.
If he is already in this world, and have such a windfall, having the system, how could he be content to live an ignoble existence, unknown to the world especially knowing the tragic fate of the people of the Steppe that is always oppressed by the Yan people who views people as rats and inferior of their race.
Raise the three feet sword, ride the horse and conquer the world!
They have an ambition in their hearts and the power to make that ambition a reality
But Aeryon men, these people even though they are the people of the Steppe, they have been brainwashed by the people of Yan for lack of a better word
The Yan always like to tell that they ae the strongest and they make up stories about their military commander and they omit any foreign people in their quest for glory.
When they fought against the people of the Great Steppe, the only reason they got that far is also because of their guide who is also a people of the Great Steppe. And there is even people of the Great Steppe that fought alongside Yan soldiers in the past
But in history, the one leaving their name is not the nameless soldiers but the generals and they erase the achievement of this foreigners because they are not Yan
To them, only Yan is superior.
But today, as they are being trampled they no longer shout about Yan superiority
And Aeryon soldiers as they fought they gained confidence. But now seeing such an organized army there is still that fear
If this is Khagai tribe, they would not even think about fear and would fight the moment their chief gives he order. Dama rules with an iron fist and his warriors fears Dama more than they fear anyone else.
"Do not be afraid" the general of the eight hundred men suddenly said.
Chu Yan suddenly jumps onto his horse and then rushed toward Aeryon
"Take the head and scatter the rest!" he shouted.
